Kim Sapunar - Glad you got it working! Sorry I should have been clearer. I could see that when the data was downloaded the field type was Object ID, but at the REST endpoint, the field type was EsriFieldTypeInteger instead of esriFieldTypeOID This must be related to publishing by sharing a GDB vs from Desktop. Both publication methods should result in the same field types, so I'll investigate this further with the AGOL team.

ksapunar It appears that the OBJECTID field for the table is an integer field rather than an OID field and the app isn't handling it very well. I'm not sure how OBJECTID was created as an integer field, but perhaps re-create the table and publish it again? We'll also add a check to the app to help it handle non-OID id fields.

ksapunar Can you share the URL to your app? The service, map, and app will all need to be shared with Everyone.

Hi Michael Kelly, There are several suggestions above, so I'll try to address each of them separately: 1) Present OBJECTID in the thank-you message: We aren't doing this deliberately because the OBJECTID is fairly useless for identifying a report has been submitted to an app with more than one layer, which most Reporter implementations have, or when that report has been integrated with other systems. If someone calls in to check on issue '2' for example, is that issue 2 from the potholes queue or the animal control queue, adn how does that relate to my workorder system? I would suggest assigning workorder IDs to each of the reports as they come in (working on a script to automate this right now) and sending a follow-up email to the reporter with that information. This would also provide a way to communicate more information such as anticipated next steps and contact info for further inquiries - info that won't fit in that little 'thank-you' box. 2) Protecting personal information: Personal information collected through reporter can be hidden by using the popup configuration to specify which attributes are present in the form, and which attributes are present when reviewing a submitted report. The editable fields do not need to be visible, and the visible fields do not need to be editable. 3) An option to open Reporter to a specific report: This is definitely on our radar, but it is a challenge to come up with logic that will match what most people will expect. For example, when your location is shared with the app, the app only loads nearby reports. What if the linked report is not nearby? We have a similar item in our backlog for Manager, too.

That is very weird, but I'm glad it's working! I appreciate the details on what it took to get there. I will look into this more and try to get a fix into an upcoming release. -Allison

ryan.hughes I think there are a few things going on here: 1) I think the schools not showing up in the main map has something to do with how that particular layer was created. When I look at the item details for that layer it says that the source is a feature collection instead of a feature layer. Now, that SHOULD work in both maps, but try publishing the layer as a feature layer and see if that makes a difference. I've made a note to investigate this further on my side as well. 2) I played around with submitting reports to your layer under various circumstances - your app, your map, your layer = fail message but feature showed up on refresh - my app, your map, your layer = fail message but feature showed up on refresh - my app, a copy (Save As) of your map, your layer = success! From this, it seems that something strange is going on with your map. Try doing a 'Save As' on the map and sharing that copy with the group. Can you submit a feature to the new map? 3) I'm not sure what this item is, but I cannot access it as an anonymous user. This may or may not be related to other issues you are seeing but I thought I'd point it out: https://clarkdietz.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/af6448495d714d87a74151a0ac1a4a6d/data?f=json

Ryan Hughes : Can you share your app, map, and layer with Everyone and either post or message me the URL to your app? I'd like to take a look at the browser traffic when you submit a report. I'm puzzled by the fact that your report shows up even though you get the error message. Haven't seen that before.

Dan Senner Thanks for the follow up question. cc Brian O'keefe I looked into this workflow a little bit further. Although the above workflow will work from a technical standpoint, it isn’t a best practice to share a map with an audience where some users can’t access the layers. I’d suggest engaging with your Esri Rep to discuss the best approach for permissions for this app. -Allison

mikerfuller: The form in Reporter is really just displaying the editing popup from the map. Calculations like this aren't supported in the map popup at the time, so we don't support them in Reporter, either. If you don't necessarily need the value of field3 calculated and presented live to the user in the form, you could schedule a Python script to regularly go through the service to update the value of field3. In an upcoming release we'll be including a script for a similar workflow, but instead of doing calculation among fields it will be calculating an identifier for the report. -Allison

Emily Lee You're right - the applications are the same; the only difference is the use case. Both are configurations of the crowdsourcing apps, but one configuration is targeting a 311-style workflow for citizens to report potholes, broken streetlights, etc, and the other is for engaging citizen scientists to submit their observations. Other solutions that use these same apps include: Mosquito Service Request | ArcGIS for Local Government Vision Zero | ArcGIS for Local Government The underlying apps - Crowdsource Reporter and Manager - are still very much in active development. The next release of ArcGIS Online will include some minor fixes and UI enhancements for Manager and we'll be adding new capabilities to Reporter to help control where reports are submitted, to allow reporters to edit their submissions, and to allow for more configuration of the UI. If there's something you'd like to see, let me know -Allison

Josh White This add-in shares files with other ArcGIS for Local Government add-ins including Attribute Assistant, the addressing tools, and possibly a few others. There may be a conflict if an old version of one of those is on the machine. The correct procedure for removing add-ins is here: Remove add-ins - Water Utility Network Editing and Analysis | ArcGIS for Water

Joe Borgione: Yes, please consider it a guideline! While we strongly recommend against deleting fields (in case you need them for a Solution later on), we fully expect that you will need to add fields, modify domains, etc. To make it easier to move between versions, you can create a model that contains components for each update you make. That way you can re-run the model at any time to re-apply your schema changes. We also have tools such as the Schema Migration Wizard that will help you take advantage of newer versions of the info model as painlessly as possible.
