So unbelievably disappointed in Experience Builder lacking critical functionality. passing URL Parameters to the find tool is how Soooo many outside applications interact with our GIS. Now that Esri had finally released a 'Draw' and 'Print' widgets, maybe they can get their act together on some of these other BASIC functions.  Will have to deal with using a dashboard like an application until this is fixed.  ... @Jianxia Any possibility we can add a version number to this matrix somehow? For example: What version did the 'Print' functionality get added to ExB? Or is it still only on AGO? Can I get it in Dev Edition? Portal?  I appreciate knowing the road ahead so that I can plan for it, but knowing whether or not I need to upgrade or use AGO to get a feature would be helpful.  ... Hey Guys. If you're here you must be stumped. Some super smart folks in our organization have figured this out and I just want to post their findings. They are OK with me sharing it. I didn't do this, i'm simply conveying what worked for us and our client.  (I'm NOT this smart) Requirement: Allow public access to publicly-shared items in Enterprise GIS, which using IWA for internal users. Server federated w/Portal, client to publish map services, maps and apps to share, some with general public, others with internal users. Does not want anyone to have to log in (except internal users that will have to authenticate with IWA with their domain account on first access). Software: ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 Configuration: Two Web Adaptor locations: Portal and Server WAs in the DMZ to be accessed by the general public, allow anonymous access Portal and Server WAs within the network (on the Portal box), IWA configured Trusted sites added: https://maps.city.il.us/portal https://maps.city.il.us/server Routing: Split DNS configured in Palo Alto w/assistance from <IT CONSULTANT> External DNS routs traffic to DMZ server Internal DNS routs traffic to Portal/WA server Web Adaptor configuration: Installed, configured Server WAs, no complications Set Portal WebContextURL to https://maps.city.il.us/portal Installed, configured Portal WA on DMZ box, backed up WebAdaptor.config Installed, configured Portal WA on Portal box *from internal FQDN URL*, Windows Authentication only in IIS, backed up WebAdaptor.config Initial configuration of Portal WA using external URL would only allow one WA to remain, configuration of one cleared out configuration of the other. This seems to be specific to Portal, as Server doesn't do this. But Portal must be unregistering a WA when you try to register a new one on the same URL. At the end, both Portal WAs remained configured in Portal, although I think the WebAdaptor.config on the internal box was cleared out and had to be manually overwritten from backed up file. Manually changed URL in both WebAdaptor.config files from <URL>https://portalfqdn.intranet.url.local:7443</URL> to <URL>https://maps.city.il.us</URL>. The external WA worked without doing this, but the internal one didn't, so I made the change in both. (Why did I have to do this? Did it have something to do with having the WebContextURL configured? Did it have something to do with internal networking configuration? I only had to do it for the internal WA even though both had the server name as the URL in WebAdaptor.config.) Testing: All testing in incognito or after clearing cache WA changes tested after recycling App Pool Accessed https://maps.city.il.us/portal externally, clicked 'Sign In' link, directed to standard Portal sign-in page, indicating that DMZ WA is being used and no IWA was applied Accessed https://maps.city.il.us/portal while on VPN, clicked 'Sign In' link, prompted for IWA sign-in Published sample map service, granted public access, accessed externally without login ... Also, I experienced this again on another completely clean VMWare Win 2019 instance. Completely different network, completely different client. In-between the two client projects, I ran the Portal 10.8.1 installer on local desktop machine as well as AWS EC2 with no failures. Is VMWare the issue?  Attached is what it looks like just before getting the Non-Responsive error; all the CPUs are flat.  ... Currently experiencing similar issues with a VMware install on Windows 2019 Standard.  Progress bar fills to about 2/3 way and then prompts for a cancel or retry. Quad Core Xeon proc only is using 35% - 39% and memory (16GB) hovers in the 12-13% range. Neither ArcGIS program files folder or c:/arcgisportal folders get created before it times out. IT staff is rightfully vigilant with virus and firewall concerns but I feel that should not impact/kill the install of ArcGIS Portal.  Did the silent install work?  Also, what (Aside from Long term Support) are we missing with rolling back to 10.8.0?  ... This Just Happened again. Bringing it up to the top.  No joke: Here's a Real, Honest question from a Very Experienced (+10 years) GIS user:  Has ESRI done anything in regards to cities having issues with budgeting for unknown future credit usage? Do you know how much cities are typically budgeting for credits? I withhold name because I respect the user and want to make the point that these questions are constant and real. I Wish Esri would talk to their users. These local Gov folks are CONCERNED about BUDGETING MONEY FOR CREDITS!!! How messed up is that? I mean, good on them for thinking about the unknown when it comes to budgets. But: @Esri, You want people to use your software? Dump the credits. ... View more

Adrian and Derek;  Thank you both for your comments. They are similar to the ones I've gotten on Twitter. Please don't misunderstand the purpose of this post. I Understand Credits - how they are budgeted, allowed and used.  My Idea and suggestion here is born out of frustration of my clients. Believe me I have shown them both of your suggestions and that has helped ... to a degree.  I want you to see the larger picture here, this isn's a solution that a help document or video will fix.  Talk To Users.  Average, Ordinary, not on Geonet, not engaged, non GIS, I-already-have-a-full-time-job-doing-something-else users. They don't understand credits or what they are for, they only understand the fear of losing/using credits. Why? Because thats how it was portrayed in the beginning. (before you say "No it wasn't" - yes, yes it was)  Our -And I'll put myself in your Esri shoes here- Our Clients, these beautiful people, have enough confusion with Named Users, Licensing, Server Roles, domains, databases, Rest endpoints, versions, updates, EA requirements, Server Manager, Geoevent Manager, Portal Admin, Federation, SSO, LDAP, SSL, CA, URL, LMNOP. ... etc.. My suggestion is to do away with Credits completely. Turn them off.  If a user is not licensed for a task, product, analysis or action. PUT A LOCK ON IT. We are already used to that with ArcTools.
