Andrew, A colleague of mine provide me this link to an existing bug that is resolved in 10.8. BUG-000124867: When attempting to download a managed map area in Co.. That pretty much answers my question on the issue, but I've yet to do much additional testing using the workaround. From the SQL Server side it did look like there were issues with the replicas being valid.

Philip, With the webhooks becoming a permanent part of the Portal and AGOL platform... it seems like they would be architected such that they run on the server when the table is modified, as opposed to the client app so they can be more widely leveraged by the enterprise apps. It looks as though the webhooks on Portal run on the server. So I guess the webhooks for Survey123 in AGOL are just different? Thanks, Richard

We have a Portal 10.7.1 and GIS Server 10.7.1 as the hosting server. We are using the most current Collector on iOS. I've created a web map and added a hosted layer created from a template in Portal. The layer is sync enabled and the web map is offline enabled. In Collector on iOS, the On-Demand workflow is able to download the Map Area, however the Pre-Planned Map Areas fail every time saying that the replica with guid cannot be found on the server. Has anyone seen this behavior and been able to determine the cause? We are thinking it is auth related, but since it works with one workflow and not the other I am hoping a more technical esri person could chime in. Is this a bug, or is our system's auth broken somehow? thanks!!

So I wrote a notebook using the most current ArcPro Jupyter notebook installation and needed to setup an environment outside ArcPro. I chose python 3.7 Anaconda when downloading so that was where it was looking for the arcgis module. Using the command prompt, I did install version 1.7 by specifying, "esri arcgis=1.7.0", into my conda env and my script does work as it did in Jupyter notebook. I was not sure how running a script exported from a notebook would behave, but it works as expected so far.

You are correct... I did the search, found the package, and installed it by specifying the version. What I was seeing what that doing conda install -c esri arcgis it was installing 1.6 and not giving an option to update. That was happening in the console and in Anaconda Navigator. That made me think it may not have been officially released. Thank you for clearing that up.

I am looking to install the python api 1.7 but conda is only finding version 1.6. Has the latest version not been officially released on conda or is not compatible with python version 3.7?

It is my understanding based on what I've seen, that only a Python Toolbox published as a GP Service will provide dynamically updating Choice Lists. I don't know why a script tool would not also work. Does Esri have any guidance on this. Does a Python Toolbox run the Custom Validation Code when it gets published as a GP Service?

Hi Philip, What you are describing is similar to what I was thinking may be the case. I have been told that there are customizations that get lost when users redownload the forms in the mobile app so that is mainly what is prompting this inquiry. Some people just are not redownloading the forms. I will need to look at what those issues are specifically. That said, I am a bit surprised that the downloaded form and the Survey 123 app would be aware of the webhook settings on the server. It seem like more of a server/client architecture choice, but with the RestAPI I guess my first thought was that the webhook would be tied to something on a webserver or database server, not the client app. It is a new app for me, so I am sure more of this will become clearer in the future. Thanks for your assistance. I will pass along your insight to the team.

When updating a web hook for a survey in Survery123, the downloaded surveys do not trigger the webhook until after they are redownloaded. This is causing some confusion and frustration since webhooks are described as residing on the server and running when a record is added or updated. Why does the downloaded app or survey care what code runs on the server? I am a bit surprised that it was designed that way so I am needing to better understand what is going on behind the scenes to be able to support deployed surveys and webhooks. Is it really a known requirement to have users redownload a survey after changes have been made to the webhooks? In the future, would it be good to decouple the webhook from the downloaded survey so it does not need to be redownloaded?

Hello, We were just creating a map package in ArcMap 10.5.1 that has a lot of layers. Some of the layers are from sde and there are a couple versions being used. When we package the map, the versions are ignored and all of the data is read from a single version, probably the first one it encounters in the list of layers. Is exporting data to a map package from multiple versions within a single enterprise geodatabase a limitation of ArcMap's Package Map function?

Today I did successfully Query the map's Operational Layers using the location passed from the MapView to the View through a binding. That is all I really needed to do since the Map and all its Operational Layers are available in the View Model. But as I figuring out how to work with the MapView programatically my brain short-circuited. The screen vs map points is a great point to make regarding the differences between the Map and the MapView and all the screen sizing that takes place on the client. I do really like this new design with the MapView and appreciate all that is going into it. I do use code behind to enable the location service on the MapView. Eventually that will have to get put somewhere else if I integrate with an external GPS receiver, or maybe not? That will be interesting.

So to follow up on this. foreach(FeatureQueryResult result in queryResults)
{
foreach(Feature feat in result)
{
var att = feat.GetAttributeValue("OBJECTID");
MessageBox.Show(att.ToString());
}
} Just iterating through the FeatureQueryResult gives me access to the Feature which has methods to access the attributes.

Does the QueryFeaturesAsync method on the FeatureTable actually return attribute values? I am just seeing it return all the information about the layer and the fields, but not the actual attribute values that I need. I've been unable to find it in the online docs either. I am simply needing to get the attributes from features in layers that intersect a point. I've done this a bunch in the other api's but am new to the sdk patterns. All my layers are offline in a MobileMapPackage and I am obtaining them from the Map since they are not all visible in the MapView. An Identify does not work since it only returns the visible features. What am I missing here?

Update from me on using a Controller for the MapView. I like how I can now both listen to events and call methods on the view model. Thanks to the samples from esri folks I was able to get this together for another productive day tomorrow. I'll be studying this code more... Thanks for you help. What I did was combine a 10.2.x sample on navigating with the view model Navigate from ViewModel | ArcGIS for Developers, and a more recent sample of listening to the GeoView Tap Events via a ControllerAccessing MapView methods like IdentifyGraphicsOverlaysAsync from viewmodel. I don't see a button for code formatting otherwise I would post what I have. It is basically relies on the classes and stuff in C# that I don't know yet, so I will be busy with that. Meanwhile getting over this hurdle will make everything soo much brighter!!

Hello all, I've been doing research on this learning with WPF and it seems so odd that functionality like Identifying/Querying Map Layers is only available on the MapView and that it is really difficult to call methods on it using MVVM. I understand more or less how to relay the events from the View to the View Model (using mvvm light), but what about simply calling a method on the MapView? Does that still require creating Controllers? I've been working with the samples available online for Navigating from the View Model, and Identification Controllers, and am so worried because I just don't understand how to make them work for me. I think the Navigating from the View Model sample provides the technique for calling methods on the View, but I am having issues with implementing it. What I am doing is attempting to Identify the layers at a point. I have the point from the Location MapPoint because I can pass that property with the Command as a CommandParameter to my ViewModel, but to perform the query on the layers I need to call a method on the MapView. That is where I need help. Am I just way off the path here? My background is in Python and javascript/typescript so I am learning the .net sdk and WPF with a plan to transition to UWP after I get a better grasp of how to structure these runtime apps. Thanks, Rich
