Its been a while since I had this issue but I did get it to work. I believe what worked for me was what Frank Vignati said in this post. Remove any attribute based symbology in the webmap you want to use for your application.

Is there a good solution to this? I have desktop 10.6.1 and have several model builder scripts that export GIS to CAD. All of my CAD drawings exported from GIS now open up as "Student Version". No good for our engineering staff or contractors who need them.

For specific customization within an application, you might want to look into ArcGIS Online Assistant. This allows you to login and view items you own in your AGOL account. You can edit an items JSON, and to do a fair amount of customization within your applications, outside of the boxed default tools provided in AGOL.

Mikaila Bell, You don't really need to enable this function, it already is. Just add your survey layer to a web map and click on a point. Related photos appear under Attachments in the attribute table. You can also configure pop-ups for layers in a map to display photos for building applications. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/create-maps/configure-pop-ups.htm Web Map Operations Dashboard

I have a process I use frequently to generate tile packages for use online and in mobile applications such as survey123. Generally I am only using simple base map layers (points/lines/polys). Now I need one that incorporates both shape files and imagery. I've been using a series of ArcToolbox tile cache tools in ArcMap 10.6.1 along with the ArcGIS_Online_Bing_Maps_Google_Maps.xml. Area of interest is approximately 4 miles by 3 miles. I started the Manage Tile Cache tool Monday afternoon. Its now Wednesday and its still running. Generate Tile Cache Tiling Scheme Manage Tile Cache: Pics Below Export Tile Cache These tools worked fine until added imagery. I know this does not support image services, but does that include georeferenced tiff images as well? I've never seen it do this before and I don't really understand what it is doing. Why are there so many tile caches and why is it taking days to process? Usually this takes under 30 minutes. Can anyone direct me to documentation on what this means, a different process to use, or let me know if its just not possible to create these tpk files using tif images.

It makes sense there are a number of factors involved. Thanks for the quick response. Good info to be aware of moving forward.

I have tried clearing the cache, different browsers, and machines. Same result every way. This particular layer is huge, nearly 500 fields. I certainly don't need many of those and turning off fields can work. But, it this is a known limitation and the only way to edit layer symbology in a web map, it would be nice to see a mention of that in the documentation and to know what the magic cutoff number is. 20, 50, 200, etc. With layers this big, its a lot of time deciding what fields to keep and turn off and then going back and forth wondering if the drop down menu will work now.

I have a point layer added to a web map and I want to change the symbology and color code it by attributes. Under step 1 "Choose an attribute to show" the drop-down is blank/empty. No fields to choose from. I can not proceed to step 2 "Select a drawing style" with nothing selected in step 1. The only work around seems to be turning off most of my fields before going into the change drawing style menu. It seems AGOL can only handle a certain number of fields in a layer to generate the attribute list before it fails. Does anyone know what that limit is?

I don't believe there are any special characters in any of the field names, but with nearly 500 fields it is possible. That problem looks a little different, but good to know in case I encounter it. I'll throw that question out in another thread. Thanks for your help on this one.

Thank you, I have marked this question as answered, though I still do have a question as to what is the limit for number of fields in a layer that will cause the symbology/change style dropdown options to no longer work?

Egge-Jan Pollé, Thank you for the quick response and for the info. It appears my first problem (limiting fields) was also the cause of my second problem (symbology). I did notice when going into view definition / define fields, that if you click the very top box where it says "Field Name" you can turn all of your fields on/off. So glad I did not have to do that manually, my layer has nearly 500 fields. Having too many fields was the cause of symbology not working. Without a field selected, the symbology menu in step 2 will not open. It would be nice if there was a message/warning in AGOL indicating what the maximum number of allowed fields is, or something in the documentation about this limitation. Does anyone know the answer to that?

I created a view of a feature layer in AGOL. In the "Data" tab I click show/hide columns but there is NO option to turn on/off all fields in the data table. My layer has hundreds of fields. I need about 10 of them. If you uncheck them here, and then go to another tab, all of the fields reset and turn back on again. I'm guessing there is another place to do this, although this Data tab seems like the logical place to control the attribute fields for your table view. How do I turn these off and keep them off when using this layer (and hopefully not one at a time)? In the visualization tab, I want to change symbology of my point layer. I click on change style, and NO options are available in the drop down under step 1 "Choose an attribute to show". I also can't click on or open the "OPTIONS" in step 2 under "Select a drawing style". Why is the drop down empty? Why cant I open up options in step 2? How do I change simple map layer symbology?

Go to your AGOL portal/online account and open up the Services URL of your hosted feature layer. Within this page, look at the URL bar directly above, and the line directly below, where it says ArcGIS REST Services Directory. Copy the URL from https:// up through /FeatureServer and paste this into the Submission_url line in your excel survey settings worksheet through Connect. For form_id, use the name of your (FeatureServer)> "Name" Again, this is to write a new survey to your existing db. It wont necessarily solve the issue with arithmetic overflow error, but it can give you a live collection service to test with.

Stephane, If you don't change the field names, you can publish a new survey that writes to your existing surveys database, without deleting or republishing your existing survey. You can make a copy, make your changes, and publish that copy using a submission_url within the settings page.
