Even though we’ve loaded metadata into the ArcGIS Online item and they are visible using the metadata URL on the right-hand side of the OpenData page, the metadata are not downloading with the zipped shapefiles. In particular, there are a few below that we’re concerned about. Do you know what’s causing this? I’ve already gone into the data manager and clicked the reset button for these datasets, but that did not help… Black_Bear_Nuisance_Reports: http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/a27014d0f6e84e3082da209995a1285f_2 Black_Bear_Roadkill: http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/0fc7d491284a4d62b8802a03a68965c0_3 Eagle_Nesting: http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/eb20bf44aeea44a8ab4a47cd4329c6b6_5 Wildlife_Observations: http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/1d4aeb26f9164be4a07b4381f0747cf0_16

Hey Rommel, Have you tried to refresh that cached download of the data before trying to download in the local projection? This option is available on the data reports tab on an individual dataset basis. Sent from my iPhone

I hadn't before now, but because the data were not reporting any Errors or Warnings, I didn't think I had to. It is a little unclear to me what that button is actually supposed to do.

Daniel, I'm having the same problem with some of my datasets. In particular, I have had problems with the ones listed below: http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/4d1b4e758e704def90773bd49806dd4c_6 http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/20ab7447d9424929bf0e7a2a633d6407_3 http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/a78160f5acaf4439b49f9fbef4c100ac_5 http://geodata.myfwc.com/datasets/bcd7aee1108a4e01b6c9bf32f5cbadbc_8 If I find others, I'll add to the list. Thanks, Chris

I presented my agency's Open Data site (geodata.myfwc.com) to all of the State of Florida Agency GIS Heads and one of their main requests was the select vector data by user drawn polygon. In particular, many of Florida's agency's have to query permit locations, water sampling wells, emergency facilities, etc. within a certain proximity of an event.

Probably need to upgrade. I’m using IE11. I think development standards are now either up to IE 9. I’m not sure why we’re getting this on Firefox. Maybe its security settings? Maybe ESRI can help us out with this. Chris Boland, GISP Biological Scientist IV / Enterprise Geodatabase Administrator

Hi Aparna, I've been able to program around this issue by including an HTML hyperlink tag in the service item description to the HTML, and I'm sure it would work for XML, version of the metadata that is saved on our servers. For Example: <a href="www.linktomymetadata.com" target=_blank>For metadata, click here</a> Its at least a stop gap until ESRI gets their metadata engine for OpenData up and running. Chris

Thanks Scott! I downloaded the new version of your script and installed ArcRest v2 and it ran perfectly on that rest endpoint. I don't know why you were getting the stack trace, but it worked fine for me. Thanks again, Chris

That's what I'm saying. The script runs through all of the layers in the web mapping service, lists the name of the layers, lists the description of the layers, but doesn't create an AGOL item for any of them and throws the error. It is not any one particular layer in the service and has occurred on many different web mapping services too, so not service specific. Currently I am trying it on this service: http://ocean.floridamarine.org/arcgis/rest/services/Oil_Spill/ACPGRP/MapServer Attached is the result of the script after running in IDLE:

Hi Daniel Fenton, Thanks for the suggestion. As you said, I added the try statement before the indicated lines of code and added the except: print serviceLayer.name statement after it and received the same results. It runs through all of the items in the service, prints the feature class name and the feature class description, then throws this error: {'error': {'messageCode': 'CONT_0057', 'message': "Invalid JSON in 'text' parameter.", 'code': 400, 'details': []}} Would you rather work offline with this? Also, FYI, I also put a note on GitHub and received an email from Scott Moore (the code developer) yesterday saying that he would try to look into it.

The ArcGIS Online Open Data documentation mentions that there are other data types supported, such as Web Maps, URLs, Documents, and PDFs. The documentation is confusing to me. It says that they are supported, but don't have their own dataset page. Users can search for them and access them from the search results, but they "will not appear on opendata.arcgis.com." How are they supported by Open Data if they "will not appear on opendata.ArcGIS.com?" My need is this. I have a couple of very large datasets (model output in vector and raster format) that are being shared through my agency's webpage as zipped geodatabases. Instead of loading the data into a service and sharing them out, it is our preference to simply create an ArcGIS Online item with a document link to the download URL for the zip file. I would then like to share these ArcGIS online items with my opendata site to make the data discoverable. I've completed the steps to make the items public and share them with open data, they show up in my Open Data Site's "Data Report" list, but are no where to be found on my Open Data site. Here are the links to the items: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=e36aa93c4b154f5fb0d940ebec1bf275 http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=eb38ddf0abd44d28850fcb1b6c751149 Am I doing something wrong or are document links really not supported in ArcGIS Online's OpenData?
