@ThomasHervey1 so the user reported back and said that the link is redirecting to: https://maps-nevcounty.opendata.arcgis.com/maps/nevcounty::road-centerlines/about I'll make a ticket with Esri - something sounds like it's hosed. The link shouldn't be redirecting and even when it does there are no Download options and the item type is reporting back differently as you and I noticed in the screenshots.

Thanks @Koen. My plan is to see if this is a common issue first by posting here and see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. If not, then I'll create a technical support case with esri, but that's going to be challenging since esri can't replicate the issue. I'll shall try anyway.

I did notice that, too. Even though it's the same item which points to a FeatureServer rest endpoint, their landing page is showing a "Feature Service" and my about page is calling it a "Feature Layer". That they are different makes no sense because it's the same item on AGOL. I assumed the URL for their landing page was the same as the one they clicked on: https://maps-nevcounty.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/504d7ac45ee3469fb0f0dbc8b00a3c09_1200/explore?location=39.261063%2C-120.653550%2C9.94 But I just asked them if they could send me the URL of their landing page with missing buttons to see if it's getting changed somehow.

We host our open data rest services in California, and our Open Data site with AGOL Hub. We recently had someone from Canada report that they couldn't download data from our Open Data site. We verified that they can see our rest endpoints, but when they sent us the screenshot of what they are seeing on our Open Data Hub site on AGOL, I was surprised to see there are no Download options on the left blue tab, nor are there any buttons to the right of the item thumbnail. For example, our Road Centerlines offering, when you click on it should land you on a page like this: Instead of that, they end up on what appears to be the 'about' page, but it's missing some key components: This is what that about page should look like: Anyone have any idea why they would be seeing a different page, and one that has no download options? Also, is anyone else seeing these same issues on our Open Data hub site?

Did you ever figure out a solution, @DavidAlfordLPAO? I'm in ArcGIS Pro 3.2.2 and I'm getting the same error message/alert in Notifications. What's perplexing is that the query is confirmed as "valid" by the label tool, but when you apply it to the label class the error message appears. It has something to do with the "()" I believe, but if it did then why does the validation check say it's okay? So strange. Also, this exact same expression works perfectly well in the Definition Query and as a regular "Select By Attributes" query. This must be a bug in the labelling stack. I'll call Esri Support and see what I can learn.

The four suggestions they offer will usually solve the problem. In my experience this issue is usually caused by data being longer in the input than the output field can accept. Rarely, it will be a geometry issue, so repair geometry fixes it.

Another idea is to have a tab in the TOC to view/manage Definition Queries, much like how Labeling has it's own tab, and the labeling pane handles display filters: This way, chips won't mess up the Layers tab, it's out of the way if you don't want to look at it, but it's there if you need it.

I low key hope this is Chapter one of your “Adventures in Mapping” autobiographical! That was so, so good. The scene where you’re in the dark room with the aviators on was hilarious and the moral of the story was so well put. Glad you kept your chin up. The Cartography world is a better place with you in it!

I rebuilt the feature template using the Map Classic (why isn't this available in the new map yet, it's August 2023??) but that didn't work. I tried turning on/off the "Keep track of changes to the data (add, update, delete features)." but it didn't fix the problem. I then tried turning off/on all of those features (Enable editing, Keep track of changes..., Keep track of who... Enable Sync... ). I also rebuilt the Spatial Index (not sure if necessary). Then it finally started working again.
