Found the problem. You can't use SQL Geography Types for offline Collector (Haven't tried SQL Geometry but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't also work). Create whole new DB with SDE10.2.2 to find the same error. Created a new feature class with same fields and SDE binary and it works. We use SQL Geography on triggers to do intersections with other featureclasses to fill fields post collection. Now we have no shortage of SDE 10.2.2s... 😕

Yes, thanks Russ. It does say that in the doco below but I had to read 4 or 5 times because of the link with versioning. At first I thought you had to have versioning and 10.1 was OK for editing but it's really the opposite. Versioning is only OK for non-editable data. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//0154000006m1000000 Now I've just got to upgrade production SDE 😕

Anyone else had the trouble with the newest version of the Dashboard where the splash screen to login appears blank and doesn't let you login. [ATTACH=CONFIG]33742[/ATTACH] I know it's my end because it only happens on one of my machines. But would anyone know what causes this? It's like the URL is being blocked.

Have the maps got an editable layer in them? I think that's a requirement for Collector. Also I've found sometimes you have to sign out of Collector and/or restart (remove from background process in iOS/Android) Collector for new maps to appear.

Can I confirm whether you need SDE 10.2? Will SDE 10.1 work? Because maybe that's my issue.

Can you describe your service? I'm creating a new point feature class using desktop 10.2.2 in a 10.1 SDE/SQL2008R2 adding archiving, global id, attachments, editor tracking (no versioning). Publishing to 10.2.2 server through a firewall - ie. SQL2008R2 through firewall. Has security - local ArcGIS Server stored security. Adding Layer in AGOL - saving password and using FeatureServer (not FeatureServer/0 - thanks Russ). I can successfully run it online and add points. I can successfully download it offline. BUT, when I click sync when it's been downloaded it only uploads and doesn't download. Gives me an error after lengthy delay - "This operation couldn't be completed. Failed to synchronize. Failed to synchronize." (Yes that's twice). Turning arcgis server security off makes no difference. Doco does seem to imply if you're editing you need 10.2 SDE ?? http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//0154000006m1000000 Russ, if you're listening, I've shared into our Debugshare group.

Reply to my own post... Well that was a bug ... for the time being don't register your secure services in arcgis.com to save passwords and then add it to your map. quick one... It's not definite from the doco that to go offline you need SDE 10.2 or will SDE 10.1 do? I'm still getting an error syncing after going offline. It will upload my features but is not downloading any more. [EDIT]Oh, re-reading the doco if we want editing we've got to have a non-versioned feature class and it has to be stored in SDE 10.2[EDIT]

I think with Collector we're going to run into the whole photo size attachment issue. Mobile it was an issue. I just noticed a photo attachment was 1.6MB. That's going to cause grief with multiple photos and 100s of features. I do like how you don't download attachments unless you click on photo in feature popup... unlike arcgis mobile which by default had download attachments ticked. Is there any way of limiting photo size in Collector?

Hi all, Finally got 10.2.2 installed - created a very simple feature class with attachments - globalid, archiving and globalid migrate relationship attachments. Published Feature Service enabling editing and sync. Registered on arcgis.com with remember password - it is a secure feature service. Allows offline on arcgis.com. Works OK online. Go to download offline in Collector and it gives me the message InvalidURL. Any Ideas? Have shared in our debugshare group with mobileios. [EDIT] Republished service in directory with no security and it works!! Not good.[EDIT]

I have been testing a few of the Geneq blue, both the GNSS and II-B beacon model. Both are excellent and greatly increase the accuracy of the data collection. They also make repeat positioning a reality. I found that I could get meter - sub meter collections on a regular basis. I encourage people to give it a try. Craig Are you saying the Geneq blue worked with Collector? Has anyone tried the Garmin GLO Bluetooth?

I can't seem to publish any services on a new install of 10.2 Getting the basic item metadata 1360 problem. I'm assuming it's permissions related. The server's site is on a unc address with full share and security read right to the arcgis server account. ie. I've browsed into the UNC address with the domain account and was able to create files. I've even tried creating to local accounts with same password and sharing that way. There is no security enabled within arcgis server. What am I missing? Something obvious I'm sure.

Thank you for the advice. We had Windows domain security at a GIS machine level and we've had pretty average performance compared to our development box that has internal arcgis security. There was no real need for domain security. Overnight we've gone back to internal arcgis security and publishing is now working and the rest interface is running much better. Possibly this could be caused by a slow domain server (and that wouldn't suprise me), but I've read on the forums about some slow performance under 10.1 (and it maybe 10.2) when using domain security.

Upgrade 10.1 (no sp1) to 10.2 and having all sorts of trouble. 1 web server with 4 gis machines and file server all 2008R2 Can't publish. Says map was successfully published, however the service did not start. "Error: Could not find resource or operation". Tried through web server and gis machine with no luck. Also if I go to the web server and go to the http://localhost/arcgis/rest/services the rest interface comes up instantly. If I go to another machine and go to http://<webserver>/arcgis/rest/services it can take 30seconds plus. Services are timing out in our web app. Has anyone experienced this after an upgrade?
