G'day All! Maybe more of a ArcServer question and thought I would try here first. What hooks / notifications are there to use after a REST service has updated a feature class? Once data has come 'in' from Collector, we wish to add a notification to a different system. Database triggers and scheduled tasks are frowned upon. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

G'day Karen What happens if you copy and paste just the feature class you wish to edit?

G'day Karen Can you (quickly) create a new 10.2.2 geodatabase, create a new feature class, prep the feature class for offline editing, add a few points, and try creating the feature service again?

Hmmm ... back to Russell Roberts first suggestion ... The REST endpoint he refers to will be: https://<your_server>/<your_adaptor>/rest/services/<your_feature_service>/FeatureServer/createReplica

G'day Karen! We had similar issues, plus more. Do you have domains / sub types in the feature class(es) making up the feature service? If yes, try making a separate feature service for each feature class.

G'day Matt! What leads you to the conclusion that the edits are in the feature service but not the geodatabase? The feature service is like a link / pointer / reader to the geodatabase. A feature service doesn't store any data itself.

Hi Anthony You will (may) need to purchase named user license. In 10.3 some named user licenses will be bundled with ArcServer. You could technically use the one name for all users and this is against the license terms, and may defeat the purpose of wanting to use Collector; ie if you can't tell who uploaded the data may as well use a group source type solution.

Hi All Answering my own question ... thanks to local support office. In short, intended behaviour. "Yes the behaviour you’ve described is the designed behaviour and is a limitation of how the layer is added to the map when added as individual layers for both Feature and Map Services. The Map Service itself uses the ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer which is able to maintain the symbology however when adding individual layers it uses the esri:FeatureLayer and so the symbology is limited to basic representation."

G'day! If I display all layers in a MapService everything is good: If I add just the lines (due to the lines being unable to symbolise correctly as a feature service) the lines look the same as the feature service version How do I add just the line mapservice and have it symbolise correctly? Thanks

OK, I have had a small win. The issue was Apple and Android required the credentials to be supplied differently. Apple -> username Android -> UsernamE@DOMAIN And even if it wasn't the issue it (currently) seems to work for me. Thanks

With the Portal option you (may) also need to purchase 'named users' license. As Russ said, your ESRI rep can talk you thru the options.
