*The Geoform is Great when you want your users to be able to add NEW features, but what about editing existing features? *The Editor Template is adequate but not user friendly on a mobile device. I would like the customization and feel of a geoform (where data entry is prioritized) but with the ability of editing existing data. Tech support says "Well you can download the editing template and customize the info pop-up with javascript" Ok, thanks, when I hire a programmer, I'll have him/her get started on that. The templates are meant for us to "Configure First Customize Second". I think a nice-looking-full-screen-data-entry-info-pop-up is what most users want. not this tiny little "Edit" link that pulls up a just as tiny editor box. Lets get this done Esri.

You would need to enable attachments. Do this in the ArcGIS Online "My Content" interface is it's a hosted service. (Layer details ->Edit) -OR- If it's hosted on your own ArcGIS Server, use ArcGIS Catalog to Enable attachments on the Feature Class itself. this will create a Table and a Relationship class so be sure the suer you're connecting to has Edit permissions for SDE.

I used the Flexviewer Builder to start and have several pop-ups configured. I want to modify the XML that gets created with each Pop-up i configured to change the size of a specific layer. I want to make it larger to hold more of that attributes at once without having to scroll. Seems simple enough, but might be impossible without recompiling, I don't know. Any ideas are appreciated.

Great idea. It works well the first time and I can even add more HTML in the .XML file. However after trying to close the box and subsequent clicking on the widget button, there seems to be a problem and the 'highlighted line' underneath the widget button never quite goes away. See Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/C9UTutFtrq So it only works once.

I'm looking for something that seems would already be available: A simple widget that opens a pre-determined HTML or text box. I'm NOT talking the 'About' splash screen. Essentially i am 'taking away' the ID tool from the Header in leu of pop-ups and i want to inform the user that the tool is no longer needed and just click on a feature. i know i could just remove it. but i will get calls. If i could leave the ID button there and just have a simple text box pop up informing the user to just click on a feature instead i anticipate removing the button in a few months. It's about change mitigation. With the amazing user base that we have for the flex viewer, i assume this tool is already created somewhere or it's rolled into basic functionality. What am i missing?

Thanks for the reply Hannah. I have already looked into The Quick Fields. It is a great way to add updates to new features created within ArcPad. However, it does not serve the purpose to pre-populate these fields on a feature edit rather than just creating new features. All that being said I did figure out the code and will paste it below: Sub SetDateCPU
Dim pCtrl1, pPages1, MyDate, pCtrl2, objNetwork, cpuName Set pPages1 = ThisEvent.Object.Pages("PAGE1") Set pCtrl1 = pPages1.Controls("MY_DATE") ' Your Date field here ' **If the below field is a text field the following works - if it's a date field just call Now()** MyDate = MONTH(Date())&"/"& DAY(Date())&"/"& YEAR(Date()) pCtrl1.Value = MyDate Set pCtrl2 = pPages1.Controls("USERNAME") ' Your username Field Here Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") UName = objNetwork.UserName pCtrl2.Value = UName
End Sub Of course you don't need the subs if you don't put it into a VB. I dropped this into a "onLoad" action of the edit form. Works like a champ! Note** this calls the Microsoft WScript Object exe, so there's Windows environment variables that you could call into the script (Domain, CPU Name, IPaddress, etc...)

Greetings all: I am using VBScript to pre-populate a few fields of a point shapefile whether they are new, or edited By a user. I have an edit form and one page with two fields (trying to keep it simple while I get it working). Using the onload event of the edit form, I'm adding this VB: Dim objNetwork Dim userName Dim MyDate Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") userName = objNetwork.UserName MyDate = Now() ThisEvent.Object.pages("PAGE1").controls("USER").Value = userName ThisEvent.Object.pages("PAGE1").controls("DATE").Value = MyDate This populates the USER box with the user's login name, (works great). But it does not populate the DATE field with anything Infact i get an "Object not Defined" error for that line 8. if I swap the last two lines the DATE field gets populated but the USER field does not. This leads me to assume it must be some limitation with the VB that cannot populate two boxes on the same event....? So, I tried putting similar code onto the PAGE1 'onload' event but could not figure out the call. In fact I tried to make it very simple and just pre-populate the field with a fake user name text string: ThisEvent.Object.controls("USER").Value = "Frank" None of them work, no error just doesn't work. I'm at a loss. Arcpad's help documentation is for 10.0 and doesn't really help put the pieces together anyway.

Hello all, I'm trying to figure out how to embed a small JPEG (100px) for use as a legend. Ideally I would be able to open this image when user clicks on a custom button a toolbar. I'm sure this is just a VB command that I don't know. I thought if somebody had already done this I wouldn't have to reinvent anything. I would even be okay if this open the default Windows image viewer. Ideas?

Robert: I have read posts where you fixed the group layer issue in version 3.1.5 and above. I am using version 3.2 with Nested groups and am experiencing issued with layers turning on and off. I would give you a link to the REST endpoint but unfortunately it is not exposed. Here is a link to the screencast of the issue: http://screencast.com/t/ClTsDb5UQeP8 This is a fresh install of the compiled code straight into the widgets folder, no modifications. Please take a look and advise. should i break out these groups into separate services? -Micah

If you change line 26 to "perRow : 2," on "/scripts/home/local.js" it should fix that display error. It's currently added a class "endRow" to every third item which is removing the padding. If you change it to 2, it should only add it to the 2nd item on each column. Or you can remove the endRow class from global.css. That's another option. Hope that helps. YES it does, thanks very much. i know this is an 'unsupported' template. but you go to great lengths to help make it work for everyone, thanks for your assistance.

Greetings. I am using a very stripped down of this template here: http://www.peoriacounty.org/GIS/ You can see that there is a slight formatting error in-between my "IL Legislature" and "Peoria Tweets" applications. I have looked all over this forum and haven't been able to figure out why those thumbnails are different. I am using Grid_8 to get the 2x4 layout but i just can't figure out this misalignment. Any assistance is appreciated.
