We would like to make the Esri World Traffic Service available to our Portal for ArcGIS named users, so they can add it to web-maps. Currently they can add the REST endpoint to a web-map, but it then prompts for a named user for ArcGIS Online (makes sense). As an administrator for Portal for ArcGIS, you can add additional 'utility services' from ArcGIS Online (e.g. Routing, geocoding, etc) and you only need to provide one named user, and then all of your Portal users can use these analysis services, the bill for credits just going to that one named user in AGO. I was wondering if there is a similar model for adding premium content (in this case the Traffic Service) to a Portal, without the POrtal named users all needing an additional named user for ArcGIS Online? I have also seen in ArcGIS Online, that when you include premium content into a web-map and then create an app. You can choose to still allow people to access the app, and the credit billing goes to the named user that created the app (can also apply shaping on how many credits it will use). In short: How can I add the World Traffic Service to a web-map in Portal for ArcGIS, share it to others in the Portal, but they won't get prompted for a named user to ArcGIS Online?

I saw that the August 2016 release of Survey123 treated the stripping out of EXIF data as a bug which was resolved in this release with additional functionality on how to stamp the location into the photo: In previous versions of Survey123, a limitation caused EXIF metadata to be stripped from photos submitted. We’ve done more than fix this bug, as the photo capture page now has enhanced location features. In the upper-right corner of the photo page you can now see a location icon, the same as would be familiar from geopoint questions. If this icon is visible at all, it means that your device has a location sensor, and so where you take the photo will be captured within the image. Pressing the icon will refresh the location; this is a good choice for when you want a specific location, but have moved while taking the photo. Seems appropriate for Collector for follow suit?

Hi Susmita Duncan - perhaps we should team up. Im also setting up an environment for the PI Integrator on Azure, and with some help from Esri Support, have got this running now. Can you explain a little more about your environment? - are you using an external DNS? - have you applied a domain/CA certificate to IIS or your DNS? - Are you using IIS and the ArcGIS Web Adaptor? Now that this is resolved at 10.4, can someone put me out of my misery and help explain how to allow logging into GeoEvent when I have a federated Portal which uses a DNS name? portal, server, web adaptor (IIS), data store & geoevent all on one machine on Azure Federated Server with Portal custom domain name, certificate exported and used in the root of IIS have updated the portal URL to use the domain name via the portal admin API Can login to Portal and ArcGIS Server fine using the domain name As GeoEvent does not go through IIS, I can hit it on its Azure URL, but get the invalid redirect URI error, as Portal does not trust someone trying to login from this foreign URL. Im wondering how to get around this? Some kind of rewrite rule with ARR in IIS? Larger context is I need to be allow access from the OSIsoft Pi Integrator for ArcGIS (which only works against a federated Portal) to login to GeoEvent. UPDATE: Just noticed that if I use CloudBuilder for Azure and choose self-signed, it creates a series of URL Rewrite rules in IIS under two subfolders

RJ Sunderman I have ArcGIS Server, Portal, Data Store & Geoevent all installed on one Azure VM. I am also using a custom domain name which is registered with IIS where the web adaptor sits. This allows me to login to ArcGIS Server and Portal via this external domain name, but as GeoEvent does not sit within IIS, I cannot login to GeoEvent via its VM machine name (as Portal does not trust the URL, giving me an invalid redirect URI error) I am wondering if I can make use of ARR to get around this issue?

I have the same issue, but think I can provide some more info to help explain things. I have a Domain name = e.g. https://dnsalias.domain.com The CNAME of this domain points to the IIS on an machine where I have 10.4.1 Portal, Server and GeoEvent installed and federated. (e.g. https://machinename/arcgis/home) The web adapter is registered with https://dnsalias.domain.com I can access Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server via this alias and login fine. GeoEvent does not flow through IIS/Web Adapter, so have to hit it on https://machinename:6143/arcgis/home But because this is not known/trusted by the Portal, then its going to give me the invalid_uri error (see this post for more info). Therefore, I assume I need to somehow allow access to GeoEvent through IIS if that makes sense? Can anyone comment on how to go about doing this?

Hi Kenneth OGuinn Thanks for this advice. However, how about this scenario... Domain name = https://dnsalias.domain.com The CNAME of this domain points to the IIS on an machine where I have 10.4.1 Portal, Server, Data Store and GeoEvent installed and federated. (e.g. https://machinename/arcgis/home) Machine is on Azure, Windows Server 2012 The PFX certificate from https://dnsalias.domain.com has been applied to the root of IIS Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server still using their Self Signed Certificates I can access Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server via this DNS alias and login fine (e.g. https://dnsalias.domain.com/arcgis/manager GeoEvent does not flow through IIS/Web Adapter, so have to hit it on https://machinename:6143/arcgis/home But because this is not known/trusted by the Portal, then its going to give me the invalid_uri error Any ideas on how to get around this? Really appreciate any help or pointers you can provide. I saw a bug at 10.3 (fixed at 10.4) which suggests that this should be possible, I just imagine I need to make some additional config changes. BUG-000092043 : The GeoEvent Processor in a federated ArcGIS for Server and Portal for ArcGIS environment does not allow users to login to environments which utilizes a DNS name for their Portal site.

Is there still interest in this? I am in the process of building an address locator based upon the GNAF data that is now open data. Im hoping to be able to squeeze it into a file geodatabase. Let me know!

I am running Portal for ArcGIS 10.4, but having some problems trying to apply URL parameters to the Map Viewer. ArcGIS Online this works fine as per the docco, but these do not seem to work in the map viewer in Portal for ArcGIS. I know the embedded Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS supports URL params, but was wondering if the Map Viewer URL params are not as up to date when compared to ArcGIS Online. Can someone provide some more guidance on what URL params are available in Portal for ArcGIS 10.4? Thanks

Late response, but finally did some testing in Australia. I threw in a bounding box and is now working fine. I'm not getting any stray points outside of my box, but then Australia has a lot less traffic than Europe or the USA.

I have a static polygon (catchments) layer. I have a number of points (river gauges) that have a fixed location, but GeoEvent is updating their flow values every few minutes via an 'Update a feature' output connector. Many river gauges can fall within the many catchments. Each catchment has a unique ID Each river gauge has a unique ID. The river gauge has no attribute telling me which catchment it falls within. I want to update a 'Average Flow' attribute within the catchment layer, to reflect what the current average readings are for the river gauges that fall within it. I am sure this should be a simple one to solve, but would like to do this as elegantly as possible. I assume that I need to import the catchment layer as a geofence (one off import as never changes) Should I be making use of either an incident detector or a spatial processor to find out the underlying gauges within each catchment? A field calculator to calculate the average value for these values for each catchment An update a feature output connector to send the update to the catchments layer The bit I am missing is how to summarise the information. How can I turn the 4 events in the left catchment (in figure) into one average value to then send onto the cathment layer, same again but the 3 events for the right catchment? RJ Sunderman care to put me out of my misery? How would you achieve this?

I have two organisation accounts. (A & B) I want to share a Map Journal created by A, with B. The Map Journal also contains 3 story maps (swipe, 2x time) that have been embedded via a URL. These story maps also created and owned by organisation A. I have shared ALL of the content (layers, web-maps, apps) created by A, to a group owned by B. When someone from B (who created the group) tried to open the Map Journal. The maps that are a part of Map Journal (ones that include main stage actions) display fine for A & B. When someone from B (who created the group) tries to access the sections that include the embedded story maps, the page denies the request: If the same person tries to view the separte story map in an new tab, they have to login to B again, but then works fine to view the story map from A. Some other notes: Have tried the following embed URLs: http://arcgis.com/apps/Time/index.html?appid=.... http://A.com/apps/Time/index.html?appid=... Have tried hitting the Map Journal from both HTTP and HTTPS. None of the embed URLs have HTTPS, therefore not hitting map journal with HTTPS. I would assume that if someone was logged into B, and was in the group where the content from A was shared, they would be able to see both the map journal and any of the shared story maps that are embedded within it? Would prefer to avoid going down the application authentication path (appID, hosting apps on S3, etc) Gregory L'Azou ? Thanks!
