I'm trying to develop user help files. It would be NICE if I could include them in a widget, or not have to leave the Mapplication to display this information. Surely someone has developed something or there is a recommended process for this? Or am I the first? lol

So it appears that the issue is utilizing Secured Services with Unsecured Print Services. I'm not sure why this BECAME an issue, but the problem has been resolved. Printing maps that contain secured services—Documentation (10.3 and 10.3.1) | ArcGIS for Server Voila.

Why does it print when I go to ArcGIS Online but not my Internal Map? This is frustrating.

I currently have two internal only maps. One is for our Sewer network and the other is for our Water network. I have secured the services so they aren't visible without signing in. I have configured the proxies. The maps have been working just fine until the day I was out sick (of course). Now I've got tickets coming in with print issues. I can't tell if they have always existed, or are brand new, because when we developed these maps they were SUPPOSED to be temporary and replaced by a proprietary system that will be managing our fluid networks. But basically, every aspect of the web maps works just fine. EXCEPT... Print.

Yeah, I dumped urlUtils into the code and added a proxy rule to no avail... Surely this isn't impossible?! Maybe I'm going at this from the wrong direction. Technically, all I want to do is manipulate Vector styles to get a feel for them.

Yeah, I wasn't able to do that. Now I can. Now I'm getting a 403 error and this appears to be as you stated... a cross domain or proxy issue.

Ok. I added the json MIME type and I get some progress. It looks like the problem is as Robert Scheitlin, GISP said. So this is a cross-domain issue? Or a proxy?

And see, Robert that is where my confusion comes in. I can't even access that root.json file directly from within. I'm uncertain of how it can be blocked or what is blocking it and I'm not sure where to look to find out that information. Like Chris Smith said, I have not checked the json MIME type on the server. I assume it works because of all of the other activity we have going on through it but I'm not certain. What would you suggest to check the link availability?

So I'm trying to play with the Vector Sample in the API and it doesn't work. https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/jssamples/layers_vector.html I copied the sandbox example to my server. http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/jsdev/vector/index.html Then I copied the root.json contents to my own file. http://maps.cityoftulsa.org/jsdev/vector/style/root.json I made a single adjustment (background color) to see if my changes would propagate and I get a 404 error. I know the file is there. I have both copied and renamed it from the server directly. It's there. The contents match exactly with what I am trying to do. Still nothing. I will happily admit I am clueless as to vector styling via JSON, so maybe I'm doing something simple and ignorant of basic concepts. But I can't figure it out. I even copied and pasted the original JSON back into it and still I get a 404. Confused.

So I have created a custom print service and have been able to create an MXD that is then subsequently used by said print service FROM a Web App Builder built map. Here are my problems: 1) I have to do the following workflow for EVERY ADJUSTMENT TO ANY TEMPLATE. - Make adjustment to MXD - Close WAB Completely - Use Toolbox > Export Web Map Tool > Run - Go to ArcGIS Server ADMIN > Set blockDataCopy : false - Back to MXD - Right-Click on Geoprocessing Results > Share As Service > Overwrite - Publish - Go back to ArcGIS Server ADMIN > Set blockDataCopy : true - Open WAB - Launch Test site > Test Print - Now I see any changes I made... but if I skip even one step of this lengthy, convoluted, process then I see no changes on new print. 2) I can't get the Map Name to show up on the map? I'm assuming this is a Dynamic Text in the MXD but I can't find it. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix these issues?

I did setup the Print Service on our Print Server. Even changed the settings in the WAB. I'm still getting a blank legend. Not sure where to go next.

Some days I hate online forums because of how easily they can become convoluted. Thank you for clarifying. Yeah, this is an annoying glitch that doesn't make sense. I hope they come up with a solution to fix it.

Kevin, you're missing the issue here. When you go to print at those low scales you DON'T get pixelated basemaps, I would be happy with pixelated basemaps... you get "BASEMAP NOT AVAILABLE" on the PDF even tho you DO get the visual in the Web Map. So it's two different outputs. One for Screen and a completely different for PDF which caused multiple service tickets from end users because they could see the basemap on their screen but it wouldn't translate over to their PDF print.

So if you want to create a Map Template to use on WAB Web Maps is there a step-by-step for how to set that up? I'm so lost... but I need to do this ASAP...
