Hi Stuart, I'm not sure why your widget is working with 9.3 but not 10. I am assuming you are working with a custom LocateWidget - did you create it or someoneone else? Either way, my guess would be that there is something in that custom code that doesn't work with your specific 10.0 service. Since single line geocoder didn't exist in ArcGIS Server 9.3, did you have a special Locate service that accepted one field input, or does your Locatewidget have use some kind of built-in logic to convert the user inputted single line into the multiple fields that most 9.3 locate services expected?

No settings that I know off. But ... do you have a custom LocateWidget for SFV, because the original sample doesn't seem to support single line geocoding: http://asademo.esri.com/flexviewer1_3/ Also, the 1.3 Flex API doesn't know about single line geocoding.

Just to clarify - the REST API does support single-line geocoding as of ArcGIS Server version 10.0. This is supported by the Flex API as of version 2.0 as well as in the LocateWidget in Flex Viewer 2.1. "Locators published using ArcGIS 10 support a new single line address field." http://help.arcgis.com/EN/arcgisserver/10.0/apis/rest/index.html?whatsnew.html Of course, if you are working with SFV 1.x and Flex API 1.x, then this doesn't matter...

I'm guessing it's "only" the busy cursor not being removed (when it should) and not a loading problem. Are you using the same widget twice? If so, where are the multiple widgets (in the same widget container, different containers, some not in a widget container at all)? Could you share the complete config.xml file?

The crossdomain file is not needed when a user access the app as http://example.com/flexviewer and the services listed in the config.xml are on http://example.com/. When a user access the app at http://www.example.com/flexviewer (and the config is as above), then Flash Player will treat http://www.example.com/ as different from http://example.com/ and thus look for the crossdomain file. The crossdomain file needs to be in the root. The 401.3 problem is what you need to fix. What web server are you using? If you are using IIS 5.0, 5.1 or 6.0, then http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271071/ might help 🙂

One of the computers lists all the scales available using the default data sources provided, the other does not display the scales: 2, 256 and 1,128 (see attached). The scales are based on the levels of details in the basemap. For example, Bing goes to 1:1,128 and so does Imagery from ArcGIS Online, and World_Topo_Map but not World_Street_Map which only goes to 1:4,513. My guess is that you have different configuration files (different initial basemaps) in the two apps...

If you were one of the about thousand people who followed along on our first session of the seminar - thank you! Sorry, we didn't have time to answer more of the questions. We will use some of the questions to expand the Flex Viewer documentation in general as well as the FAQ at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#faq.htm If you missed the first session, there are still two left for today...

It would be really nice to have a compatibility matrix listing what widgets support which services. That's a good idea:) Two widgets that require ArcGIS Server 10 or later: Time Slider Widget which requires a time-aware layer. Edit Widget which requires an editable layer in a FeatureService

The first non-beta, non-sample release of the Flex Viewer is now available - ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 2.1 ! The blog post - http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/arcgisserver/archive/2010/09/22/ArcGIS-Viewer-for-Flex-version-2.1-released_2100_.aspx Read the What's New (there's quite a lot) : http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#whats_new.htm The Flex team worked hard the last months to make this a solid, stable product, and we hope you will enjoy working on it. As always, please give us your feedback!
