This isn't anything wrong with your graphics card or ArcGIS Pro. The polygons are "z-fighting" with the ground surface. This is expected, and you can repro in ArcScene even by stacking a world-extent polygon with extruded polys with a small extrusion value. The graphics card can't decide which polygon is on top (ground or the extruded polys) when their values are very close to each other. To prevent them from z-fighting, the polygons can be OFFSET from the "Ground" (using "relative to ground") by some amount. Alternatively you can add MORE extrusion to ensure that the polygons' tops are "Above ground". Z-fighting is pretty well explained here if you're feeling like reading more about it: Z-fighting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I replied to this same query on stackexchange. Here's the answer: Publishing 3D scene from ArcGIS Pro 1.2 - Extruded Polygons are not working - Geographic Information Systems Stack Excha… SUM: Extruded features aren't supported in web scene publishing at the current release of Pro and ArcGIS Online (or to Portal whether on premises or in the cloud).

you can do this - just use symbol layer drawing and order the fills so they merge, as per the help: Symbol layer drawing—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS for Desktop You can blend the symbology for connectivity where streets intersect so you can represent overpasses or underpasses and have line casings where one category of road properly meets another class of road. To achieve this, organize the symbol layers so the symbol representing the filling of the streets is ordered in a group above the outlines of the streets.

FYI, As a 64-bit app, Pro doesn't support personal geodatabases at all (*.mdb) For the GDB problem - create a folder connection to the folder ABOVE the GDB and make sure the GDB is not inside a folder with the same name (or anything else .gdb) - I've seen issues with that sort of nested folder before. Beyond that - I would recommend calling support for more interactive troubleshooting.

Pro doesn't support outlines on multipatches for a variety of reasons. Pro does support outlines on extruded polygons. If you have polys of the building footprint or floor profiles, you can use extrusion to "make them 3D" and use a polygon fill that has an outline, and it will be honored. We have also made the outlines much clearer by using a different rendering technique for them in Pro 1.2 (out soon).

Guys, The reason the default is DirectX is that it has a fallback mechanism called WARP that will work even without a GPU. The option to switch to OpenGL is a troubleshooting option, as some rare people have GPU that support OpenGL better than DirectX, or have out of date drivers for their card that mean that OpenGL works better than DirectX. We've also seen GPUs fail when we request what capabilities they support...those tend to be driver bugs. In general it is a good idea to keep your video drivers up to date FROM THE MANUFACTURER, and DO NOT USE WINDOWS UPDATE to check for new drivers for your GPU.

Yovav, No what Wil wants is instead of adding all layers to ground, putting them all on their own separate surface (not ground). So Add Ground won't help him here. J

ok but besides TINs, how do we know which are "Surfaces"? TINs are special in that they have both symbolization and elevation values in them. What else should be a "surface"? Single-band rasters with the data type set to "elevation"?

wil, I believe the default behavior is that your TIN is added to the ground surface, and the TIN is set to be "on ground". So they are effectively drawn "on themselves". It sounds like what you'd like is for a new "custom surface" to be created for each TIN added, and each TIN to be assigned to this new surface. Is that correct? Regards, Jeremy W.

Wil, This is good feedback. Would you expect this behavior to occur only for single-band data with a bit depth of 8 or larger? What defines a "surface layer" for you?

Guys, FWIW I posited the question to the dev group responsible for the updater infrastructure, and they're discussing possible changes for a future release to mitigate some of these issues. Thanks for bringing this up as a possible enhancement!

FYI: That message means that it's a 32-bit OS. ArcGIS Pro requires a 64-bit host OS (the virtual "windows" you're installing on) to install and run. Dan, Seems like that's not yet supported. Here's the reply I got from our sharing team: "Publishing a web scene layer with a SD is not currently supported. The service url can be added as an item to another portal." FYI, Pro will still _work_ on a VM through WARP emulation of the GPU, but you'll get very poor performance in 3D if you have no GPU on the VM. Are the two systems completely isolated? There's no way to even connect to the production portal from a copy of Pro running on a machine outside the production system?
