>>The ability to have multiple people editing in the same project at the same time would be amazing!! We could split up the workload and get it done faster, if that's where Portals Projects is heading? Yes, that is where portal projects is heading. The main project will reside in the organization's portal (ArcGIS Online or Enterprise) and when a user begins to work, it will download a local copy where they will make their changes - update a map, add a layout, add project items like folder connections, etc. Another user or users could do the same. When a user saves, it syncs their changes up to the portal project and also receives any changes from the portal project down into their local version. In this way, multiple people can be working in the same project at the same time, and there will be basic conflict resolution - but it will likely work best if, as you indicate, a workload is purposefully split up... EDIT: This new functionality will first become available with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1. We are assessing the feasibility of what can be offered through ArcGIS Online.

@Michele for your use case, where it sounds like multiple people are purposely opening the same shared project, and purposely needing to make changes to and save to the same shared project, keep an eye out for Portal Projects in an upcoming release: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-documents/arcgis-pro-roadmap-february-2023/ta-p/1261591

I agree with @Bud on this one - this has been possible since the early days of Pro (if not 1.0). He's already pointed to https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/add-join.htm @mpboyle have you been able to get the result you need? You may need to be working in a geodatabase and not shapefiles - maybe @JonathanNeal can offer additional details if needed but it seems like it is possible to do what you're requesting.

@jmaxwell_braun and @feralcatcolonist_old This idea was to use a mobile geodatabase as the default and in 3.1 that is fully implemented. That is, a mobile geodatabase can be set as the default geodatabase and that can be set to be the default for all new projects. Wanting the option to create a new mobile geodatabase rather than a file gdb whenever a new project is created, though seemingly similar, is a different request. Please submit a new idea for that. It looks like the team is already going to add an issue to the backlog based on this discussion, but it will be best to create a new idea that we can link to that. Cheers, Kory

Hi @Bud I don't think it is a nevermind. I can see and understand what you're pointing out. We'll just need to look into possibilities to further refine the logic and do more user testing. This can be one of those situations where a user always wants a dialog to open in the same location, except when they don't. We'll continue to listen to feedback about the change that was implemented in Pro 3.1 and further refine it as needed. Thank you.

There is not a conversion of a Pro map into an mxd. I'm not sure what the final deliverable is, but would it work to share a web map from Pro and then use that as a base for continued work in ArcMap? https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/arcmap-frequently-asked-questions.htm#anchor14

Hi @Bud this is a result of the implementation of https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/remember-last-positioned-window-locations-and-size/idi-p/1042464 (an idea that you voted for 🙂 ) So the window will open up in its last location and at the size it was. If you move the main Pro application to a different monitor and open the dialog again, it will be where it was. You can move it back to the monitor where you moved Pro and it will continue to open up there.

Just a note that this is not a limit that was introduced in 3.1. It has been in place for graphics layers since they were added in Pro multiple releases ago. Here is the 2.6 documentation: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.6/help/mapping/layer-properties/graphics-layers.htm# Because graphics are not stored in a database, it is very inefficient to read and render them. We had numerous complaints from ArcMap users over the years about slow performing .mxds only to find out that they had thousands of graphics instead of actual features in feature classes, shapefiles, etc. Instituting the limit in Pro is a compromise to allow the use of graphics, but keep maps relatively performant.
