Donovon, Are you able to invite me to the project as a Worker so I can take a look? You can DM any specific information on this, including repro steps so I know which feature to tap on. Craig

Hello Andrew, Thanks for your feedback and questions. The ability for Workers to self-assign, and for the corresponding work in the Project configuration to support this, will follow our next major release for Workforce which is focused on Offline support. That is tentatively scheduled for Q4 of this year. The ability to create new assignments in the mobile app is a separate issue in our backlog. This ability is is in our longer term Roadmap and I don't have it assigned to a release at this time. In the interim, several users have used the workflow of Collector or Survey123 to create assignments. We've also authored several blogs on how to do this: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/apps/field-mobility/workforce-and-collector-creating-assignments-in-the-field/ Blog discussion: Creating assignments in the field with Workforce and Survey123 I agree that, using paper to track this work negates some of the benefits of using a mobile app; our goal is for Workforce to be better than paper and for your mobile workers to not use paper for any of their field work. Thanks again for the feedback, look forward to any thoughts or comments you have. Craig

Hi Charlie, thanks for this additional info, I've added it to our backlog. It's an interesting idea and solution to the issue of allowing workers to easily get back to Workforce and putting control in their hands. I don't have a timeline on when we'll consider this, as our next few releases are already planned out. It could also help adding this to the ArcGIS Ideas site. Craig

Hi Charlie, You're correct that Workforce has a url scheme with which it can be opened, however, it does not support parameters that would trigger any actions in the app. This is something we've considered, but as stated above, we haven't received many requests for this capability. If you can go into some detail on your use case or scenario, that would help us with prioritizing this issue. Craig

Paul, This comment seems a little different than the comment in the original question: "That seems really inefficient. What if you make a mistake on one of your dispatches, now you have junk stuff in there you can't get rid of. I can see them wanting to have a permanent record of dispatched but there should be some sort of archive. That is just clunky". This comment is geared towards making a mistake and wanting to get rid of that Assignment. We support that workflow through the ability to Cancel an Assignment. It's in the overflow menu for the Assignment. That should support the workflow mentioned above where the Dispatcher makes a mistake and wants to cancel or remove the work. It's conceptually similar to your potential solution - but models the assignment with a status = Canceled. Craig

Hello Reed, How do Workforce and Survey123 interact? Does Workforce store any information about the surveys created during the course of an assignment? Are there other ways in which Workforce and Survey123 store information created in each of these respective applications? Hello, Thanks for your questions on Workforce. 1. If I change the status of a completed assignment to critical, a mobile worker will no longer be able to work on it or acknowledge it, how will it impact my completed assignments. I do not understand the use case for this enabled edit. 2. If as a dispatcher i am able to change the Assignment Type from A to B and both have different Survey's attached to them, would it not impact my data in some way. Both of these are correct, the Dispatcher can change the Assignment Type or Priority of an assignment once it has been completed. We heard of this request from users who typically need to make corrections to assignments after they've been completed. Is this an issue for you in your implementation of Workforce?

Hi James, You are not doing anything wrong; this is current as designed behavior for Workforce. We are considering changing this in an future release, so that filters defined at the layer level will be honored. There's some work for us to do this, due to some implementation decisions. But, this is something we are considering. I've added your post and info to the issue in our repo for this request. Craig

John, Deleting the Group that is created\associated with the Workforce Project is not recommended; we document this here: FAQs for project owners—Workforce for ArcGIS | ArcGIS The Group is used to control access to the Workforce Project. When the Project Owner adds named users as Dispatchers or Workers to the Project; these named users are added to Group so they can access the Workforce Project and it's items. If you need assistance in correcting the deletion of the Group, DM me and we can walk through it. Craig

Robbie, Thanks for the very thorough feedback - this helps a lot. Can I ask you to run a different test? We'd like to know how the device behaves with other apps that use location. Can you use a non-Apple app; such as Collector or Google Maps and let us know if this affects the location being reported? thanks, Craig

By setting the default map I was referring to setting the dispatcher map to a map I had published from ArcGIS server. I'm not quite sure how you are doing this; Workforce doesn't allow the setting of web maps to be different than the two maps created with the Project. I originally enabled popups on the layer so was hoping I could create assignments from any features in the map. This is supported, but with published layers. When you create an Assignment from an existing feature, the Pop-up title will be used for the Location of the assignment.
