We have a lot of regional users that all work on the same surveys across different regions, but want members of the same region to be able to only edit other surveys in their region. The workarounds documented for filtering an inbox based on a list of users involve publishing the survey multiple times, or somehow inserting all usernames into a hidden field in the survey. I'm hoping in the next generation of Survey123 you can build in the capability to filter an inbox due to a users group membership (or category within a group). Any ideas of this is something that might be supported natively, given how many posts there are about this kind of feature?

This is more for resources that users don't have access to. User X has access to a dashboard and sends it to a colleague who doesn't have access (maybe its a good example of dashboard design, maybe it's relevant, etc.). Is there a self-service way that second user can easily request access to the dashboard? Even most of our users are not familiar with the concept of "ownership" within the system. I work for a large federal agency (50k emp) unfortunately, so communication gets hard - we also have a lot of viewers.

I can see that working in some cases, but having an admin be the central point for permission requests for a large organization is not really scalable in our case. And unfortunately here links get passed too much - especially far down the line, the person who received it might not even know how they got access if their name was added to the group pre-emptively. Even just a "here is the owner of the resource" or something like that. I'm mostly just comparing it to other popular BI tools as well.

If someone is sent a link to an internal AGO resource (dashboard, layer, app, etc.) and the user doesn't have permission they just get a page that says "you do not have permission to access the resource." Most BI tools (Tableau, PowerBi, etc.) also give the option to the user to request permission to the asset. As it stands, the user doesn't even know who owns the ArcGIS resource to even ask how to get permission - they have to ask the person who sent them the link, so might not even know the resource owner. Is there any reason a capability has not been built in - I can't imagine we're the first one to bring this up, though I couldn't find a similar idea anyway.

@RyanUthoff Thank you - this is the farthest I've gotten in trying to investigate this issue - I did not know about archive views. It's strange that the documentation only exists for the old products - I found nothing on archive views in the newer, Pro based documentation. I'll try to do some internal testing and see what I find. @JakeSkinner Thanks for your response - I would prefer not to have to maintain and potentially troubleshoot Python scripts for achieving the synchronizing. Particularly with large datasets, the truncate and append via API to AGOL can have issues. From a scalability perspective, ArcGIS Enterprise distributed collaboration to replicate datasets to AGOL is a pretty great feature, since the DBAs can do the updating themselves. It's just figuring out how to do it in an "esri approved" way outside of Esri tools, if its possible. We can of course always fall back to Python workflows, but the distributed collaboration was sold to us as a no-code solution for synchronizing.

This is a repost from an ongoing issues I've had - would like to bubble it up to see if anyone has found a solution. I am creating a table in my enterprise geodatabase, enabling global ids and archiving, and sharing as a referenced feature service with sync enabled to my Portal. I do this all with ArcGIS Pro / Python. When I share this feature layer with my distributed collaboration configured to send as copies, a hosted feature layer is created in my ArcGIS Online instance reflecting the data in my enterprise geodatabase. That works as expected. However, this table is periodically updated outside ArcGIS - that is, with native SQL. This process runs a truncate on the table, and repopulates with new data. This process also generates new global ids to populate on load as well. This is where the distributed collaboration breaks. My logs say "failure in processing exports for Replica", "Failed to export data changes message for replica with Guid," "Failed to export data changes to replica". "Invalid column value [globalid]." So I'm assuming something is happening with the globalid. They look to be the standard format {8}-{4}-{4}-{4}-{12}, where the number is the number of characters (e.g. 52B2EBC3-DBA2-46C1-93F1-0D6DD52A2F13) So two questions: 1. It is unsupported to maintain a distributed collaboration when the source table is maintained outside of ArcGIS 2. If not, is there a different process our DBA should follow so that the synchronization successfully processes? For example - is there a different enterprise database system table (e.g. archive table) that is updated as well that helps facilitate the collaboration. So when updating an database with ArcGIS tools, the tool internals automatically update the system table, but when updating with SQL, that system table doesn't get updated. Searching for any help here - I feel like this should be supported somehow - the replication system is great, but to assume all the data ETL is done with ArcGIS is a little short-sighted.

I want to only enable select users in my organization to share content publicly, and only their own content. If I create a role with Share Content Publicly enabled, I also have to enable the security setting for the entire organization to allow users to share content publicly for it to work. However, turning on this security settings allows every default role in my organization (User, Publisher, Facilitator) to share their content publicly as well. So in order to enforce my rule (preventing anyone from being able to share publicly), I have to create a duplicate role for every default role (e.g. User_NoPublic, Publisher_NoPublic, etc) and reassign every user in my organization. The only way around this is to give my chosen users the administrative ability to share anyone's content publicly, which I don't want to do. I just want them to be able to share their own content publicly. I would like the privilege to share content publicly for items a user owns to work independently of the wider security setting to allow all users to share content publicly.

Does anyone know why Power Automate doesn't pull Creator, Editor, EditDate, CreationDate? We allowed the webhook to return all data from the survey, so don't know why the PowerAutomate When Survey Response Is Submitted trigger isn't returning those fields.

I used ArcGIS Online to create an API Key developer credential, and accepted all the default opens, except that I scoped it to a survey123 feature service when providing item access. However, when I use the API key as a token to query the feature service, it returns zero features. This is apparently as designed according to: https://support.esri.com/en-us/bug/api-key-scoped-to-a-hosted-feature-service-with-allowan-bug-000169836 My question is - is there anyway to allow my developers to query a feature service without resorting to system accounts (everyone logs in through SAML) and using API keys? This current prevents any kind of automation process from outside the system (e.g. a script that periodically queries the feature service).

I still don't know why we can't publish a custom geocode service for batch geocoding in ArcGIS Online but can in Enterprise. We have country wide facilities / assets / trackables numbering in the 500k and users would like users to be able to geocode lists of these facilities using the bulk geocoding operations, as well as zoom to an asset of interest using the search tool.

@GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde What are some free tools used to create those models? I'm not familiar - and curious if they are easy to pick up for our user base. ArcGIS Earth is so simple, I'm afraid the training on the 3d model generation would be more complicated than ArcGIS Earth itself.

@Willy If it makes any difference this is how airspace is modelled - I work in aviation, and we have a lot of users that would like to use this tool to model airspace, but need this as a prerequisite.

Currently, any volume (extruded polygon with elevation) is anchored/extruded to the ground. There are use cases where volumes need to be in space - that is have an upper elevation and lower elevation (or a lower elevation and height). Please add the ability to create volumes that are not anchored to the ground.
