Thanks Bruce, but not working there either, at least in PyScripter. PyScripter - application error: Access violation at address 5E0E150C in module 'GpGeocodingFunctions.dll'. Read of address 00000000. I can manually geocode the table in ArcCatalog by right clicking and selecting Geocode addresses.

Line 3 isn't joined to anything, that's the actual path name. table_locations is a module level variable set to table_locations = r"O:\Greg_Working\GDB\Temp_Data.gdb"

I've been trying to geocode a file geodatabase table against a composite locator in a python script. When I run it in PyScripter, it gives an EAccessViolation error, which according to Google is a memory error in the program (PyScripter). But I also get an error when running it in IDLE, although the error message is far less detailed. The composite locator is in a folder on another server. It has both point and road centerline locators. Is it possible to use a composite locator in python, or am I looking in the wrong direction? childcare_table = os.path.join(table_locations, "Childcare")
geocoded_fc = os.path.join(table_locations, "LARA", "LARA_CDC")
geocoder = r"\\gisfile\gis\Static\Geocoders\Composite_Locator"
address_fields = "Street Fac_Addr;City City;Zip Zip"
global ok
try:
print("\nRunning geocoding...")
arcpy.GeocodeAddresses_geocoding(childcare_table, geocoder, address_fields, geocoded_fc)
except:
print("Unexpected error {0}\n\t{1}".format(sys.exc_info()[0], sys.exc_info()[1]))
arcpy.AddError(sys.exc_info()[1])
ok = False

May have found the answer to this problem. Besides adding a PYTHONPATH environmental variable, I disabled background processing in Geoprocessing > Options. So far, the tools appear to run ok from the toolbox. Thanks Dan & Rebecca.

No, this is a tool from Arc Toolbox - Data Management > Photos > Geo Tagged Photos To Points. Also happens on several other tools, such as Table To Excel.We're working on a Citrix VDI terminal. The tools do work on regular PC boxes, as well as in the Python window and Idle in Citrix. My first thought is that it's a path issue, but haven't been able to resolve it that way. Tried setting both PATH and PYTHONPATH, no luck. With PYTHONPATH set to C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages, still errors out, but a different message: Messages Executing: GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints C:\Data\Photos C:\Data\City.gdb\photo_points_path C:\Data\City.gdb\Invalid_Photos_Table_path ONLY_GEOTAGGED NO_ATTACHMENTS Start Time: Wed Aug 24 10:16:21 2016 Running script GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints... updateParameters Syntax Error: Runtime error Traceback (most recent call last): File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\ArcToolbox\Toolboxes\Data Management Tools.tbx#GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints_management.UpdateParameters.py", line 1, in <module> File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\arcpy\arcpy\__init__.py", line 24, in <module> from arcpy.toolbox import * File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\arcpy\arcpy\toolbox.py", line 359, in <module> from .management import Graph, GraphTemplate File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\arcpy\arcpy\management.py", line 26, in <module> import _management File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\arcpy\arcpy\_management.py", line 14, in <module> import _graph File "c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.3\arcpy\arcpy\_graph.py", line 27, in <module> import numpy File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages\numpy\__init__.py", line 137, in <module> import add_newdocs File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages\numpy\add_newdocs.py", line 9, in <module> from numpy.lib import add_newdoc File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages\numpy\lib\__init__.py", line 4, in <module> from type_check import * File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages\numpy\lib\type_check.py", line 8, in <module> import numpy.core.numeric as _nx File "C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages\numpy\core\__init__.py", line 5, in <module> import multiarray ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. Yes, they worked in the Python window, and in Idle, but not from the toolbox. See the attached png above. Failed to execute. I'm thinking it's a path problem, but no luck in fixing it.

I'm running into an error when running various tools from the toolbox (e.g. Table To Excel, Geo Tagged Photos To Points), but they run fine when run in the python window. No one's been able to figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks. Toolbox error attached, python window results below. >>> import arcpy >>> arcpy.GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints_management("c:/data/photos", "c:/data/city.gdb/photo_points", "", "ONLY_GEOTAGGED", "ADD_ATTACHMENTS") <Result 'c:\\Data\\City.gdb\\photo_points'> >>> arcpy.GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints_management("c:/data/photos", "c:/data/city.gdb/photo_points_no_attach_1", "", "ONLY_GEOTAGGED", "NO_ATTACHMENTS") <Result 'c:\\Data\\City.gdb\\photo_points_no_attach_1'> >>> arcpy.GeoTaggedPhotosToPoints_management("c:/data/photos", "c:/data/city.gdb/photo_points_no_attach_all_Photos", "c:/data/city.gdb/Invalid_Photos_Table", "ALL_PHOTOS", "NO_ATTACHMENTS") <Result 'c:\\Data\\City.gdb\\photo_points_no_attach_all_Photos'>

I ran across this suggestion in ArcGIS Ideas from a couple years ago to allow adding bookmarks in ArcCatalog. It sounds like a great idea to me. It can be cumbersome and confusing to jump around a directory structure in the Catalog Tree. Does anyone know if this has been/is planned to be implemented?

That's a good test Dan, thanks. Importing numpy in pyscripter and arcmap python window works. IT is going to rebuild my VDI desktops, see if that fixes the problem.

Yes, there is a numpy folder at C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.3\Lib\site-packages. In the fifth error line from the bottom, '...\arcpy\arcpy\_graph.py', line 27 does import numpy. -graph.py documentation says it integrates the Graph classes.

I ran the tool successfully when directly logged on the other desktop.. Still errors on the VDI connection (see image). I did verify that numpy is in the site-packages library. One other odd thing - when starting eirher ArcMap or ArcCatalog on VDI, getting a 'VB6EXT.OLB' could not be loaded' error. I'm not using VB6 anywhere, so don't know where that's coming from. Only Office product installed is Outlook. Don't know if this is related.

Thanks Dan. We're running 10.3.1. We're using VDI connections over Citrix for our desktops, so that's managed at a server level, meaning I don't know the exact installation setup. I actually have two desktops available to me, I suppose I could try the other one. I opened the script for the Geotagged photos tool, no mention of numpy. It did import ExifUtils, which I found in a modules folder, and no mention of numpy in that either. I can remote into a desktop box that I'm told has numpy installed and try there, or physically go to the site where that box is and log on, but it's Thursday evening now and I've got other stuff to do.
