Hi Robert, I've attached the Google Earth time slider. The half-moon looking item on the bar below the 2 am can be slide left or right and sets the width of the time window. The other item on the bar near the "11" of 11/6/2010 moves the time window. Brian

Very nice work. Do you thinik it would be possible to have the user select a time window instead of specifying a fixed one maybe similar to the animation in Google Earth? thanks. Brian Kaplan, CDC Adam, I can add a configuration opton to this widget in the next release to start the slider at the end. As far as version of Flash Builder, you could easyly get away with just purchasing the standard version.

Hi, Excuse my double posting here and in the Maplex forum (but do you think there are too many subforums?) After I set Maplex properties and created feature linked annotation, is it possible to change the Maplex properties and have those changed reflected in the feature linked annotation. Or do I have to go through the process of re-creating the feature linked annotation (I hoped the latter isn't the only way!!!). Thanks Brian

Thanks for checking. When I add the rest layer to ArcMap, the legend comes up with the polygon symbol and a Y. The polygon represents multiple datarows. When I use the info buttom, I get all records with N and Y, so something may be funky with the data feed. Brian

Is this solution the only option at this point? Could the flexviewer include this as command in the tag? Thanks.

Here's one that I cannot get to work.. <layer label="USGS National Hazard System 1" type="dynamic" visible="false" alpha="1.0" url="http://rmgsc.cr.usgs.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/nhss_haz/MapServer"> <sublayer id="5" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_USGS_NHSS_Wildfire.xml"/> <sublayer id="6" definitionexpression="ACTIVE='Y'" popupconfig="popups/PopUp_USGS_NHSS_WildfirePerimeters.xml" /> </layer> Adding this definitionexpression makes this whole layer not show up. Does anyone see anything obvious. I'm using 2.4 thanks Brian Kaplan

There is a ESRI supplied dll file writtien for ArcGIS Version 9.x that provides the ability to have the feature linked annotation filtered based on the Definition Queries of Originating layer. See http://edndoc.esri.com/arcobjects/8.3/?URL=/arcobjectsonline/samples/arcmap/layers/layerpropertypage/layerproppageprj.htm Has anyone gotten this to work in 10.0 or is there another way? Thanks.

Robert, if you are still listening to this post, could you point me in the right direction for changing the symbology for pre 10 service. Thanks. Brian Brian, There is a way for you to handle the symbology of the feature layer in the Flex Viewer MapManager.mxml if you are one of those that has access to Flash Builder. Let me know if you want to go down that route.

Hi Robert, Yes, I do have access to flash builder. Having the ability to change the symbology would by very helpful if you wouldn't mind passing that on. Thanks Brian.

Hi Robert, Thank you very very much. The mode command fixed it. The symbology is a drawback though. I don't know if/when the Pacific Disaster Center will upgrade. I'm now experimenting with the wms feeds from NOWCOAST and the symbology is retained. Here's the address http://nowcoast.noaa.gov/help/mapservices.shtml?name=mapservices From the time I wrote the my question I finally got the following to work. <layer label="Nowcoast Data" type="wms" visiblelayers="limits" version="1.1.1" skipgetcapabilities="true" visible="false" alpha="1.0" url="http://nowcoast.noaa.gov/wms/com.esri.wms.Esrimap/wwa?service=wms&version=1.1.1&request=GetMap&Layers=NHC_TRACK_POLY,NHC_TRACK_LIN,NHC_TRACK_PT"/> BTW, I came across your weather underground widget the other day. Thank you for putting that together and posting it and I enjoyed viewing your County's web mapping application, past, current, and future. Hi, I have two questions about operational layers. 1. I am having a problem with adding the following http://ags.pdc.org/rest/services/GHIN/PDC_Active_Hazards/MapServer/10 Here's the tag in the config.xml <layer label="Forecast Storm Position" type="feature" visible="false" alpha="1.0" popupconfig="" url="http://ags.pdc.org/rest/services/GHIN/PDC_Active_Hazards/MapServer/10"/> The spatial reference is 54004. Does that matter? 2. I'm using another service with points. The flex view shows the point as a black circle. Is there a way of specifying another symbol? Thanks. Brian

I have an mxd automatically pulling from a data table that refreshes a quantitative choropleth symbology using 4 classes. The quartile classes need to be refreshed each time. I've been doing it manually by changing the classes from 4 to 5 and back to 4. I would like to automate the entire production of this map but can't figure out how to refresh the class breaks preferably using model builder and python in ArcGIS. Does anyone have an idea how? Thanks. Brian

That solution needs to be modified if you are working with a choropleth map because the Description option is only available for Single Symbol. I used the concept presented here http://www.aubreyrhea.net/gis/index.php/tag/legend/ and used a polygon data layer (it would work with point or line too) and displayed the symbology as a Features (single symbol) and then used the Description box. I set up the symbology to be no fill and no line. I hope this helps someone. BrianK
