The cache files or the scales? I believe you need to drag and drop the service in from catalog, not the cache files. I've tested out the tool, and it will skip the scales i removed and automatically zoom into the next existing scale. If you get the tool working, make sure you have the scales listed that you want to keep, not the ones you want to delete.

You could try using group layers with scale dependencies in ArcMap. Create 2 group layers. Put your country data in one, and the province data in the other. Then set the scales you want the data to show on the group layer. Hope this helps!

Hi Paul, Directly from the ArcGIS resources page: "The REST API Map Service resource works only with the default data frame of your published map document. This resource provides basic information about the map, including the layers that it contains, whether or not the map is cached." ArcGIS REST API Hope this helps!

I had a similar issue, and had to uninstall Server and re-install. I guess something corrupted during the install.

Hmm, deleting and rebuilding the Status.gdb would have been my first solution too. Have you tried overwriting/re-publishing your service?

Hi, Have you tried the Manage Map Server Cache Scales tool at all? It should be able to delete existing scales from your existing service. ArcToolbox -> Server Tools -> Caching -> Manage Map Server Cache Scales. Jennifer

The Area of Interest parameter is very good to use, however it will cache all intersecting tiles. This means that you may get a small amount of additional cache around your area of interest. This may be okay depending on what you are trying to do. Another route to take (if you do not want additional cache to show): I would suggest adding a white polygon to your map document to mask the area you do not want to show in your cache. Just make sure it is at the top of your table of contents. You will need to republish your service to do this. You could also try exporting your cache using an Area of Interest as well. I believe this maintains the exact shape of the Area of Interest. Good luck!

Hi Andrew, No, there's not really a specific format I was looking for the site to support. I was just curious if the capability was there. Thanks for the quick response!

Hi Berk, As Owen mentioned, if you're data frame color is black it will definitely cause this issue. Try changing the data frame background to "None" and re-publishing a NEW service, and then caching. As for only parts of imagery being cached there are two things I would take a look at: 1. Does your Area of Interest for caching cover the full extent of you imagery (assuming you're using one) 2. When publishing your service, ensure that you have zoomed to the full extent of your data. - I would then make sure this extent is set in your Data Frame properties (Data Frame Properties -> Data Frame (tab) -> Under "Extent Used By Full Extent Command", choose Other -> Specify Extent -> Ensure "Current Visible Extent" is chosen -> Click OK. Then publish after this.

When configuring the Open Data site, is there a way to switch back to the Wizard once you've been working in the Code section? I switched to the Code when working on the layout, and now the Wizard tab is greyed out.

Not sure how you're using your service, but you could create the service using a Mixed format which provides a transparent background to your service. Then you can overlay it on ArcGIS Online using the basemaps there and save a map from there to use.

Hi, I tried this out with some test data and it seemed to work. 1) In a new map document or data frame add your raster. 2) Create a polygon around your raster. Any shape, just make sure it's more than 5m away from the edge of the raster. The exception is drawing the one edge of the polygon right along the edge of the top row without any space. 3) Create a second polygon (new feature class) around the first. 4) Start an edit session (if asked, choose to edit the outer polygon). 5) Select the inner polygon. Then from the Editor drop-down menu choose Clip (the Buffer Distance should be 0, and press OK). This will erase the inner polygon from the outer. 6) Save edits and stop editing. 7) Start a new editing session (if asked, choose the inner polygon). 😎 Select the outer polygon. Then from the Editor drop-down menu choose Clip (the Buffer Distance should be 5, and press OK). This will erase 5m from the boundary of the inner polygon. Since the top of the inner polygon was touching the edge of the raster, the boundary of the inner polygon is now 5m inside your raster at the top. 9) Save edits and stop editing. 10) Clip your raster to the inner polygon. (Clip tool in Data Management). Best of luck, Jenn

Are you specifying the Pixel Type in the tool? If you haven't done so already, I would suggest opening the Properties window of your mosaic dataset via ArcCatalog. Under the General tab, under Raster Information. Look at the Pixel Depth and Pixel Type. Try using these values as the input for the Pixel Type in the tool. I noticed the 16-bit unsigned ranges up to 65,535 so maybe you were choosing that. If your data is 16-bit unsigned, then it could be that it shows the min and max values for that pixel type in your table of contents in ArcMap. However, the values in your DEM may not meet the min and max, it's just telling you the range associated with the colour ramp. Do you have pixels that you can find in your DEM with a value of 65,535? If it is just showing the min and max values possible (not necessarily the min and max values in your DEM), then you may be able to do a custom classification in your symbology. Jenn
