These issues are difficult to troubleshoot through the forums. There are many variables that come into play. Probably your best option is to contact ESRI Technical Support. Thanks, Mike

I really can't recommend another forum to post this question. Most people who read these forums have working copies of ArcGIS Desktop and thus, probably don't have a lot of experience with trying to use and modify data without actually having the software. You didn't mention what format your data is stored in. If it's stored in a geodatabase, you'll probably have a hard time trying to modify it. If it's shapefile data, you could try learning about the format yourself or looking for some shapefile editor. Maybe the best thing to do would be to try to find your lost copy of ArcGIS 🙂 or find a friend with ArcGIS who will do the work for you. Thanks, Mike

I would suggest that you post this question in the Geodatabase and ArcSDE Forum, here: http://forums.arcgis.com/forums/32-Geodatabase-amp-ArcSDE You're more likely to get an answer in the above forum than in this one. Thanks, Mike

As far as a time frame, there is no definite time frame set yet. However, this functionality is not on our current release schedule, so that's an indication of where we are. There are some technical issues we need to solve before we can release this--mainly involved with connecting our back end systems. Thanks, Mike

Peachymd, Can you provide more details on what happens? Do you see any error message? Does this happen every time you try to save a map? What layers are on your map? Thanks for any input, Mike

Cathy, Just to be sure, it's working correctly for you now, right? It is possible that the wrong map tile got returned to ArcMap from ArcGIS Online. ArcMap also stores the cache locally so it may have gotten out of sync for some reason. If it ever happens again, you can try clearing the local cache. On the Layer Properties dialog, Cache tab, you can clear the local cache. Hope this helps, Mike

Don, Sorry but Explorer Online doesn't currently support adding WMS services. It is, however, something we're considering for a future release. You might want to post this idea to the new "Ideas" site...that way other users can vote on it too. http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaList?c=09a300000004xET&category=ArcGIS+Online Thanks, Mike

Layer packages are primarily used for packaging up data, thus, it's not typically used to reference services because they don't have data in them. My suggestion to create a layer package with just one shapefile was to validate that the process does work by removing other variables that could be causing the process to fail. So are you able to upload that layer package with one shapefile up to arcgis.com and then download it again successfully? What other types of layers were you trying to include in your layer package? Perhaps you can tell me what your end goal is. Are you just trying to put downloadable data on your website? Mike

No, there is no public roadmap for these products. Probably the best way to give feedback to us is through this forum or the new ideas site, http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaList?category=ArcGIS+Online With the ideas site, other people can vote on suggestions, so it may be a better place to rally support for your ideas. However, if you post some of your ideas here, I can give you feedback on them, where I can. Thanks, Mike

You are correct that ArcGIS.com doesn't really support the workflow you describe. There is only one map author and only he/she can edit the map. Here's an idea you could try... The different people in your group could create their own version of the map by doing a "Save as" then sharing the new version back with the group. As long as people created versions sequentially, all the edits could end up in one map. Not the ideal solution, but it could achieve your end goal. Thanks, Mike

Michael, Perhaps you can try packaging up one layer based on one shapefile into a layer package instead of many. I was also a little confused by the inclusion of ArcIMS layers. As these layers are already services you don't really need to package them up. Creating layer packages is more about moving your data to the server. Another idea would be to try to do this work from another machine. Maybe there is a problem with the machine you are using. If none of these help, I'd suggest calling ESRI technical support. Thanks, Mike

So you are trying to add a reference to an ArcGIS Server map service? And it works in Chrome but not FF or IE7. Very strange. I don't know what could be happening here. What is the URL to the map service you are trying to add? Is it a public service that I can access? Thanks, Mike
