so i just updated to version 3.5.2 today. i have discovered that the ability to choose whether to resize a layout element proportionally or not, has dissapeared. the option is still there for map windows or scale bars, but all text boxes and layout elements no longer allow dissproportional resizing. incredibly annoying. the first image is how these element properties look today, and the second image is how they were last week. note the lack of the little icon to choose proportional resizing..

i agree with almost all of the above. most importantly, being able to share .lyrx files that include the templates would be so usefull. then individual users can change aspects such as their unique personal id etc. also please, automatic date added to each newly created feature.

hi, i have a similar issue that isnt really addressed by the previous solutions. our geological maps and data commonly have points for localiteis where structural data has been collected in the field. often more than one reading is taken at each point. the points are rotated symbols visually showing the orientation of the structure in question (dip of a bedding plane or rock surface etc). these points are also labelled with a value corresponding to the angle of dip of this plane, as shown in the image below. so the issue with the previous workaround is that i cant label the point with the symbol as i need the label for the numeric value. so i require the entire object; symbol and label to be distributed around the point location with an accompanying callout/leader to show exactly where the reading was taken. this should be available as a dynamic option and also map scale dependent so that this can be shown on a layout. at the moment i am essentially losing data as i cannot use the 'distribute' tool as i am left with inaccurate point data that doesnt tell the reader/user where the measurment was taken. i would love to hear that this has progressed to development, especially when i can see from other comments that this is possible in QGIS. i might have to learn that software after all........

You can just paste it from windows. This works for annotations anyway

I am running 3.0.3 and am working on a project that has been months in the making. i have not experienced this before. my workflow hasnt changed. the polygon feature class (in a .gdb) is not a new type, just recently regenerated after editing arcs. i applied the symbology from another layer... then this problem. i am trying to add a unique value (new code from the same attribute used to symbolise to date), and get this message. i cant sort the symbology pane, cant adjust the symbology of the new attribute. cant do anything really. i have restarted, remade the polygon in another database, emptied my cache....etc basically tried all the tips here. how can this errror/bug/whatever still be the same over the course of software updates from 1.0 to now....3.0.3!!?? come on ESRI!

i have the same issue. also a geologist and looking to find the intersection of a 3d plane (bedding plane with known dip/strike) with a 3d surface. why is there no tool for this? it seems like a common geologist problem to extrapolate the expected outcrop of a particular unit? i can make a 3d polygon, or multipatch polygon from a known outcrop trace. i have a 3d raster dem, also TIN surface. i cannot find a tool within ArcPro that can interpolate the intersection betweeen the 2 features.

I also see this behavoir. Typically when I copy a file into a project folder such as a .lyrx file (these never update)... then browse to the folder, refresh... nothing. Ever. I have to restart Pro to get It to show the file.

i totally agree. i see this warning, can tell that performance is being degraded by slow redraw due to transformations.... BUT... cannot find out easliy which layer is the culprit! in a typical project i may have 20+ layers. to go through them all to find the error seems so unneccessary. the software knows that there is a mis-match, as it has just told me but why cant it tell me the specifics. surely this is a tiny bit of additional code to return the layer and its projection in the warning? perhaps a tab in 'contents' that shows this? i would also give this loads of kudos but unfortunately can only give one!

Hi Magda, i have experienced the same thing. my maps also take 20-30 minutes to export to .aix and then about the same time to open in Illustrator! i am not really sure why this is but i think from looking at the Illustrtator file in detail that all the datá outside of the map frame is also exported as well.... at least it is all there just not shown. these type of things seem to result in uneccessary data bloating the file size and processing speed. i work with a top-end PC and my colleagues with top-end Mac and we both experience the same issues. if you ever find out how to speeed this up i would be super interested to hear. thanks nigel

i also agree. this would be a huge help instead of having to open a new map and populate it the same as already done... apply symbology etc etc, just to, for example make a new layout. clone map is a great idea.

Hi, so i have a very detailed symbology for polygon features in a 2d geological map. i have created a 3D multipatch from a TIN and these polygons, so i can show our map in 3d. this feature has the same attribute field that is used to control the symbology in the 2d polygon feature class. i cannot however apply this symbology using a .lyrx or stylx to the multipatch despite the attribute field being the same. why is this? how can i convert a symbology (as either lyrx or stylx to one suitable for a 3D mesh without spending half a day rebuilding this from scratch? most of the polygon fills are solid colours, so all i want to do is have these features coloured using the codes assigned to the attribute!! why can arcgis pro not handle this? is there a tool i cannot find that does this? thanks nigel
