Hi Simon, You may want to look into using the Aggregate Polygons tool. In regards to your issue with the symbology, please try the following: 1. Open the Layer properties of the polygons > Symbology Tab 2. Select the Symbol > Edit Symbol... 3. Click the Add Layer (Plus sign) button, change the Color to No Color > Click Outline... > Edit Symbol... 4. Change the type to Cartographic Line Symbol > Line Properties Tab > Give the Line a negative offset > OK Best, Melanie S.

Hello, I also was not able to reproduce the issue when running only the dissolve tool in ModelBuilder, if possible, could you please share your model, I'd like to see if there is a common element preventing the dissolve tool from creating multipart polygons. Thanks, Melanie S.

Hi Allison, You may want to play with line fill symbols. It's not exactly what you are looking for, but there isn't a way to specify that a portion of a polygon by symbolized differently than the rest of it, line fills will allow for the symbology of features below to be visible. Best, Melanie S.
