Agreed, but on a different side note. Why bother to create a line of code to to the calculation for only 10 values? Set up the Query in Pro starting at 1 and manually field calculate the values. For that few values it would take longer to write the code. However, 10 iffs = 10 opening parenthesis which would equal 10 closing.

A really slick part is you can also export the table using the Alias as the column header and you can populate subtypes and domained values with the Description rather than the code.

Or create a look up table as a .csv or .txt file. Bring it into your project, to a join and populate the text field.

Alternately you can create a domain out of the vegetation types and assign that domain to the attribute with the vegetation types. However, as you only have a very few choices why not just do a query and update the new attribute manually. It would take less time than it does to write to code Or if you switch to Arcade the code would look like this iif($feature.[attribute] = 1, 'Forest Cover', iif($feature.[attribute] = 2 , 'Shrub Cover', etc etc...)) Just continue the second value until you get to 10 then make the final value Not Found instead of a new iff statement.

No you cannot convert it from string to double. When you checked the Date Type did it also show that the length of the string was also several million long? when you want to bring Excel Spreadsheets directly into a database your best option is to create the table in your database and then load the data.

I should also note, I did that in ArcMap and they participated in a Geometric Network. I could then just grab the label point and the leader would move with it. That particular GIS database was only used to generate PDF and Paper Map books so I was able to do it all at the same scale. Another option for it was to create a point for each meter. Then using a domain to make it visible or not visible. I then offset it by 5 feet and used the XY to line tool to generate leaders. Rebuilt the geometric network. Each leader was the same length give or take an inch. I used a definition query to keep the label off if the length was less then 6. So If I moved the point out a foot it would turn on. The nice thing about using the label points was every label would stay were it was. Fortunately I no longer do that.

Not a big fan of annotation myself, really only good in a narrow range of scale. It has been made as a suggestion a number of times. I did create label points once and then drew in a label leader. The beginning of the leader was white. I would do that for the difficult locations.

In my my opinion ArcMap is superior for serious editing. However, ArcGIS Pro, is superior for creating feature services and web maps. If you use Pro in the Design > Fields dialog you can designate whether or not the thousands separator is showing for a numeric field

I work for a Generation and Transmission company. We have buried assets, lines, marker balls, splice points, vaults. We use still photos for all that. However, to that end if the client needs video for the evidence of proper working order then you may want to try it with collector. With Collector you could generate a point at the site and attach photos and videos quite rapidly. Or you could generate that at points you generate in the office before going into the field.

In order to save changes like not showing the thousands separator you would have to save it. And it would save it as a Web Map. As far as I know the option for that has been around for a long time, i.e. since before 10.7 Are you sure the field is a Number field? Go to its properties and make sure it isn't a String with was populated with commas. https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000024156

You may need to contact your Garmin rep for that. The Virb is more intended for being used as an Action Cam. But it should be capturing your location as it has built in GPS. I would speculate some sort of internal setting. However, why would you want to capture video of a buried asset location? I mean why video? Seems over kill AND it takes up a lot of space. Perhaps your better option would be to use Collector or Field Maps. That way you can collect Georeferenced photos, audio, or video right from your Smartphone or tablet.

Pretty much my number one gripe about labels. They probably don't do it because the leader would be visible under the label and would require the label to be masked. But you would think with Pro that you could set up attribute fields to say yes it has a leader or no and then yes it has a halo or no etc.
