In a script, I'm creating a feature layer and trying to add it to a map in ArcGIS Pro 2.3.0. When I try to add it though, I get a ValueError. Any ideas why and how to fix it? FYI, I'm running the script in Spyder, Python 3.6.6, which I installed (maybe correctly, maybe not) in the default ArcGIS Pro environment. It seems to recognize the arcpy module, although there's no intellisense. arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management('GPP', 'Area501') m.addLayer('Area501') # ValueError: Area501

Xander Bakker One thing though. Is it possible to use index slicing, like in Python, or do array elements need to be accessed individually? If the latter, it seems like a big drop in usefullness compared to using Python.

I have an Arcade expression that I want to use for labeling. If the label field (named Label) is two words or less, I return the field. This works fine. But if the Label is more than two words, it should return the first two words, followed by a newline, then the rest of the words. In Python, this would be something like lbl_array[:2] + '\n' + lbl_array[2:]. But I can't figure out or find how to slice Arcade array elements like that. I could use a for loop to construct the label, but there should be a way to use the indexes. var lbl = $feature["Label"] var lbl_array = Split(lbl, ' ') if (count(lbl_array) < 3) { return lbl } else { ?? }

Thanks again. That didn't work for me, however. No character appeared. I ended up putting 3 in as its own text and superscripting that. Not elegant, but works.

I was able to get that character by copy/paste, but now want to get the 3 as superscript.

In ArcGIS Pro, is it possible to format the legend label text? I found this instruction - 'Format numbers in legend labels', but 1) I'm not trying to format numbers, and 2) under Advanced symbol options the only option available is Feature level masking What I'm trying to do is format mg/m3 to µg/m 3 , as in 0.002 µg/m 3 for the legend label. Thanks. edit: I was able to get all except the superscript by copy -> paste. Anyway to do that? edit 2: I ended up putting 3 in as its own text and superscripting that. Not elegant, but works.

Thank you Tom. Setting a scale range did the trick. Don't know why it didn't occur to me. Appreciate the help.

I have a map series of counties in my state that also has an extent indicator map frame. I'f like to include a basemap for the main map, but not include it in the extent indicator. If I remove or turn off any layer in either frame, it's automatically removed or turned off in the other frame as well. Is there a way to just include the basemap in the main frame? Thanks.

Awesome, thank you! Not sure of the purpose of the coded values checkbox then, but this works perfectly. Surprised ESRI doesn't feature this more prominently.

I have a field that has a domain. The domain description shows in the attribute table, but not in labels, where the coded value is displayed. I have the check box 'Insert fields with coded value description function' checked. Details: Code snip lbl = $feature["L4STRUCTURES.structure_name"] + "\n"
lbl += "Size: " + Text($feature["L4STRUCTURES.structure_size"])
lbl += "\n" + round($feature["L4STRUCTURES.lat"], 6) + ", " + round($feature["L4STRUCTURES.long"], 6) + "\n" ArcGIS Pro 2.2.1 L4STRUCTURES is a feature class residing on a client's ArcGIS server, and is joined to another feature class from the same source and a local table. Any idea how to get the descriptions to display? Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the actual label gets cut off. We fixed it by converting to annotation, but it would be nice to just have it respect the map frame.
