Hi Community, I have a colleague who has a very large ArcGIS Pro aprx (v2.9.10) with four map windows and two layout windows. The map windows have 50+ layers in them. The data is all sorts of types; grids, images, feature layers, vector tiles, basemaps... The user needs access to all the data to regularly check hazard exposure for properties and locations. However, perhaps unsurprisingly, the aprx is painfully slow to load and use. I'm looking for any tips or pointers to content about how to optimize the performance of large aprx files. I'm aware of using vector tiles and display scales but I'm sure there must be lots of ideas out there for things that you have done that have improved the performance of your aprx significantly when you have a lot of data in them? Any help appreciated. Cheers Derek from NZ

Thanks @ZacharySutherby, I'm assuming all the question types will be tested for honoring the Set rule function before the hotfix release? Unfortunately, issues with questions not honoring the set rule function is not a new thing with new S123 releases (Choice Filter Rule Not Being Honored on Attachment... - Esri Community, What's New in ArcGIS Survey123 (December 2021) (esri.com)). These issues halt devel and can break surveys in production, causing much frustration and risk for ESRI customers. I struggle to understand how such basic functionality is not picked up in testing before the launch of new releases? I may just be a lone voice way down in the South Pacific but is it too much to ask ESRI to put more rigor in to testing before launching new releases? Thanks Derek

Hello from New Zealand, Is anybody else having issues with S123 3.17 web designed forms where Image and Audio question types (not sure about other Media and File question types) are not honoring rules from other questions that have been set for them? Here is my example... If a user answers a Select One type question in my survey then the following rules have been set for subsequent questions: Q7. 'Take a Photo' and Q9. 'Tell us more (if you want)' are supposed to show if 'Yes' is selected, and while the other question types honor the rule, these two don't and remain hidden.... The issues occur both in the design preview and with the published survey on any device on any browser. This survey will not be used on the field app and it is intended to be public. Is this another Set Rule bug or am I doing something wrong? Thanks Derek

Thanks @james-noble. I thought perhaps this might be something that could be implemented using Arcade. Will keep a watch.

Hi, I'm trying to build a workflow in Web AppBuilder or Experience Builder where a user places a new point for an incident that closes a road, let's say a landslide. Once they place the point the attribute 'NAME' for that point inherits the name of the road from an underlying road (line) layer, selecting the nearest segment of road to that point. I know this workflow can be done with the smart editor and smart forms. However, the user then also manually populates other attributes for the point like 'IMPACT', 'REASON', 'SOURCE', 'UPDATE DUE' etc. When the user completes the new point I am looking for a workflow that will then automatically select the closest underlying road (line) segment (the one the name was inherited from) and, given that the line layer schema is identical to the point layer, also inherit the values assigned to that new point. This way I have a point showing the actual location of the incident impacting the road but also a line showing the most likely impacted segment, with matching attributes. All captured in one workflow rather than having to capture that data as part of two workflows. An additional challenge would be to ensure the two layers remain synchronised. If the 'IMPACT' value of the point changes, for example, then the 'IMPACT' value of the applicable road segment also automatically changes. Any out-of-the-box ArcGIS Online suggestions or ideas welcome. Thanks Derek

Hi @WillvanHeerden and @IsmaelChivite , I am having a similar issue that set rules will not work if there is a new address geolocator (Sep 2021 release) type question either before or after the rules. The Dec 2021 release claims this bug has been fixed (What’s new in ArcGIS Survey123 (December 2021) (esri.com)) if it is before the set rules but I have cleared my browsing history and rebuilt the survey's to find the issue still persists regardless of where the address question lies in the form. I am currently liaising with NZ tech support about the issue.

@IsmaelChivite are you sure this bug has been fixed? DE-000004920 BUG-000143301 Creating the Set rule -function does not work properly in Survey123 when the Address -component is used in the survey before the Set rule -component. It is still a problem for me. Are there some updates we are supposed to manually do for these updates to take effect?

Thanks @OwenGeo noted. Are you able to change the status of this idea or is it still "Needs clarification"? I'd like to give it a kudo and share it around the Emergency Management community in New Zealand so they can do the same. Here in NZ the Map Series Story Map has been very popular in the emergency management community. Many local Councils use it to produce Hazards portals where users can explore different hazards for the same location (hence the need for Map Location Synchronisation). However, it is also a key tool in emergency operation centres where multiple key dashboards, apps and other websites (e.g. weather sites) could be bundled into one story map that would then cycle through the tabs on the big screen to serve as the primary media platform for a common operating picture of the emergency response. So I guess that ability to apply settings and automatically cycle through tabs at predefined time intervals is another key feature from the Classic Map Series Story Map we'd love to see carried over to ArcGIS StoryMaps.

@OwenGeo Yes how it worked in the classic version was great, except that map location sync would only work with webmaps. If I wanted to include an app in one of the story map tabs then that would not maintain location synchronisation like the other tabs that were built using webmaps. A story map that maintained location synchronisation as an option but also had the functional power of web apps would be a very useful tool. See an old idea I logged in the past about this. Now might be the opportunity to develop this given your suggestion above for using collections to bundle apps together in a tabbed application?

@OwenGeo interesting to follow this thread. I'm in a similar situation with this very map-centric classic story maps map series Waikato Regional Hazards Portal (arcgis.com) that I need to update to the new ArcGIS StoryMaps so it looks and works as close as possible to the original. Your tips above may prove helpful but one key feature I need from classic story maps and am not sure is available in ArcGIS StoryMaps is the "Synchronize map locations" function. Is such a function available in an ArcGIS StoryMap with a tabbed series navigation design? Any guidance or tips appreciated. Cheers Derek

Problem: There appears to be no function that will prevent one user from starting to edit a record in a feature layer if it is already being edited by another user. This risks wasting users time or overwriting or losing data. Use case: e.g. 1. An operator calls a welfare registrant to update some information in a Survey123 web form. After the call they continue to work on the form. Whilst they are still working on the form another operator from another call centre calls the same welfare registrant and repeats the process as they are unaware that anyone is already working on the record. e.g. 2. Several volunteers from all over a country (or even the world) are remotely supporting an emergency operation by helping to update the status of roads using the same hosted feature layer and an editor widget in web appbuilder. The volunteers are privy to the same intelligence telling them which roads are impacted. One volunteer opens a road link and starts editing the impact status along with some other attributes and changes. At the same time another volunteer somewhere else coincidentally does the same. It appears the first volunteer to hit save will have their edits saved while the second volunteer will have wasted their time filling out the form. Messaging around parallel editing is obscure when this happens leaving the users confused. Work-arounds: Versioning using Enterprise Portal appears to be an option but the reconciliation process is too complicated and lengthy for emergency management professionals to use in the middle of a time-critical emergency. Versioning does not appear to be available in ArcGIS Online? Solution: An optional function (can be activated or not) in all ArcGIS Products (desktop, enterprise and online) and all products within (e.g. Survey123, Collector, Field Maps, Web AppBuilder, Map Viewer, Experience Builder) that will immediately generate a warning message for a user if they open a record for editing but it is already being edited by another user. The message would say something like: "This record is currently being edited by arcgisonline_username. Do you wish to continue?" followed by a "Yes" and "No" button. Note this is not about preventing multiple users from editing the same feature layer at the same time. Just the same record.

Does anyone know if there is a tool that can generate a report of what webmaps and apps use a selected layer/service? Something that works both for enterprise portal and ArcGIS Online? I have tried qonda, ArcGIS Online Assistant, and Admin Tools for ArcGIS Online to no avail. Surely there must be something out there?

In Operations Dashboard (Enterprise Portal 10.7.1) the Category Selector item is great for easily filtering all the content across all the items in the dashboard by whatever category value a user selects. However, when using categories from Grouped Values there does not appear to be a way to set a default value for the dropdown. Use case is I have a dashboard set up as a template but now want to use that to make a copy for each of a number of districts such that the data shown for each district defaults to their district when they open the dashboard, but then they can still use the category selector to explore other district's data if they need. We tried using the None Option and inserting the Label of a council for the default value but this does not work. It would be great if this functionality could be enabled. Simply a way of selecting one of the values in your category selector dropdown as the default value. Please vote up.

I am still finding this Reset button issue persists in AGOL as at Dec 2020 also. Wondering if it relates this this bug that in theory was fixed back in August?
