This strange behaviour has stopped after a few weeks, as unexpectedly as it started, and our Survey123 went back to normal. No explanation why - it just happened. 👻

Thanks for your fast reply, @AlixVezina ! Odd that I cannot add even a simple single point - maybe a case of web App Builder versions? (which is yours? I have 2.21) My use case for web editing multiple point features is in forestry: Point features: Reforestation, whatever the cause, can be undertaken by very small areas of tree planting - I am no forester, but I understand cases can be e.g. enrichment of poor areas, repair of very localized damage, or introducing clumps a different tree species to diversify an otherwise uniform forest context (hence the point geometry). Multi-geometry: These localized work are an actuel tree planting pattern, which is repeated in space (e.g. half of the forest is targeted by 50 clumps of 2 to 4 acres). My users tell me this is the best option for them, at it allows them to have a both: an accurate geographical location of these areas a lightweight attribution work, as they edit a single record. The ideal workflow was to be able to create and merge points into multipoints (@Edit widget), then attribute the points with the strict channeling/funneling capabilities offered by the SmartEditor. Web edition: We are undertaking a massive, countrywide data collection in a short timeline. The web edition allows to spread the effort to all teams locally. Restricting data entry to GISPs would lift the multipoint edition, but would be an extreme bottleneck. At this stage, the workflow is fully operational for polygon geometry only; and is not feasible for points. The work order needs amending as far as point are concerned: either downgrading to no multipart feature (unlikely!), or to exclusively import finalized point features, and keep the web app for attribution only. Work order managers & users find it hard to understand that what can be done with polygons cannot be done with points.

Dear Community and @AlixVezina , It seems the Web AppBuilder Smart Editor cannot create or modify geometries of multipoint features ... Is anyone else observing this? I could find no documentation about this limitation, but I replicate this behaviour with the most simplistic feature service: 1 multipoint layer with 1 attribute, no rules, no domains, nothing fancy. Using ArcGIS Pro 2.7, I created a feature class in a SDE geodatabase (PostgreSQL) with geometry type multipoint. I published it as an editable feature service (add, delete, modify) in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1. Using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1, I created a web map with this one, single, feature layer. I shared the webmap in a Web App Builder App ; I added the SmartEditor & declared the one layer as fully editable Point edition is partially OK: Modifying an existing feature's attribution is OK. Modifying an existing feature's geometry is not possible (the geometry cannot be selected). Creating a new point in this multipoint feature service layer throws an error message: Syntax error in JSON geometry representation ArcGIS Assistant shows the Web AppBuilder version is 2.21. All help here will be greatly appreciated!! Is anyone else having the same issue ? Coudl anyone fix it, for instance using a ArcGIS assistant hack ? Many thanks in advance! NB - Potential side effect of BUG-000104054 ? (reported at ArcGIS Online, though)

Good afternoon @AlixVezina and @AdamGebhart , "If I start in section 5 and end in section 6, which value should be pulled in, 5 or 6?" My use cases are similar, but the values expected by the user would be a concatenated "5,6", to show that 2 sections were intersected. Would you know whether this is in the product roadmap? Many thanks! With kind regards, Hélène.

Hi @rachelm and @ChristopherCounsell , I was looking for the same functionnnality, and cannot start the desktop app (on PC) from Experience Builder either. Were you able to find a way around? As you described it, my tests following the dedicated help page failed - none of the proposed URL are able to launch the installed field app, and at best, they land on the download link. I tried the steps described by below: The URL provided by the 'collaborate' tab in Survey123 follows the scheme https://survey123.arcgis.app?itemID=XXX it does not open Survey123, it lands on icons to download the app (which is already installed). the behaviour is the same whether opening the link fro MS Word or form Experience Builder. I aslo tried the URL scheme arcgis-survey123://?itemID=XXX. It gives me an error message stating no app is associated to this file (?) to perform an action. I looked into my MS parameters (default apps), but I cannot associate Survey123 to anything, nor can I point a default app for arcgis-survey123:// . (Not sure whether MS is limiting here, or whether my organization’s IT system management is ; but I could not find any documentation on how to solve this). Last test : I was hoping using the command line syntax to launch Survey123 would work, for instance: "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\ArcGISSurvey123\Survey123.exe" --show maximized but this test fails on two separate issues: 1- Experience builder cannot use command line commands (apparently, if it's not a URL, it won't work) 2- The command line does not seem to take the survey ID as a parameter. I was hoping appending something like: --itemID=XXX or like --XXX Our use context is Survey123 FieldApp v3.15.156 on PC (Win10 21H2). For compelteness-sake, the surveys are built using Survey123Connect, on referenced feature services in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1. I guess this does not make a difference on launching the FieldApp from a URL per se ; but Experience Builder is somewhat late behind in this version. With kind regards, Hélène.

Hi Survey123 friends, users, and developpers, On of my users points out a defect in date collection, in the Survey123 FielApp (whether mobile or PC): entering a date in February replaces the date for the same date in march.😯 Correcting the value allows keeping the correct date in February, as long as the field is not emptied using the cross at thr right-hand-side of the field: correcting the filled field retains the value, but a new value collected in an empty field is systematically erroneous I attach a video of the observed defect. I observe this behaviour only on Survey123 apps (Field App and Survey123Connect): it does not occur when filling or designing web forms. (However, a form designed with the web designer and that is filled on the field app will have this behaviour). Tested apps include: - Field App on PC (64bits, Windows 10 21H2) , v. 3.15.156 & 3.13.246 ; -Mobile App (android 11), v3.13.246 and v3.15.156 -Survey123Connect: v3.25.175 Attached a simplistic Survey123 Connect form XLS with the one date field. Many thanks, ESRI-Team for your forthcoming action on this issue! With kind regards, Hélène.

Hi @IngridAldridge1 and @Anonymous User , I believe there is a way around: not using the 'relevant' field. Anything that should be masked at collect-time could be dealth with the 'esri::body::visible' column (instead of 'relevant') At update-time, the values will be available to the user. From the user endpoint, the form behavious is identical (what should be masked is masked)

Hi @Anonymous User and @LarryWiebe, I was wondering if there are any news on BUG-000127130 (or if you heard of smart ways to go around it). I am also trying to overwrite the inbox geopoint location (i.e. the actual geometry) without success. My use case is strictly about creating new surveys from the inbox (create a new survey by reusing an existing one). - At geopoint creation time, the calculated coordinates work well for point creation (=> they are well formatted). - At geopoint update time in the 'new' survey, the geopoint question does not replace the coordinates: the original geometry remains. If my form used a map, instead of calculated coordinates, users would be able to edit the existing point (drag around, or delete and create new) ... so Survey123 seems to be able to overwrite the geometry in some cases. - However, if I do expose the map in the form, the update isn't effective either : users must push the update button, then the geopoint responds to changes in calculated coordinates. - Having parametered with 'calculateMode=always' is not helping, the first update ni calculated coordinate is not resulting in a geopoint update. - Using of second (null) geopoint field, based on the property 'status' is not helpini either: status is null when you create a new survey from the inbox. This is observed using S123Connect 3.13.251 and Survey123 Fiel App (on PC) 3.14.255. A simplified example form is attached. Many thanks for any help! With kind regards, Hélène. P.S: My use case is a form without any exposed map. The point location is derived from selected values in a select one field. The form is long and tiedous (per work order ^^), and people will default to creating new surveys from existing surveys from the inbox. The issue appears here: because the geopoint geometry is not overriden by the newly selected location, my output map has a few piles of many points each 😞

Hi @JamesKelly4 and @Anonymous User ! This post is old, but my users had the same question and found some additional answers by testing... So I thought I'd share with the class ^^: On a PC you can : TAB through the form to go to the next question ; SHIFT+TAB to go back to a previous question while landing on a drop-down menu, type a few very discriminatingcharacters to reduce the list as much as possible then click on TAB to navigate through the remaining values (each value will be slightly highlighted as it bescome active/selectionnable) click SHIFT+TAB to go back to a previous value then click on SPACE to select the active value then clik TAB to go to the next field. I noticed that: - Date fields cannot be activated by the keyboard (they are simply skipped) ; - Minimized groups cannot be entered/maximized using the keyboard (they are simply skipped); - on drop-down lists: if the list returned by the search is longer than what the screen shows, scrolling the list with TAB does not display the active values (selection is effective, but you do not see what you selected). Using up/down arrows does not help. So the key with long drop-down is real, really to start the search with an extremely discriminant set of characters. with kind regards, Hélène.

Good afternoon @IsmaelChivite and @JamesTedrick , Is there a technical limitation on deleting feature from the inbox? De facto, field workers have restricted edit privileges when using Survey123, compared to other Field Apps (or compared to web apps), where they can delete feature if the combo 'feature service parameters' & 'user profile' give them the rights to do so. ref. S123 question here, My users do not understand why there is an app to create data and another one to delete data - they feel they have no right to make mistakes and (easily) clean after themselves. I struggle to explain them why this is so... thanks for your lights!! ... and ideally, thanks for including this feature in forthcoming versions 🙂 With kind regards, Hélène.

Good morning Survey123 friends, I thought users could delete a survey using the field app... but there seems to be no button to do so. I found the button to delete a draft survey: But there is no such button when interacting with surveys in the updated inbox, even though my service allows deleting feature, and users do have delete rights. My users do not understand why there is an app to create data and another one to delete data - they feel they have no right to make mistakes and (easily) clean after themselves. I am using S123Connect v3.13.251 My users have S123 Field App v3.13.246. The survey & service are built on ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 The webservice is referenced & allows feature deletion Any help appreciated if there is a way around or some parameter I did not see to ease the user workflow. Many thanks!! 🙂 Hélène.

Good afternoon, I had the same issue while reading the choice list from a CSV file. My 'name' values were all VAT codes in numeric form, and were interpreted as numeric values >> considered invalid >> displayed red even though I picked them in the drop-down menu. 😕 I temporarily solved by adding a dummy line in the CSV file with a text value in the 'name' column, to force the interpretation of those codes as text and not numbers. (qualilfying value with double-quotes did not help interpret the values as text). I thought I would share this here, as the symptom is identical, and the solution different 😉 With kind regards, Hélène.
