I have an AGOO and Survey123 Connect (v3.0.128). Goal: I would like to use a survey to create a publicly visible web map that displays two geopoints that are automatically connected by a line. The points and line would be immediately visible to the public. The final product will be a web mapping application, story map, or dashboard for a conference icebreaker event where each participant will enter their own location and the location of their favorite artist. A line will be generated automatically between the 2 points, ultimately forming a web. The lines are only for visualization so no routing information is needed. Questions: Is there a Survey123 Connect tutorial or sample survey that shows how to use the repeat to collect two points with one survey123. Is it possible to automatically connect the points using survey123 or ArcGIS Online (no routing needed). Thank you!

Do you know of a good demo/tutorial on how to use ArcGIS online Assistant? I told a teacher in Canada’s about it and he wants to learn how to use it. Thanks, Allison

Something that works well: I use the homepage of the GRACE Project AGOO to advertise Esri's AGOO competition. The advertisement is a text announcement that links to a story map about the Michigan AGOO competition. The story map has a link to an entry submission form that I created with the survey123 web designer (no download needed). The resulting survey123 spreadsheet can be cut and pasted into the spreadsheet that the state submits to Esri. I used rules to shorten the survey if less than the maximum number of entries (5) are submitted. The locations, school names, and divisions of schools are also shown on a map in the story map. Hello Scott! Yes SIngle Sign-On sounds like the best option! I will ask if the school/distric has this and, if not, if that is an option. It seems like something the Tech folks would have to answer. Allison

Thanks Randy! My goal: I want to make sure the teachers can check their students work but not let the students in the class see each other's answers. My issue: I have encountered resistance to letting multiple teachers in the school become administrators. New question: If the teacher requires that students share their work to a (class) group that means the students in the class can see each other's answers right? Allison

I am working with a school to set up their School AGOO for a GIS program. There will be privacy questions in upcoming meetings and I want to make sure I understand - the teachers need to be administrators to see their students my content page correct? And that means they will be able to see the my content page of anyone in the AGOO correct? Thanks in advance! Allison

The K-12 school I am working with has applied to start a new CTE class in the fall and they plan to teach GIS. Internship preparation would be incorporated into the CTE class. They are interested in getting their high school students into law enforcement internships. The assistant principle wants me to be on the advisory board for their school which is an Applied Science Focus and Innovation (EST) Pathway school for their district. The teachers are interested in using a three tiered approach for students as they become trained for certification. I suggested the terminology of the GRACE model explorers, investigators, and interns and they like it. That way students can begin as explorers in middle school and be at the intern level by 11th or 12th grade. They want to integrate training for the entry level certification into their curriculum. I told them about the T3G webinar, M.A.G.I.C. for Schools and how the presenter is a contact person for helping school integrate training - so students can work toward the certification. The team leader wants as many contacts about integrating GIS into the curriculum as possible. They found the webinar recording to be helpful. One great thing about the webinar is that I realized a point of confusion - that I needed to clarify between the terms certificate vs certification. The teachers like the idea of students electing the pathway at each stage (explorers, investigators, and interns)- so even if students did not train all the way to the certification level they would still have a sense of accomplishment. They talked about creating their own school certificates as the students complete each level They envision the GIS Program being in place next Fall. One thing I realize is that it is important to explain the role of a AGOO administrator in getting the program started. In this case the administrator is not a teacher. Regarding the teachers use of GIS in the classroom: The lead teacher is very excited to use GIS for project based learning with his class of 10th grade students. In particular he wants to use GIS to collect data. The students will sample drinking fountains for lead within the school. His R&D course has a chemistry focus and he has ordered water testing kits that test for lead and copper (harmful chemicals). They are also interested in water quality of a local river. The lead teacher is very excited that cell phones can be used to collect data. The middle school teacher was excited to learn about Michigan Basin geology layers and possibly using the view shed tool to show how light travels. The environmental science teacher with some GIS background is very interested in showing land cover change with remote sensing.

Hello I am helping set up a K12 AGOO in which students will have unique usernames (probably their student id). As members of the AGOO some students will do Esri Online training and get certificates. The school would like them to keep their training account/records after they graduate even though they will have to leave the AGOO. Will this happen if the account's email is changed to one that is personal for the student (such as gmail) before removing the student from the AGOO? Would the student have to change their email anyplace else such as their MyEsri Account? It would be great if they could keep access to that training account with the certificates - especially if they want to take additional free courses or go to a college/job where they will have access to courses again. Page 29 of this document has been very helpful ArcGISOnlineOrgsForK12Schools.pdf Thanks in advance! Allison

https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/administer/invite-users.htm “For Role, you cannot select Administrator or a custom role with organization administration privileges during the invitation process. You can change the roleafter the member has joined the organization. If you chose 1 for the member level, you can only select the default Viewer role or a custom role that has some or all of the Viewer privileges.” Being able to set set the admin role in the csv would help ensure there is more than one admin for the school and produce a record ( csv) as a reminder of who the backup admin is.

Hello James Here are some notes I made for myself on how to share a survey123 with the public but keep the responses hidden. After making the survey I had to open my AGOO and find the folder that was automatically created. It contained the three files shown in image 2. To make a public survey123 where data not visible to the public: Go to your AGOO my content and find the folder with your survey. In the example below the folder is called Survey-RUSD You need to change two checkboxes to change in the Feature Layer (hosted, view). This layer has the word fieldworker at the end of the layer name. Open the item details (click on ellipsis …) and open the settings tab. See the example below in image 1. the Feature Layer (hosted, view) and Form are shared with the public (globe icon). See the example below in in image 2 the Feature Layer (hosted) is not shared with the public (padlock icon). See the example below in image 2 Image 1 What you will see when you open the settings tab in item details of the Feature Layer (hosted, view). Image 2 The field worker layer item details (ellipses) is where to change the default settings. Two items are shared with the public and one is not. Allison
