Using the sample code for "Creating a map book with facing pages" , the resulting PDF output is very pixelated. No, I am not using any raster data in the source MXD, nor do any of the vector layers have transparency. I do have vector contour lines in the source MXD. I think because of the presence of the contours, arcpy is defaulting everything to 72 dpi. However, def PDFDocumentCreate does not seem to have any parameters that can control the output pdf quality. Is there a way that mass-production map books can be output to high-quality PDF's?

This login does not work, has ESRI moved the FTP source for all of the Spatial Hydro tools? That would be ftp://RiverHydraulics:river.1114@ftp.esri.com/ArcHydro/Setup10.1/ from a web browser. Far more efficient to use an FTP client (FileZilla perhaps) with these login credentials:
ftp.esri.com login: RiverHydraulics password: river.1114 As provided for the initial ArcHydro 2.0.x version here: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/8274-ArcHydro-in-ArcGIS-10?p=35289&viewfull=1#post35289
Stuart

I realize this is a newbie quetion, but....we recently collected event data for 200 miles of roads on an 800000 ac campus. Included is very dense distance data measured with a digitally calibrated wheel, features (signs, culverts, rails), and 30,000 mile-points. I am somewhat overwhelmed by the plethora of transportation data models and Online documentation, which seems more targeted for municipal tranportation (we're in the sticks here!). What would be a good ESRI resource I can start with, where I can trim out all of the "bling" except for lines, routes, and events? One issue is that while no expense was spared on accurately measuring distance, apparantly we got a discount on the GPS attached to the wheel. We pulled centerlines from 6 in air photo, but the event points matched to the event measurements range from 1 ft to 20 ft from the road centerline. With snapping, this shouldn't be much of an issue except at the start and end points of each road segment, where this is a horizontal shift left or right, as well as a linear shift either a few feet before the segment start, or a few feet after it starts. What would be the best way to correct this (as best as possible without manually shifting 30,000 points). Thanks for any direction.

rep gets dropped regardless of the db flavor. Interesting, though, all the table modifications replicate, and I can DROP the representation from a replica, but can't access its properties.

This has been brought up here as well http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/25140-Export-FeatureClass-from-SDE-breaks-Representation-Class?p=210098#post210098. Due to lack of any other answers, I'm assuming that either we're missing something really obvious in the documentation or; very few people are actually using representation and you and I are the only people to discover it doesn't work in a replication environment or; this is the default behavior, and like the "upgrade" to metadata, this makes our job easier.

Is it possible to allow users create feature class permissions in a feature dataset that was created by dbo? Here's the situation: I have created several feature datasets, I want users to be able to import/create their own data into those datasets. Creating a seperate FD per user is not feasible nor supported in our deployment model. E.g. we have one feature dataset named "Vegetation", all users in the organization need to have permissions to create feature classes within that FD. Creating a seperate FD for each user whom must create and edit vegetation feature classes just is not workable. I'd tried given create table and alter dbo schema pemission in SQL, but I still get "You must be owner" errors when a user tries to create a FC in the FD I created for them. Environment is SQL 2008 Basic 64 bit SP1, ArcSDE 10 SP3.

have you deleted the contents of the windows temp folder? C:\Users\username\Local Settings\Temp are you accessing the source data from a path with spaces in it? have you tried performing the same function with the Arc Hydo Tools from Arc Toolbox? What is the projection of the native ASTER DEM? If not projected, there is a problem Have you copied the source data to a NEW directory and started again? How have you filled sinks? With AH fill sinks or another method? How many catchment polygons are there? There is a limit of the number of vertices/FC's that AH can process? Have you tried using a virtual hard drive utility like ramdisk? Sometime AH chokes because it's waiting on your incredibly slow mechanical hard drive to spit data back out. Did you install SP3 before or after HMS/AH? How big is your DEM? Rows? Columns? Have you tried multiplying your DEM by some constant, say, 10000 and coverting to int? See pdf in AH download dir on this topic. Speeds things up.

Attempts to execute the "Add Field" tool fail with "Error 000496 table is being edited" which is NOT true. I am attempting to automate adding many default organization fields to many FC's sitting in ArcSDE workgroup on SQL express, 10.0, desktop is 10.0 (patched). FC is in a FD, registered as versioned, with default, qa, and edit versions. All edits have been previously rec'ed and posted, DB compressed, and NO ONE is attached to the DB editing (why I'm in here on sunday doing this!). I have rebooted the SQL server, the workstation, un-registered and re-registered the FD as versioned, performed all the DB maintenance tasks, change the field name and type, tried other FCs, under no circumnstance or permutation of options can I get the add field tool to work. It always returns "Error 000496 table is being edited". How do I find and kill this mysterious schema look that is preventing me from adding fields to FC's?

I have the exact opposite problem! Annotations and features with representation symbology show past the data frame, with a clip defined as a topo map boundary. No, they are NOT excluded! No matter what I do, even reinstalled SP2, tried with different map documents, annotation and representation symbology ignores any clip options set in data frame properties!

All of these errors indicate that MPI is not installed correctly. I recall it was a big ordeal to get MPI to work. Go to MPI website and follow their installation/troubleshooting.
