For us, we run SQL Server 2016 Enterprise and SDE 10.6.1. This has never happened in our Oracle or Postgres databases.

I am also experience this with 10.6.1. If we delete all the records out the tables listed above, then it solves the issue. Would be great to know the cause of the problem so we can try to prevent it.

When I did a GIS Day presentation for a kindergarten class last year, I read Dr. Suess's There's a Map on My Lap book (There's a Map on My Lap!: All About Maps (Cat in the Hat's Learning Library): Tish Rabe, Aristides Ruiz: 9780375810992: … ). I brought in a map of each type described in the book and as we got to each, I placed that map in the center of the circle and asked the kids to tell me about the map. I also had ArcMap set up on the projector and we created a map together. I asked what things should be on the maps then I added each layer as the kids called it out. Use .lyr files so you can predefined the symbology and export only the data you will use so the draw times are as fast as possible. Roads, buildings, schools, fire stations, police stations, homes, parks, swimming pools, shopping centers where the main things the kids called out. The teacher was very good a helping directing their ideas. I used only the area that was in that school's zone so the kids could see things they knew. Main thing is to keep it interactive with something they are part of. It was a big hit and the kids had alot of fun.

Another reason is if you want to do What If cases. For example if you are planning out a new layout for a park or shopping center, you can created multiple versions for each proposed layout. Since they are independent of each other until you reconcile and post, you can keep each layout as its own version. Once the decision makers choose an option, you can post that version and delete the rest. In addition, the edit undo and redo tools use a version environment to work. Otherwise any changes are posted to the base table once they are made.

It depends on what level of notification are you after and how much edits will be done. For example, you could put a trigger on the A/D tables for the layer that fires an email when a records is entered. This will notify you each time an edit is done. But if you have many edits (even of the same feature) then email overload can happen. Another option is to count the features via the view for the feature class and compare it to previous count. This can be done on a given schedule and provide you with a summary of how much change was done. But you won't see which things were updated with the method. If you are only interested in notifications on new records, you can create a notification flag field with a default value. Then it is just a matter of querying that value from the table either on-demand or on schedule. Once query, change the value to be reported.

Does this problem affect all features classes or only some? Also is the feature classes versioned? Finally, have you set up any background processes at the database level using the SQL Server Agent or other 3rd party software?

According to help it requires a Standard license. But the feature class needs to be in a enterprise geodatabase (SDE). File and Personal geodatabases do not support archiving. Enabling archiving—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS Desktop

With Editor Tracking, only the last edit is timestamped. So you can find out when everything was last edited but you will not be able to see older edits. What you need to look into is Archiving. Archiving keeps a historic record of all edits and you can do reports on that edit histories.

If you are a small, one-man shop, then editing the gdb is just fine. Just make sure you back up the gdb often. You can use window's backup functions to do it or you might use a script like Justin provided. I have window's backing up my work folder to an external hard drive automatically. Another option for you might be to move your data into ArcGIS Online and have it hosted there. Then you should be able to edit it from there instead of from your gdb. It would also allow you to make web maps off your data without needing enterprise. The skill level for this is pretty easy.

It looks like the feature class SDE.Kahuro_HHolds is missing from the database or the user who is trying to reconcile it doesn't have permissions to select it. I would like to make sure someone hasn't delete that layer.

The problem is that you need to list the fields you want in both tables, not just the point FC. This is for all fields in both PointLayer and table: SELECT PointLayer.*, Table.*
FROM PointLayer
JOIN Table
ON PointLayer.Assess = Table.Field2A This is for only certain fields: SELECT PointLayer.Field1A,
PointLayer.Shape,
PointLayer.OBJECTID,
Table.Field2B,
Table.Field2C,
Table.Field2D
FROM PointLayer
JOIN Table
ON PointLayer.Assess = Table.Field2A

This is a pain in the butt to do. In order to unregistered a version with an archive, you need deattach the archive from the feature class. ESRI does not provide any tools to reattach afterwards. You will have to start with a fresh archive at that point. As for the replica, I believe if you rebuild a replica it will use the current archive history and not the previous history. However, because that would not work for us, I wrote a tool that will reattach (well, copies the records into a new archive). Check out these posts for info on this topic: Archive Restore Tool Approach for Data Model Changes https://community.esri.com/ideas/13248

First off, why do you need to do that? The far left number is dynamic and will change every time you query the records. It is about the same as a line number in a text document. You make a change to the text document and the line numbers will not match up. Same with that far left number. Delete a row and that number will no longer line up. Or if you sort by a different column, they won't line up either. Now if you need the gid in a different order, you should add sort by clause to your SQL statement. SELECT * FROM schema.tablename ORDER BY gid ASC/DESC

If I understand it right, you are looking for a SQL Statement that queries the same table but get the parent pipes values for each pipe which is also in that table. Also remember if you are using a versioned table, you should be pulling from the sdf_asset_all_evw view instead of it's base table. Since I don't table, I haven't test this but it should give you them main idea. select samplePipe.S_IPID,
samplePipe.S_PARENT_IPID,
samplePipe.U_DATE_PIPE_SAMPLE,
samplePipe.S_XCOORD_A,
samplePipe.S_YCOORD_A,
samplePipe.U_CONDITION_GRADE,
samplePipe.U_GROUND_TYPE,
samplePipe.U_PIPE_SAMPLE_REF,
samplePipe.U_REASON,
samplePipe.U_STREET,
samplePipe.U_SURFACE_USE,
samplePipe.U_TOWN,
mainPipe.U_MATERIAL,
mainPipe.U_DIAMETER,
mainPipe.U_DATE_INSTALLED,
mainPipe.U_DATE_REHABILITATED
from sdf_asset_all as samplePipe,
sdf_asset_all as mainPipe
where samplePipe.S_FCODE=77030
and samplePipe.S_PARENT_IPID =mainPipe.S_IPID
