"Save as" as an idea? Thought that "idea" was a standard since ArcGIS Desktop 8 🙂 Yes - might end up adding it as an idea. You are right!

Hi - only a few days into 2.0 I tried to send a project zipped to a 1.4 User ... and the project cant be opened. I also can not save it as a 1.4 version project. Is there a plan to introduce this feature into Pro?

No comments so far - here my workaround if anyone stumbles across it: I select the one feature I'd like to highlight using its ObjectID to create a "one-element-feature-set": My_fset = MyLayer.query(where ='objectid = '+str(TheObjectID)) Now I can add that FeatureSet to the map as a draw-element and even (answer to my second question below) give it a basic popup: For the popup I first need access to a feature (also there is only one in the Set): My_feature = My_fset[0] Now I can add it to the map and define the popup in one go MyMap.draw(My_fset,{"title":"Popup-Title" , 'content': str(My_feature.attributes['field_a'])+" "+str(My_feature.attributes['field_b'])+': '+str(My_feature.attributes['field_c'])}) Hope this is helpful to anyone else - and still if there is an answer to my initial question - let me know 🙂

Hi Travis, it is not the NAME of a field that makes it an ObjectID - it is the field type. And this you can not set/get with a *.csv or text file (see graphic, only if the field is of TYPE Object ID it is accepted as such). I am afraid but you will have to store the data in a real table to do what you want. ... At least that is my level of knowledge. I never ever managed to use a *.csv or *.txt or *.tab file and edit the file through ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro.

Travis - if you add CSV or text files, you most likely fail because your data misses the required ObjectID field. See this help topic for explanation (plus this might help, too). You cant edit, do a definition query, select by attribute ... right? You either have to store this data as real tables ( see hlep topic above) or edit the data in its original *.txt/*.csv files (so most likely outside ArcGIS or with a python routine) and then refresh your data in ArcMap and you'll see the changes.

Can you provide one of the tiffs? I think it would be very easy and straight-forward for you to advise how to convert the TIFF using GDAL so it works VERY WELL with ArcGIS. We can also use GDAL to analyze the TIFF - I'd be glad to assist!

And another question: Assume I create a map from scratch using gis.map('MyMap') I can add layers and do many things - I can call the basemaps that are coming with it, just by a short string ('dark-gray','topo','gray','hybrid') ... but what if I want to change the basemap to another item like this great one: gis.content.get('25b5b923fbbb49cf9a39150d3a3150d5') - I have the item, but the gis.map() only accepts short string idetifiers for (included) basemaps. Not possible? Optional: Is there a syntax to use gis.Map('MyMap') in a way that just CLONES an existing Item/Map ? Regards Guenter

Hi, I have no problems adding a feature layer to a gis.map('MyMap') and then make a selection from that feature layer. I can zoom to the single feature fine, query its attributes, update, delete ... but there are two things I cant find that I would like to do MOST perfect would be to open the defined popup for the feature immediately after zooming to it! (the get_html_popup doesnt do that, right?) Second best would be to just select/highlight the feature in the map like I had interactively selected it in the map itself Third best would be to add a label made up out of its attributes ... I have too many features in a map extent to just change the extent ... I need to show the element better .. Any help appreciated. I work in a jupyter notebook ... Guenter

Hi, I searched for the proper syntax to do a query like this ... xxLayer.query(where = 'objectid > 0') but instead of giving it the value (here 0) this should be a variable How is that done? Thanks Günter

In general, the UI and GP tools in ArcGIS are meant to be used with classified airborn Lidar data. Especially the simple editing features are basically meant to change the classification or select/delete points. The ArcGIS documentation has examples for several workflows: Transfer building height, find outliers (QA/QC), ... one of the latest improvements is a method to derive ground points ... I have not used it ... If you want to do mass classification and analysis of unclassified LAS you still most likely have to use specific LIDAR solutions.

Hi, since you can add any tool you want to your tool gallery, this is possible and just a question where the code comes from. Here a VERY SIMPLE Toolbox that uses a python script (and an xml-configuration file) ... Extract the ZIP to any place you like - then all you have to do in Pro is: Navigate to the tool in Catalog Right-click it And either add it to your Tool gallery or Favorites Give it a try ... YES I know - it is a full-blown GP solution for it. To just have a text-input-box in the GUI you'd have to use the ArcGIS Pro API.

Hi, the file is just fine 🙂 But you should recreate the overviews - they seem to be corrupt - and make sure the file is interpreted as "processed" and not stretched when loaded: So proceed like this: Go to the folder you stored the data in and delete the *.ovr file In Catalog /(or Folder view in Pro) open the properties of the dataset and define the source type as "Processed". In Catalog /(or Folder view in Pro) open the properties of the dataset and REMOVE the NOData value (set to 255,255,255) to be empty. Now right-click the image again and create new Pyramids - Nearest Neighbor/LZ77 works fine for this data When adding it to the display now, everything should be fine and since you did Nearest/LZ77 you can still set 255,255,255 background color to be transparent (in the Symbology of the layer) and it will look fine on all levels. I attached the result Regards Guenter
