I believe that the Project Z tool cannot use a Geoid. Therefore the height that you get is Ellipsoid height which is not typically sufficient for modeling stormwater sewer.

First to everyone posting here, I think support would be best served if you started a new thread for SPECIFIC issues. For those who don't know TrimblePositions Desktop supports 4 different field softwares (Terraflex, Terrasync, ArcPad, and ArcGIS for Windows Mobile). Each one of these field solutions have very different workflows, configurations, and requirements. For example, ArcGIS for Windows mobile is the only workflow that requires a TrimbleSessions layer be present in the mxd. However, regarding the absence of the extension in ArcMap, try going into your program files folder where the add-in is installed. On my 64 bit pc it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Trimble\Trimble Positions Desktop add-In\AddIns. Close ArcMap. and then double-click the add-in to register it manually.

Can you elaborate a little more on this? I get that the GenID table should not be versioned. However, in a versioned environment, how does this avoid dup ID's? Should all users editing featureclass be working in the same version so that they get an implicit reconcile and thus update that last increment? Or will this work if all users have their own/separate version? I hate to assume.

You may use SDE or a file gdb. The rest of your workflow depends on your project type: ArcGIS Mobile, ArcPad, Terrasync, or Terraflex. What Dave is referring to is for ArcGIS Mobile.

Tip 1: Don't use shapefiles. File GDB featureclasses are much more reliable and consistent when it comes to editing. Tip 2: When getting an additional warning that the number of records don't match the number of rows, make a backup copy of the shapefile. Then delete all of the file extensions for the shapfile except the shp, dbf, shx. Copy the dbf to another directory and then add it to a blank ArcMap where you can edit it. Hopefully it will be obvious which records should be deleted. Typically these will be exact duplicates. Delete them both. Then go back to the copy where the shp is and rename the dbf to "<name>_old" then replace with the edited dbf file. Worked great for me!

Try using the Curve Calculator. I believe it is on the COGO toolbar. You should be able to enter the radius and arc length and it should give the rest of the parameters you are looking for.

You can always grab the two adjoining polys, and do a construct from parent. Then mark all of the "bad" lines as unbuildable.

Open ArcMap and add your data. Go to file|Sign in using your organizational account. Then go to File|Share As a Service and use hosted services as an option. You should have no problem using more than 1000 features. If you decide to use them in a web map or app you will get errors in performance. To fix this, add it to the web viewer and set a scale dependency on it so that no more than 1000 features are not being rendered at once.

Hi Travis, I will have to check in on the adjustment buffer. We have heard some concerns on data that wasn't coincident with parcels and shouldn't be furthermore. In testing, we didn't see any weird behavior where unintended vertices were moved however. To answer your first question, the vectors they are talking about are not like vector data but more like actual vectors that you would learn about in math and science school. They have a "bearing and magnitude"--that is, a direction and a distance. That said, when you build your fabric and associate other layers to it, the data gets time stamped. Whenever you do a parcel edit and move a vertex, that vertex has a displacement vector associated with it (storing the bearing and distance). So that distance and direction is applied to the associated vertex in the associated feature class.

Whoa!!! First, you never want to export data from a gdb to a shapefile and then re-import it back into a feature class. Doing this could compromise the topological integrity of the data. If you need to copy & paste (import/export) data from a gdb then you should keep it in a gdb for as long as possible. There are things like precision and tolerance that behave differently in a feature class vs a shapefile. Second, are you using the specified topology rules for migrating to the fabric? The "must not intersect..." is referring to places where parcel lines are not broken at their intersections. There are 2 ways to handle these: use Planarize on the parcel lines or shift+select in the Error Inspector, Right-click, choose "split." If the errors persist after this, then it is possible that you get the error due to a self-overlapping line. I know this error pops-up on an basic overlapping line even though it wants you to subtract a line. You may have come across mention of "marking errors as exceptions" which can be loaded into the fabric, but you only want to use this when they are legitimate. It's hard for me to think of any examples b/c they've done such a nice job with the model but then every organization is different. Furthermore, it will be a headache to clean up these errors (sliver poly's, holes, etc) in the fabric after the fact. The concept of the fabric is that the parcels are highly dependent on the COGO so you will want your data to improve as you move forward--not move forward and then go back fudge some things to close, and then finally add COGO as you progress. Can you possibly provide some more info on the number and type of topology errors you're getting? Once you've edited the data using a topology and saved them, the changes are made to the data. So deleting it will not affect your data, but you will need it for fabric migration.
