Just a note that in the recent July 2015 ArcGIS Online update we enhanced the Story Map Series so it now supports 30 entries instead of the old limit of 15.

Last night we released an update to the Shortlist that fixes the issue when the Shortlist web map contains layers that are labelled in ArcGIS Online. The Shortlist will display labels configured for any supporting layers in your web map (i.e. layers that don't define the tabs in your Shortlist. Labels for layers that define tabs are not displayed. You can get the download from the Shortlist page on the Story Maps website, or via this link, or from the Story Map Shortlist Github repo.

Do have a look at AppStudio For ArcGIS that Greg mentioned. AppStudio For ArcGIS doesn't support Story Map Shortlist. But it supports Story Map Tour, and will let you create one mobile app that contains multiple map tours. So as a workaround you could make multiple map tours representing the content in your Shortlist and publish those as a single mobile app. No development skills required. For example if your Shortlist contains three tabs of places, you could make three Story Map Tours, using the places from each Shortlist tabs, and then bundle them into one mobile app using AppStudio For ArcGIS. Making map tours from Shortlist content isn't an automatic process:the main issue is that map tour expects larger images than are used in Shortlist, so you'll need larger images for your places. So not a totally easy process but could be done if you are very eager to have a standalone mobile app. Here's the landing page for an AppStudio demo mobile app that contains two map tours that were built from content originally assembled as a Shortlist (but substituting larger images than the Shortlist had).

That's correct. in ArcGIS Online My Content choose Add Item > An Application, and use the default Web Mapping option. Enter the URL to your self-hosted app, the app title and tags. It really helps if you add 'story map' and the name of the app you used 'map tour', 'shortlist', etc into the tags field so people can find it if they search for examples. Then press Add Item and you'll have a web mapping application item representing your self-hosted app. Upload a nice looking thumbnail, add any other descriptive text, then share it. Adding web mapping application items manually into ArcGIS Online enables your self-hosted story maps to be discovered when people search ArcGIS Online and to be added into galleries. For example all the self-hosted examples in the Story Maps gallery have web mapping application items created for them, which is how we were able to add them into that gallery, the featured story maps on the Story Maps home page, and into the gallery on the ArcGIS Online website. Note: web mapping application items you add into ArcGIS Online manually don't show up in the My Stories tab on the Story Maps website. My Stories only shows you your hosted story maps in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Online of course automatically generates web mapping applicatin items for all your hosted story maps.

Hi Paula When you login to ArcGIS Online normally, what's the URL of the ArcGIS for Organizations home page you get to? I just want to make sure you are using an organizational account on ArcGIS Online, and not using a Portal for ArcGIS account (Portal for ArcGIS is an Esri product, part of our Server platform, that lets enterprise's set up their own on-premise cloud behind their own firewall instead of using the ArcGIS Online cloud - My Stories doesn't support Portal for ArcGIS accounts). Currently story maps do not support offline usage. To use your story map, your end users need to be connected to the Internet, or to your enterprise network in the case of Portal for ArcGIS. Perhaps you can get on cellular network? If your presentation is not specifically about your story map, you could take screenshots of your story map and put those into Powerpoint slides. It can be just as effective as showing a live demo and your audience can try the live link themselves later.

Videos are not supported out of the box in the Story Map Shortlist because the image for each place on the map is shown in the tabs. You could embed anything you like in the Details panel that pops up by customizing the code (in this NOAA Shortlist they even embedded some Google Maps in the Details panel!) I had a look in the Story Maps Gallery and even though there are a few Shortlists all about movies I didn't find any where people had embedded videos in the Details panel.

Looking for some ideas on how to put the Esri Story Map application templates to work? Want to see some of the best new story map work by the user community, Esri teams, and Esri global distributors? Check out the Gallery on the Story Maps website: http://storymaps.arcgis.com/gallery The Story Maps team at Esri keeps it well stocked with some of the best story map examples we can find. New additions to the gallery always appear at the top so you can check back frequently to see what's new. You can filter it by app, subject, format, etc and also search it. For example click the 'Embedded/linked' filter from the list on the left, or just click this link, to see great examples of how authors are integrating story maps into their organization's web pages: Or type in a search to find story maps that mention a particular place, like Canada.
