OK, I installed Google Chrome 6.0.408.1 and it works for me... I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you. Thanks, Mike

I've tried this on a Windows machine configured with French, using the French version of firefox and am not able to reproduce this problem. If you have any further information on how to reproduce it, that would be helpful. Thanks, Mike

Well, Ted... You seem to be ahead of the game. I can only find (easily), Google Chrome 5 beta, which is version 5.0.375.55. Installing the version 6 beta seems to take more work... So, since this works in my version, perhaps we can assume that this is a Google 6 beta bug? We'll keep an eye out. Perhaps you can downgrade your Google browser? Mike

Simon, I too am able to add your service, so I'm not exactly sure why you can't when on your network. You might try adding the map service directly to the map via the Add dialog on the toolbar of the map. Choose to search "A GIS Server" and put the REST url in the URL box. If you find out anything more about why it's not working, let us know. Thanks, Mike

Can you share the URL to your web service so we can try it out? How are you trying to add your map service? Can you provide the steps you are doing? thanks, Mike

Presently, you can only add map services as layers to web maps. We're working on supporting layer packages and "web enabling" them so that they can be added over a web map. Thanks, Mike

So the basemap list never displays for you? I have seen this behavior once myself (on an english version), but was unable to reproduce it consistently. Thanks, Mike

Ted, Can you clarify this post? This is what I think you are doing... From the Map 1. You find a layer on your local server and "Use as basemap". Everything is working fine at this point. 2. Then you add a "real basemap". How are you doing this? Are you choosing from the Basemap button on the toolbar? If so, you've just replaced your custom basemap with this new basemap. So you won't see your data anymore. 3. Then you add your layer over the basemap. Is your layer a dynamic map service or cached? What basemap are you trying to display it over? Are your services available for me to try? I am not able to reproduce the problem you are seeing. If you could help me narrow down the problem, that would be great. Thanks, Mike

Hi Ted, Are you trying to rename a folder in arcgis.com? There is no right-click option to rename a folder. Instead, you create a new folder, go to the old folder and move all items to the new folder. Then delete the old folder. Perhaps you can elaborate on the steps you are doing. Thanks, Mike

With ArcGIS.com, by default you'll only see content that opens in a Web browser. You can change this setting at the top of the Website and show all content, including content that opens in ArcGIS Desktop. If you make this setting change and do your search again, I suspect you'll find what you're looking for. Mike

Others have requested the ability to search for and view user profiles when users ask to join a group. However, we've not implemented any user search due to privacy concerns. We are currently working on adding a "description" property to the user profile. If the user allows this to be seen, we can expose this description to the group administrator when that user asks to join a group. FYI, you can share items with everyone or share them with groups. You can't share items with individual users. Mike ArcGIS Online team

What are you uploading? Layer packages and map services will automatically have a thumbnail because layer packages have an embedded thumbnail in the package and a thumbnail can be automatically generated from a map service. However, map documents (mxd), layer files (lyr), globe documents (3dd) don't automatically have thumbnails because the file itself doesn't have a thumbnail inside of it. So these have to be created after the item is uploaded. Mike
