Try the Arctoolbox > Data Management Tools > Data Comparison > Feature Compare tool. You will have to walk thru each feature class one at a time or write a script/model for it but it should do what you need.

ArcSDE uses delta tables for versioned data. The business table is created when the FC is created. When you registar a FC as version two tables are created: A table for adds and D table for deletes. When you make an edit in ArcMap, the business table is never changed. The delta tables should contain the same fields as your buisness table with a couple additional fields. Each record in the delta tables has a state value with it. When ArcMap uses that FC it looks for the most current state value for each feature. If you: add a feature: a new record is added to the A table for the new feature. The ObjectID in the A table is the next unique available number for that FC. No records are added to the business table. delete a feature: a new record is added to the D table to remove the feature. The ObjectID in the D table is the feature's ObjectID. update/change a feature: a new record is added to the D table to remove the feature. Next, a new record is added to A table to reflect the feature's new position/attributes/geometry. The ObjectID for both records is the feature's ObjectID. State for both A and D records are the same. When ever a new record is added to either A or D table, the state is next highest available state. So if a feature has 3 records in the A table and 2 in the D table, ArcMap will only use the records with the highest state. --- It is normally a bad idea to edit or change the A and D tables since ArcSDE has several built in checks to handle changes to these tables and changing them manually can break the FC. However, to view which delta tables are associated with a certain FC: 1. Open an SDE connection in ArcCatalog 2. Right click on a FC and select the properties option 3. Click the Index tab 4. The number associated with the spatial index is typically the number used for the A and D tables (ex A751_IX will have A table as a A751 table and a D751 table. --- The A and D tables and states table can get really big after while so it is a good idea to compress your SDE every so often which removes outdated records in these tables. --- This is the short version of ArcSDE version and is not 100% true in all cases. But it should get you started.

It has been a while since I worked with 9.2 but if I remember right, ArcToolbox's tools use IE6/7 to handle the layout of the input window. Did you change/remove IE with the virus you had?

I think the Erase tool located in the Analysis Tools > Overlay toolbox is what you are looking for. However this requires a Advance (ArcInfo) license. For your second questions, try the append tool in the Data Management Tools > General toolbox. I will copy features from one FC to another FC without creating a new feature class.

I may be misunderstanding your intentions but I dislike the idea of a GUI that combines the varies SDE connections' feature classes into one grouped list. I have one set of connections for my read-only user, another set for data edits, and other of my admin connections and it is important for me to keep these seperated. Now if I could make groups or folders of varies SDE connections that would be great. Now things I would like to see is a GUI similar to the open documents in MS Word 2010. A left panel that shows my favorite locations and a catalog tree. The ability to change the filter on the datatype and even geometry type. I do like the ability to create new folders and GDB however, I would like that to be expanded to create new simple FCs too. I would like to use the Windows 7 Libraries. A search tool would also be welcomed.

Did you make sure that your services are pointing to the registared SDE data stores in ArcGIS Server 10.1? Unlike 10.0, if you don't registar your SDE connections with ArcGIS Server prior to pushlishing a map service, ArcGIS will make a local copy of your data and pull from that. In 10.0, the data sources were maintained if access was available but this is only true 10.1 if data sources are registar with AGS.

I would look into replication. You could do a 1-way replication with that other organization you need to share with. This way your data is not changed but all changes from the last sync is captured and shared with the other organization.

1. Yes, ESRI supports Oracle Spatial (ESRI 10.1 Help- Oracle Spatial). I used both of SDO geometry and ESRI datatypes in past jobs and majority of the time you can't tell a difference. 2.Yes. 3. Depends on your needs. Is there a requirement for SDO geometry and Oracle Spatial for other applications? Are you using Oracle Spatial elsewhere? Have you considered using ST_geomerty instead? Does your SDE and Oracle admin know Oracle Spatial or will you require additional training?

The element might be part of a shared cell in the DWG which will assign the style to the parent element. Or the text might be set to use level symbology instead of unique symbology.

How big is the file and does it contain a lot of text? I know when I used to bring CAD files into ArcMap, the amount of text in the CAD file dramatically affected the load time (which may seem like ArcMap is hung). By removing the text, I was able to greatly decrease the time ArcMap took to process the CAD file. A few pieces of text should not cause any problems but having hundreds of text elements in the CAD did. It was a very exponential curve. Also I notice that sometimes CAD files will have huge extents since there may be a couple elements far away (often near the origin) from the main body of the drawing. ArcMap seems to slow down when the spatial extents are that big.

Hi all, I am sure I am missing something simple but I just can't seem to see it. Hopefully someone with better eyes than me can help. I have a few silverlight applications. They worked fine at 10.0 but when I upgraded to 10.1, the web services in the silverlight applications do not appear in the map when the silverlight apps are accessed from outside the domain. The base maps and the silverlight applications themselves show up just fine but the web services from our 10.1 server do not. We have the ArcGIS Server 10.1 and the silverlight applications on the same server and I have installed the web adapter there also. I have placed the clientaccesspolicy.xml and crossdomain.xml files in the wwwroot folder. The services are set to Public on the security settings. Everything works fine when accessed from inside the domain. The services also work fine outside the domain in non-silverlight apps. Please help. Thanks,

Hi all, I have a folder in my ArcGIS Server (10.1) with some services in it. When I connect to the Server via the add layers browse tool I can only see the root folder and no sub folders. I do not know if the problem is with the SLV or the AGS. Any thoughts?
