Jay: To add to Carmel's suggestion, I would FIRST download your survey data as a FGDB from ArcGIS Online so that you have a backup of your earlier survey work. Carmel: Thank you for the insightful workflow for adding a field in an ArcGIS Online feature service table to match a simple modification coming in Survey123. However, if one's Survey123 modification includes a new Group, then that creates corresponding new related tables and relationship classes in the hosted feature service. New related tables and relationship classes cannot be created via AGOL, correct? If this is true, then readers of this thread should take note and understand the limitations. Thank you

Hamid: I think I can address question #1 and maybe #2 with the same response. I think the the "pulldata" function may be what you are looking for. Take a look at these two resources. XLSForm: Enabling CSV Data into your Survey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTq-ux2v5ds Use existing data in your survey - the pulldata( ) function https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/10/27/the-pulldata-function-access-external-data I am doing what you are asking for. In my survey media folder, I have a CSV list for birds that contains "common name", "scientific name" and "spits" code. The survey user searches for a bird by common name ("appearance" field set to "autocomplete") and then picks it from the list. The scientific name and spits code are automatically picked from a CSV list by associated common name and populate their respective fields in the survey. XLSForm CSV Table

Note: Our ArcGIS Online subscription uses enterprise credentials to authenticate named users. In order to get James' stand-alone command line code + script to work, I needed to open ArcMap and sign into AGOL as a named user then run the command line script. Also, to get not only new records from Survey123 additions, but also get any attribute or geometry modifications, I wrote a python script to rename the existing on-prem FGDB, create a new FGDB with the proper name and then populate the new FGDB with S123 features using James’ script.

Andres: Have you tried: Method #1: Log into ArcGIS Online (AGOL) as the named user who owns the Survey123 survey Go to "My Content" Go to the "Item Details" page of the Survey123 "Feature Layer (hosted)" Click the "Export Data" button and choose your export format Name the export and choose a folder location When the export process has completed, click on the "Download" button Method #2: Go to your Survey123 Portal - http://survey123.arcgis.com/ Sign-in as the named user who owns the Survey123 survey Click on the survey of interest under the "Show surveys I own" area Click on the "Data" option in the upper right-hand corner In the bottom right-hand corner, choose a data format and then hit the "Download" button

James: This is a fantastic script – thank you for sharing with the user community. I have successfully used your script to populate an on-prem FGDB from the ArcGIS Online hosted feature service. I used Survey123 to create new survey records and, when run again, the script added/appended those new records to the on-prem FGDB. Then, via ArcGIS Online, I added the Survey123 hosted feature service to a map and moved two points, thus altering the geometry and the value in the “EditDate” field. I ran your script again and the featureclass in the FGDB was not updated to reflect the moved points. Via ArcGIS Online, I then altered the values in some attribute fields of existing records, ran your script again and the FGDB was not updated with the attribute changes. So, if I understand this blog and my test results, your script will only bring down new survey records if the “CreationDate” is newer than the current “SYS_TRANSFER_DATE” and not update/overwrite existing records if the “EditDate” reflects a change in geometry or attribute values. Might you consider modifying your script to update edited records from the hosted feature service in ArcGIS Online to the on-prem FGDB? “Append” new records if the CreationDate is newer than the current on-prem SYS_TRANSFER_DATE “Overwrite” existing records if the EditDate is newer than the current on-prem EditDate Thank you again for sharing your script. Sincerely, Joe

Currently, Survey123 for Windows 10 desktop/tablet (not Windows Phone) is available as a download and install application, only. One needs to manually uninstall the previous version to manually install the current version. Like the Collector for ArcGIS application, will "Survey123-Windows" someday be available as an app from the Windows Store? If not, why not? Thank you

Tara: I think that there are as many field survey scenarios out there as there are field surveyors. Each need is different. In your case, where seeing and editing earlier collected data is useful, then, yes, having Survey123 and Collector on the mobile device is the perfect solution. We have the ArcGIS Explorer, Collector and Survey123 apps on our mobile devices for that reason. And, they are all Free to download and install.

Tara: When you Published your Survey123 survey form, a folder for the survey components was created in your ArcGIS Online account in your My Content area. Go to your Survey123 folder in your My Content area and click the drop-down next to the Feature Layer and choose the Add layer to new map option. Your survey points layer will be added to the map. Now Save your map. Go back to the Collector App and look for your new survey map.

Survey123 is a great way to capture information in the field from an easy to create form. However, the job is not complete until one can take the gathered field data and publish a report. Let’s assume that you’re Survey123 data are not being committed to an on-prem enterprise geodatabase, but instead are located in ArcGIS Online. Your data and related tables plus attachments can be download from ArcGIS Online to you desktop, but now what will you do? Having a file geodatabase with related tables and perhaps photo attachments, how will you create canned reports? Will you use the Report Wizard in ArcMap to create a report? Will you use Microsoft Access to create your report? How often do you need to download your Survey123 field data from ArcGIS Online? What is your workflow? I am interested in hearing from anyone who can share experiences of using Survey123 from field to final report.

Joseph: For our GIS "Instance" on the SQL Server in our shop, our DBA created two seperate DB users, one that has read/write/modify privileges and one that has read-only privileges. In ArcCatalog, I create two SDE connection files to the database (server name\instance, user name and password [using Database Authentication]) - one that our data editors use (the read/write/modify user) and one that data viewers use (read-only user). Match the appropriate SDE connection file with the user's needs. We don't use versioning - it's too complicated and overkill for what we are doing.
