We are excited to announce the release of the patch ArcGIS Reality Studio 2025.1.1, aimed at enhancing user experience and addressing key feedback from the initial release.

Same features, just better

Here’s a quick overview of the key improvements you can look forward to:
  • Elevation Source Fix: Resolved the issue where using a DSM as an elevation source for drawing correction geometries was not possible.
  • Water Body Feature Enhancement: Coarse water body feature is more robust for oblique datasets.
  • Mesh Edit Package Updates: Edits from imported Mesh Edit Packages are now always reflected in the DSM.
  • Image Optimization Stability: Fixed a crash that occurred when Image Optimization was requested without specifying a workspace.
  • Capture Session Reliability: Addressed crashes that could happen when clicking Finish on a Capture Session creation in cloud environments.
  • Cloud Storage Alignment: Resolved issues with running alignments when images are stored in cloud storage.
  • Import Functionality Fix: Users can now successfully import capture sessions from Reality Studio into ArcGIS Pro as frames and cameras tables.

Why Update?

Updating to the latest version not only resolves existing issues but also equips you with improved features that can significantly enhance your productivity and project quality. By adopting the latest tools and fixes, you ensure that you are leveraging the full potential of ArcGIS Reality Studio.

How to Update

Updating is simple!
ArcGIS Reality Studio is now available for download from My Esri.

ArcGIS Reality Studio 2025.1 introduces lidar data integration to improve the quality and completeness of geospatial products. Lidar data is complementary to the imagery data, especially in cases where the geometry of the surface is difficult to reconstruct from images only -such as highly reflective surfaces, dense vegetation, low-texture areas like concrete or snow, or complex urban environments with occlusions.

ArcGIS Reality Studio version 2025.1 has been released and is now available for users to download from My Esri.
This blog contains some highlights of this version's new features. For a complete list of everything new or improved, please check What's New documentation page.

Key Features and Enhancements

Lidar Support

  • Enhanced Reconstruction: Now you can leverage lidar data collected alongside aerial imagery. This improvement is particularly beneficial for challenging environments, such as dense urban areas with reflective buildings.

Editing and Export Capabilities

  • Mesh Editing in the App: Edit 3D meshes directly within Reality Studio. Draw correction geometries to fix artifacts like incomplete building facades, enhancing the quality of your mesh products.
  • External Mesh Editing: Use external editing software to refine your 3D meshes. Mark areas for updates, generate edit packages, and import them back into Reality Studio for reprocessing.
  • Quality Control Geometries: A new geometry type allows you to track and manage areas affected by artifacts, ensuring high-quality outputs.

Mesh Export Capabilities

  • Extended Export Tools: Export meshes in various formats, apply vertical shifts, utilize color lookup tables for texture correction and clip to a region of interest.

Alignment Enhancements

  • Gallery View: Adjust the layout of the image measurement tool to view one, four, or nine images simultaneously for efficient measurement placement.
  • Improved Quality Assurance: New metrics for evaluating alignment quality are now accessible through the QA tool and alignment reports.

  • Distributed Image Optimization: Submit image optimization processes to a workspace for distribution, significantly reducing processing time.

Other Improvements

  • Faster Reconstruction Updates: Experience improved processing speeds when updating reconstructions.
  • Optimized Meshes: Generate meshes with better rendering performance for mobile, web, and AR/VR applications, while also reducing disk space usage.
  • User Experience Enhancements: The process manager now groups processes based on their state, making it easier to monitor and manage your workflows.

Conclusion

With these exciting new features, ArcGIS Reality Studio 2025.1 empowers users to create high-quality 3D models more efficiently than ever before. Dive into the new capabilities and elevate your projects today!
