Are there any plans for future releases to allow administrators/publishers of an online subscription to add their own geoprocessing services that are hosted from their ArcGIS for Server? The Analysis Tools in AGOL are great, but are only accessible to admin or publisher roles. I am guessing that this is the case, since the results are stored as ???contents??? rather than returned to the map as a graphic. We need those with a User role to have access to simple analyses, like buffer a feature or features. Programmers who develop with the Flex, JavaScript or Silverlight web APIs are able to add GP tools to their toolbars. Might we be able to do the same in our ArcGIS Online maps in the future? Or, might some of the Analysis Tools be available to a User role and return graphics instead of stored content? Thank you.

Our users will mostly miss the robust feature editing toolset built into ArcGIS Explorer Online, some of which has never been available in the ArcGIS.com map viewer (see attached). With the retirement of Explorer Online, we have lost functionality and are taking a step back in the user experience. But, hey, if you want to make a Story Map, you??re set.

Karen: Have you tried this? Open Internet Explorer and go to: >Tools >Internet Options >Connections tab >LAN Settings button >Uncheck "Automatically detect settings" >OK >OK Now open AGX and see if your Basemap button on your Home ribbon is populated with map options.

It doesn't make sense that I have no options to match pie chart and bar chart colors with my feature symbology/colors. It's a total disconnet from the map legend to the charts for the end-user.

Try searching the internet using words like nydot, arcgis, rest, services, to find map services that can be consumed in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and ArcMap. You might find a result like this - http://gis.dot.ny.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services

Yao: Instead of adding your image service directly from within the map, have you tried adding the Image Service to a folder in your "My Content" area, then open your map and add the image service to your map from your My Content using >Add >Search for Layers? See attached images.

Michael: I was unable to fix my earlier server Site, so I killed it and started over. Since it is a test machine and I did not have many services running, I did not suffer a large hit. Thank you for your suggestion. I will keep that in mind should this issue arise in the future.

Steve: Do you have ArcMap? Are you brining the counties into AGX from a shapefile? Bring the counties shapefile into ArcMap. Symbolize the counties in ArcMap. Right-click on the counties layer in ArcMap and choose Save as Layer File. Open your AGX map and hit the Add Content button and choose ArcGIS Layers and bring your counties LYR file into AGX. The counties shapefile will be symolized in AGX as you symbolized it in ArcMap.

The ArcGIS .com feature editing capabilities pale in comparison to ArcGIS Explorer Online. The table-of-contents in ArcGIS Explorer is much more user friendly, intuitive and modern looking than the ArcGIS .com Java version.

Will this work? Create a file geodatabase (FGDB) and add your featureclass and table. In ArcMap, import your featureclass and table. Join the table to the featureclass and make any symbology changes you wish. Save your map. Now, from ArcMap, create a Layer File (.LYR) of your featureclass and consume the LYR file in ArcGIS Explorer. See attached. If the FGDB is accessible to the ArcMap owner and AGX user, then the ArcMap person can make changes to the featureclass and/or joined table and the results will be available to your AGX end-user.

Ben & Tim: Do you see the same behavior if you use AGX 1750? I have found AGX 2500 to be very buggy. I know that 10.11 map services can be consumed in AGX 1750; I'm not sure about 10.2 services in 1750. In my situation, I have "secure" map services on ArcGIS for Server 10.11. AGX 2500 is unable to even see services in secure folders on AGS. I need to use AGX 1750 to connect to a secure 10.11 map service, then create an NMC file for that connection, then add that NMC file to AGX 2500.

I had an ArcGIS for Server 10.1 instance built and running for months in AWS. Yesterday, I increased the C-drive volume of my AWS Instance and now I cannot connect to my 'Site' in Server Manager. I created a Snapshot of the old C-drive. I created a larger volume from the old C-drive Snapshot. I detached my old C-drive and D-drive volumes. I attached my new larger C-drive volume then my original D-drive volume. I remoted back into my instance and used Computer Management/Disk Management to extend my C-drive to the new space. When I open ArcGIS Server Manager I am given the options to Create New Site or Join Existing Site. Since I already have Server Directory and Config Store directories established, I chose Join Existing Site. When I go through the process to Join my Existing Site, I get the error message "Server machine '10.191.73.212' does not participate in any Site" (see attached). Has anyone else experienced this behavior and have any advice? Thank you, Joe

Harry: Have you discovered the Target Indicator in AGX? http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisexplorer/2500//en/index.html# Turn on the Target Indicator option and the user gets the Lat/Lon position reported live in whatever coordinates they choose (DD, DMS...). Coordinates report the position of the white crosshair on the map. See attached screen capture.
