My position is not that of a new user/license. I have chosen in the past to renew Maintenance and this year the timing on that was entirely based on gaining access to ArcGIS Pro 1.0. It would not concern me in the least to lose access to ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS when/if my Maintenance lapses. Last year I used 0 of my 100 credits and so far this year I have used 1 of 100 credits. After using ArcGIS Pro for some time, I suspect I may start to use more, maybe all, of those credits, but at the moment I look at ArcGIS Pro first and foremost as being a replacement for ArcMap as my desktop GIS application which is why I assumed that the flagship desktop licensing model I signed up for would remain perpetual. The importance and positioning of ArcGIS Pro as a desktop application is evident from the opening sentence of its Help: "ArcGIS Pro is the essential application for creating and working with spatial data on your desktop." I'm not sure if you realize how expensive ArcGIS for Desktop maintenance is in Australia but on the related poll thread I am talking about the Annual Maintenance and not the purchase price.

To summarize, you seem to be confirming that if ArcGIS for Desktop Maintenance lapses then licenses for its ArcGIS Pro application are revoked. For me that is incredibly disappointing because: I am otherwise very excited about ArcGIS Pro I feel like something I bought into from my own pocket has significantly evaporated Changing license models in exchange for a much reduced annual cost (perhaps $1,000 for Standard) would be far more palatable.

Initial results from the Poll entitled seems to indicate that, if the information you got is correct, then it is going to be very unpopular.

When maintenance lapses it would seem fair that ArcGIS Pro upgrades are withheld (like they are for the rest of ArcGIS for Desktop) but I cannot see why entitlement to use the last version downloaded should be revoked. After all, I suspect that it is our ArcGIS for Desktop Maintenance (by far my biggest expenditure item each year) that will have been funding the development of ArcGIS Pro. Perpetual ARC/INFO licenses rolling over to perpetual ArcGIS for Desktop licenses would seem to set the precedent for rolling over to perpetual ArcGIS Pro licenses. To be able to access the upgrades is the only reason I pay Maintenance each year and I have been doing that on the assumption that entitlement to use the software supplied by that Maintenance would be uninterrupted even if my payment was not always made by its anniversary. I'm glad you raised this here.

Surely that cannot be the case for the perpetual license that I purchased. I just looked through that license agreement and I cannot see it say that anywhere so I'm really hoping that you did not get accurate information.

If you are seeing this with 4Gb RAM and you have the opportunity to try and do it with 12Gb of RAM then you may find that to be the solution.

Hi The workaround is to project the geometry in-place with projectAs: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//018z00000070000000 Regards This looks like an excellent workaround for the original poster but I am not sure that it will be able to help me. The reason for that is that the feature class that I want to Project has (at a guess, because I am not onsite today to check) 10,000 or so polygons, and in this instance I cannot use arcpy.da because that client is at ArcGIS 10.0.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a documented software limitation of in_memory workspaces. I say unfortunately because I just hit it too

Many thanks for this code which I used today. In the short term, I think the Layer (arcpy.mapping) documentation should be enhanced to mention that the visible property result may be misleading when dealing with Layer Groups, and to have this code mentioned as a workaround. In the medium term, perhaps there can be a new checkedOn property added to return True or False irrespective of the Layer Group setting, and the visible property behaviour modified to reflect whether the layer really is visible.

I saw the exact same "Failed to save the model" message a couple times a few days ago and then about 10 times today. I was using ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 SP1 with a model of 200-300 elements in a toolbox with 50+ tools organised into six toolsets. It is an extremely frustrating situation because today ModelBuilder sometimes said that it had failed to save, but actually did, and exited cleanly. At other times it seems to save, but then when I close ModelBuilder it asks me whether I want to save, and then choosing either yes or no results in the model being empty (except for one label!) when it is next opened. I have had to resort to making copies of the model every time I make a modification or two. Realistically, saving to a Python script as a backup is not a viable option for anything but the most trivial models.

I think all ArcGIS Ideas categorized under ArcGIS Desktop, and which have not been Implemented, should be re-categorized as ArcGIS Ideas for ArcGIS Professional. If this is not possible to do, then can an ArcGIS Professional category be created so that we can start letting Software Development know our ideas for what we think should be considered for implementation first?

If your Tile Matrix is in a different datum from the data frame then you will need to apply a Transformation to have them line up. I cannot see anything in your post to say whether you have included this step.
