Hi Jerry and Lisha The Side Accordion layout is actually now available as a hosted application template in ArcGIS Online, so unlike the Shortlist you don't need to download the app and host it yourself. See the Story Map Series application template: Story Map Series | Story Maps which has three layout options: Side Accordion, Tabbed and Bulleted. This new app has an interactive builder and is fully hosted in ArcGIS Online. Rupert

There is an issue in the dialog I have noticed and have submitted as a bug report: sometimes the URL you enter for a custom logo is ignored when you press Apply, It always accepts the URL if you paste the URL in, then press Enter, then press Apply. Try that and I think it will work for you.

Hi Dami If your Shortlist web map contains some bookmarks, then a Bookmarks menu will appear automatically. You can control the name of the menu that appears using the BOOKMARKS_ALIAS parameter in the configuration section of the Index.html file Rupert

Yes you can continue updating your story map with the free public account. There are no costs associated with it. There is a 2 Gigabyte storage limit to a free public account, but it is unlikely that you'd exceed or reach that amount of storage with a public account. http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/features/public-account

Select some text first in your journal section and those options should become enabled. They are only enabled if you have the text that you want to turn into a main stage action selected.

Hi You can use the parameter "entry" in the URL to launch a map series story map at a particular tab, bullet or side accordion entry: http://angp.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/?appid=9980c2d2a5f94441bb123c69e68be52c&entry=3 http://story.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/?appid=ed44254add784433bcbf0bacdc48e717&entry=14 http://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/?appid=f65cc11e3b7d4cdc9cec1b27ef6b7be3&entry=3

That is correct: the Story Map Shortlist accesses a web map containing layers based on data that is also in ArcGIS Online. For example you can upload CSV or shapefiles directly into the web map. There's no relation between the server on which the Shortlist is installed and the data displayed in your Shortlist, So to deploy a Shortlist the only thing that you need to put onto your third party server is the code for the app which you downloaded and then configured (and maybe customized too). The web map and the data it contains is all in the ArcGIS Online cloud.

Another solution I'd like to suggest: use the new Story Map Series app ( Story Map Series | Story Maps ) to create a series of maps each of which shows a specific set of layers that your audience will want to see. It's a really cool app because it offers three layouts (tabbed, bulleted and side accordion) and if you want you can populate the whole series using a single map (you as the author choose which layers are shown from that map in which tab, bullet or accordion section) - you don't have to create multiple maps but of course you can. Check out this ace example by Kentucky Commonwealth to see what I mean: http://kygeonet.ky.gov/StoryMaps/KyRecreationalResources/ Instead of a single old school Table Of Contents checkable layer list, which aren't usually very easy for the general public to understand, the story map presents 4 maps, each of which has a particular set of layers turned on. So stuff is pre-authored for the end-user. More sophisticated controls can be added on via JavaScript customization though. For example have a look at the Filters in this customized map tour: Marine Important Bird Areas of Alaska

Which Story Map application are you interested in using? There are several to choose from: Apps | Story Maps and we'd need to know which one you want to use in order to answer. For example if you are interested in the Story Map Journal app ( Story Map Journal | Story Maps ) you can define clickable 'actions' in the text at the side of the map that turn specific layers on and off in the map: that might match what you want and it is built-in to the Map Journal so there's no coding to do. For example this map journal uses those actions so the end-user can see click to see different time periods: The Age of Megacities represented by different layers. In general we have not provided that layer on/off capability in the legend controls in the Story Map application layouts by default because the story map layouts aim to have very minimal GIS-type user controls and present self-contained maps to the user. You can do those by customizing the code. The Story Map Shortlist doesn't support those via its configuration options.
