Hi Dean, The trick is that you query the data store status through the Hosting Server's admin pages. see https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/10.7/administer/windows/data-store-function-reference.htm This is if the Admin pages haven't been blocked to external access (i.e the Lambda virtual address) Use the Validate REST endpoint

Hi David, If you run a System Log Parser Report with "Add Service Details to Report" checked, you will get a "Site Details" tab in the output spreadsheet that tells you much information about all the services in the site, including instances min/max and type (shared or dedicated). The report also provides statistics on usage of each service right down to time & response time of each individual service request if you want to go that far. It's up to you to define what is low/high usage in comparison with the other services in the site.

just a stab - does the password you have provided for the "ArcGIS Service Account" meet Azure requirements (length, characters and numbers, special characters etc)? Just possibly this is causing the ArcGIS Server account to not be created and that means the Azure configstore file share is not accessible for the AGS service

Hi Katherine, maybe too simple a question, but was your application built using http addresses for the service(s) it accesses? At 10.8.x https only is the default configuration for ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal and Server) this can be updated in admin configuration, see https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/configure-https.htm and https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/administer/linux/secure-arcgis-server-communication.htm but, if the services are secured, it is recommended that you really should amend your web maps and applications to use encrypted communications to protect login credentials.

Further commentary on this great article - this time regarding stickiness. A lesson we have learnt at some sites in Australia that have HA configuration is that if stickiness is not enabled, there can be problems caused during automated publishing, overwrite and/or removal of services. If the process takes a non-zero time, there can be stability problems while the "secondary" portal and/or Data Store nodes are synchronised. The scripting sends follow-up requests to the Portal/Server to check the action has completed and if this follow-up request goes to different node than the original request, the result may not be what is expected. The avoid this, we are now recommending stickiness SHOULD be enabled. From what @NoahMayer says in the article, Esri testing has not demonstrated that stickiness being enabled causes any issues, so we are confident in our logic.

This is certainly a very frequently requested item and especially where new items are being created by repeated workflows - each for a specific Project. The ability to nest new folders (using new names) repeatedly would be extremely valuable. Categorisation is good and allows for useful search & filter (across folder structures) but not what we need. @KellyGerrow anything new to add from roadmap perspective?

Hi Dean, is it the Portal pages generally - or when previewing specific services or the web maps/scenes used by the services? Have you examined the ArcGIS Server logs using System Log Parser to identify which services may be the chief culprits?

there may be a little more nuance here. If the new Web Adaptors in the DMZ are accessible from within the organisation (behind the firewall) then you should be OK to do this so long as the DNS alias for the Web Adaptor server matches the public facing URL used for the Portal and Servers' WebContextURL. We have seen sites where the organisation's firewall rules will not allow access to Web Adaptors in the DMZ. In these cases, we have needed to set up separate Web Adaptors inside the firewall for internal use. As the Portal and Servers must use the same WebContextURL, this means the internal WA server (or Load Balancer if used) must have the same DNS alias as the WA server in the DMZ - the solution is to use "Split-DNS" - a configuration that allows a different domain name resolution depending on the IP address range of the calling client. i.e users inside the firewall get the IP address of the internal WA server public users see the IP address of the DMZ WA server

It will work to keep all your applications in separate subnets (and Application Security Groups) within the same Vnet. The deployment tools do allow for this pattern. You are right that data transferred between different Vnets using Vnet peering will incur transfer charges (but less than the egress to internet costs that would apply if there was no peering). be aware that even within one Vnet, if your resources are in different Availability Zones, from Feb 1st 2021, MS will start charging for these transfers as well.

I think it may be as simple as you need to use backward slashes when specifying folders/paths. and I believe you should be able to set a relative path for your hyperlink. In ArcMap, it is the path relative to the .mxd document. I presume the path to the Pro .aprx file is the equivalent. But the help https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/navigation/use-hyperlinks-in-pop-ups.htm does say Provide a full path to the item, for example, \\machineName\sharedDirectory\imageName.jpg or file:///C:\Users\temp\OperationsSchedule.docx. so, you may need to use an Arcade expression in your pop-up text definition that resolves the full path to your \Data folder and adds the file name from the feature's field. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find a way to have Arcade retrieve the current workspace.

Guillaume, thank you for that post - it's a real "gotcha" I wonder if it is possible to have AAD filter the list of Groups returned to keep the number below 150? there seems to be some hope this might be possible according to this post in a Microsoft forum. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/azure-active-directory-identity/azure-ad-saml-is-it-possible-to-apply-filtering-on-group-claims/m-p/1350403
