I have a large number of Garmin Monterra's where I have previously been able to successfully deploy Survey123. When I went to re-install the app today (newest version) from Google Play, on ALL of the Monterra's, I get a "Application is incompatible for your device (no carrier)" error message, and cannot install the application. The Monterra's all have the latest firmware update and I am able to install other apps from the Google Store. Investigation of this error reveals that "...the application manifest is requiring cellular networking" as a prerequisite for the app to install. Has ESRI changed Survey123 so it will ONLY work on devices that have cellular wifi and it will no longer work on devices that have just non-cellular wifi?

I think I got past that. Deleted everything and started over...and seems to be working now on 1st and subsequent syncs. The problem now is, when I run the tool from Arc Catalog a SECOND time, I get an in-memory workspace error. Looking at the py code, it appears that temporary data written to in-memory is not cleaned up. arcpy messages:
Failed to execute. Parameters are not valid.
ERROR 000725: Output Table: Dataset in_memory\stat_EVENTS_GRSM_SASQUATCH_SRV already exists.
Failed to execute (Statistics). If I close and restart Arc Catalog, I can then run the tool again. Wondering if the py should be modified to add an in-memory cleaner, or add datetime stamp to the dataset name in memory? Testing the proposed solution...adding arcpy.Delete_management("in_memory") at the end of the script now allows it to be run multiple times during one ArcCatalog session.

It's important to note, that even with a project template, you cannot connect to the root of a drive letter, whether it's a network share, hard drive, or portable storage media. Not sure what the reasoning behind that restriction is.

I manage many terabytes of data, two dozen SDE instances, 8 GIS servers, and the average time I get to spend on any one "project" is 7 minutes in support of a very large campus. Being limited to a "project view" snapshot of some of that data is not very productive. I just had a very interesting conversation with one my staff, whom I asked to try Pro out this week. I don't believe he knows Geonet exists...his feedback on the usability and functionality of Pro was like re-reading the numerous Geonet posts on the topic. 30,000 foot-view....my interpretation of Pro is that most of the core features in desktop will not be in Pro unless end users exhaust significant time in asking for them and "voting" on ideas. There is so much lacking in Pro right now that I'm kind of skeptical that anything released later this year (2 months left) will even come close to anything resembling Arc Map functionality.

" To my knowledge, there is no plan for a Pro "ArcCatalog" as Pro is the fusion of ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, and City Engine Runtime." That's a head-scratcher. What's the business logic for not including a critical component of data management?

Playing with the Project Template Option...wondering if there's more organization-specific customization available with this...like...a default Tool Box that has some of our common, use every project, tools and scripts?

When using project templates, two FGDB's are created. Steps to reproduce: Create a project template that has, say, one connection to an ArcGIS Server, and one Folder Connection; Save it to wherever, in this case, Portal; Instruct another user to create a new project using this template; Two "Databases" are present, the one that was present when you created the template and saved it(yellow), and a new one that is created when the user creates a new project using this template (red); This is confusing, and asking end-users to "just delete the one you don't need" is unrealistic and extra work.

Yeah, I see that. I'm looking at this from the point of view of administering 50+ users....we've had some real problems with the "default" arc map stuff going to users "My Documents", which is on a network share. Asking them to remember to redirect their default folder and GDB each time they start a new project is pretty unrealistic. Different users in different buildings, and we just don't have the resources to direct login scripts to take care of that. I'm thinking some sort of python/Arc Tool box thing "Before you start work hit this button" kind of deal.

From Connect to a folder—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS for Desktop "ArcGIS Pro does not support adding folder connections to the project that access the root node of any disk, for example, C:\ or D:\." This is somewhat of a deal breaker for me. We have many mapped network drives, portable/thumb drives which contain many GIS project and data folders. According to this restriction, I now have to make a separate folder connection to each folder within the mapped network drive (which is many)? That goes against common sense. Just curious what was the reason behind this restrictive work flow.

This appears to be intermittent (and thus not-reproducible) which makes it more frustrating. On 2 out of 5 "imports", it happens. On a new project it never happens. On the imports that fail, changing coordinate system doesn't improve things. This is on a system with dual ATI video cards (quad monitors), and I'm pretty OCD about keeping the drivers up to date. Could this be a directx/openGL issue?

I'm noticing when Pro first start, it makes it more "obvious" to the use where the default "home" folder and GDB is, which is an improvement over how Arc Map presented that information. Is it possible, via some .ini or .xml setting, to modify that? For my organization, we enforce a strict GIS project folder hierarchy, as well as a default geodatabase schema. It would be handy, if upon Pro start up, I could globally enforce a folder/GDB output option that uses this schema/folder structure. Something similar to the way I could enforce enterprise paths when launching Explorer for ArcGIS.....
