Hello I am trying to make a story map or configurable web app where the pop up information displays in a side panel. I am sure I saw this option - but don't know where. I am designing an app for a possible internship provider for high school students. The 'client' said he wished he could move the pop up so it would not cover up the feature - so I suggested the side panel. The interns may have to use this in the field so I think a table could take up too much room on the screen. Suggestions, ideas, warnings welcome! Thanks in advance, Allison

Yes an administrator in an AGOO can invite community members to the AGOO. One way to do it would be to have They create a free public AGO account They go to their profile and select to make it visible to everyone (public) make their profile public under their profile you go to or create a group for them to join in your AGOO under groups you click on invite users uncheck the box to Only search for members in The GRACE Project Organization. search for their name or username. Here is what it looks when I searched for my username: The invitee will get an email with instructions to join the group

When I open a tool in the Admin Tools app there is a video link and question mark in the top right corner. GeoJobe also has a YouTube channel with playlists GEO-Jobe - YouTube Clicking on the question mark takes you to help documentation (below) and images. Welcome to Admin Tools for ArcGIS℠ Online Before using Admin Tools for ArcGIS℠ Online, it is recommended that you view the Quick Start Diagram. You can also view the GEO Jobe Knowledge Base for how-to's and troubleshooting regarding GEO Jobe products, including Admin Tools. Close this window by clicking the X symbol in the top right. There is a free app called AdminTools that allows you to change things in the AGOO in batches. That may be of some help. There is a paid version that has a free trial period that probably allows batch changing of names. It works by exporting as a spreadsheet, making changes and then importing the spreadsheet back in. That allows the administrator to make many changes without so much clicking. The developers are very open to suggestions if these functions do not currently exist. Here is the link GEO Jobe Admin Tools for ArcGIS Online

Hi Alex I did this with a group of students using the Collector App. We were in the field and I could see the points other people were adding within seconds of mine. We were doing an inventory of playground equipment type and condition. Each person had a smartphone and downloaded the collector app (and signed into the school AGOO). Allison in Michigan

I am wondering about how a teacher can share a story map publicly if working in a school AGOO where the security settings restrict members from sharing items publicly. I tried to create this situation in my developer account but my map was still visible when I put the url in another browser (where I was not logged in). Maybe that restriction does not apply to administrators ??

I appreciate the is question Margaret! It seems there are different ways to share Living Atlas Layers with the public. From the link you gave, there are directions for Story Maps and Configurable Web Apps. I have found it easy to do with a Map Series template. I am wondering if it possible to share Living Atlas layers in a web map and/or presentation. I am currently assistning teachers who are submitting student Presentations, Story Maps and Configurable Web Apps for the Esri National K-12 contest. I am not sure what to tell them if they have a presentation with a living atlas layer that is not showing up to the public. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Allison in Michigan

Hi Della One major ah-ha moment I had was when learned the difference between folders and groups. Folders contain items (maps, documents, apps etc) and are only for the use of an individual to help them organize their work in their My Content. Folders are containers and are not visible to anyone else (except administrators). Groups on the other hand are more points of sharing items rather than containers - that is, an item can only be in one folder but can be shared with one or many groups. There are quite a few ways to share items, but here is one way. The following is how I would share items with a specific class of students in a school AGOO. For this example I will use a group that I created named “Earth Science Miss Hoff”. As the teacher I would: Log in to my AGOO and go to menu item Groups Open the group called “Earth Science Miss Hoff” Click edit Scroll down and select the radio buttons Private under Status and Members under Contributors By selecting the status = private, only group members who sign into the AGOO (my students and I) will be able to see the content that is shared to this group. By selecting Contributors = Members (my students and I) can share maps, documents, images etc with this group. To share a map with this group the student (or I) selects the Share button. The Share button can be found in three places: the item Details Page, the Map Viewer, and My Contents. When I click the share button a pop-up window appears with some check boxes. I place a check in the box next to “Members of these groups” and a check in the box next to the group “Earth Science Miss Hoff”. Only members that I have added to this group have a check box for the group “Earth Science Miss Hoff”. When I or a student make these two check-marks the item will be visible to the members of the group. (Note: If the other check boxes are checked as well the item becomes visible to people outside the group). There are a couple of ways to make the group visible to the students. In this example I would tell my students to log in to the School AGOO and go to the menu item "Groups". Since they are group members the “Earth Science Miss Hoff”group will be visible to them there. They click on the group icon and then them shared items will appear!

Hello and thank you for this information! I contacted the AAG/Esri ConnectED GeoMentors Program and recieved this additional information: GeoMentor volunteering can count toward the professional service requirements of the GISP, earning an individual points towards their GISP certification or renewal. Upon reporting a successful GeoMentor engagement, GeoMentors receive a program certificate for their records which is useful for documentation for their GISP certification or renewal. GeoMentors staff may even create a case study from their experience to help encourage others to get involved in the program and the online case study post could be used for documentation as well. To learn more about the GeoMentors program, visit the GeoMentors program website or sign up directly online today.

Is there an online resource such as an AAG or Esri website telling GIS professionals and students that/how they can earn credit toward becoming a GISP? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know how to put a live webcam inside of a pop up, preferably in a map note? I currently have to make a hyperlink to see it. Here is the map I am making http://arcg.is/1XKFkJi and the map note is called Old Faithful. The URL I am using is National Park Service Webcam http://www.nps.gov/features/yell/webcam/oldFaithfulStreaming.html Joseph Kerski

Good question Della, I wonder if there are versions without answers for teachers to hand out to students. Otherwise teachers will have to retype them, right? Charlie Fitzpatrick
