I have some very interesting observations about this bug. Some background. I'm producing maps of some local parks and exporting them as PDFs. A local graphics design firm, presumably using Adobe products on Macs, is then placing the map in larger publications, mostly large Kiosks that are placed in the parks. When I sent a preliminary PDF to one of the designers, I asked her if she can remove them using Adobe Products. She said that she didn't see the lines and that they "don't exist". That made me think that we can proceed with using the maps exported by Pro because the lines won't be visible in subsequent products that they produce using Adobe. Well, they just sent back a PDF proof of a map that was placed in an Adobe document and the lines are showing up when: I open the PDF on my Windows 10 machine using Chrome and Acrobat Reader I "previewed" the PDF on my Android phone using the Gmail app My co-worker opened the PDF on his Windows 10 computer using Chrome They are not showing up on Any of the PDFs that are opened on the designers' Mac computers My co-workers iPhone (the same co-worker that saw the grid lines when he opened the PDF on his Win 10 machine). Robert, I think this will help the Pro development team troubleshoot this problem. Do you have the ability to add this information to that bug report?

By "Personal ArcSDE" (PSDE), I mean the ArcSDE that runs on SQL Server Express is included for free with ArcGIS Desktop "Advanced" (formerly "ArcInfo"). I have countless use cases where I need SQL access to my GIS data. In the past, I’ve often used Personal (Access) Geodatabases when these needs have arisen, but that option isn’t available with ArcGIS Pro. Consequently, Personal GBD’s have one foot in the grave. At other times, I’m working more data than PGDBs/Access can handle gracefully. In these situations, I rely on Personal SDE for my workflows and analytic projects. I understand why ESRI set up three tiers SDE databases (Personal, Workgroup, Enterprise). If a few users want to connect to the same database, and especially edit that database, then I think it’s reasonable for them pay more for that functionality by purchasing a “workgroup” license. Fair enough. But I am frequently being denied more connections to the Personal SDE server installed on my local machine when I’m multitasking and have a few ArcGIS Desktop products open. As an example, I feel that I should be able to: edit one PSDE feature class in one ArcMap/Pro window work on a lay out with PSDE data in another run one or more long-running geoprocessing scripts It’s frustrating to open an MXD or Pro project and see a long list of red exclamation marks in the table of contents caused by the inability to connect to my database because ArcCatalog happened to be open at the same time. We pay a handsome sum of money for ArcGIS Desktop “Advanced” and my productivity should not be hampered by these over-reaching restrictions. Again, I think it’s totally reasonable for ESRI to limit the number of users or the number of different machines with respect to PSDE database connections. I also think it’d be fair for ESRI to deny PSDE connections from any machine running any ArcGIS Server roles (i.e., prevent people from using PSDE database to run ArcGIS server applications). That is not a “personal” use of the software. However, if I (one individual) want to connect the PSDE database on my machine, then I should be allotted a good number of more connections. This situation is amplified by having no other SQL access to my data once ArcMap is gone and the personal (Access) geodatabases are history. It's also complicated by ESRI's seeming resistance to provide an ODBC driver for the file geodatabase.

I'm experiencing this issue with the latest available release (2.1.2). The link to the bug report above states that this problem can be circumvented by specifying a resolution lower than 200 DPI. I tried 150 DPI, but the lines still appear, as shown below. The "Microsoft Print to PDF" option is not a feasible workaround for me because: 1) We need to print at high resolution. Based on the small file size created by this "printer", I'm guessing it's not a high resolution. 2) The CMYK color model that I've specified seems to be ignored when printing to the PDF 3) Custom sizes are a pain when using Microsoft Print to PDF. I found a hack for creating a custom page size here: Custom Page Sizes for Microsoft Print to PDF « Franklin Heath Ltd . But you have to go through those steps for every custom page size that you need. I'm trying to adopt Pro, but I run into snags fairly frequently. This is another one.....

I've been using the final (non-beta) release of 2.1 for a few days now and most of these problems seem to be gone! I haven't run into a slow interface issue yet, but I'll post it if I do.

I've successfully created a Crowdsource Reporter web app using the configurable app. It is hosted in our ArcGIS Online account (not an on-premises server or portal). Overall, it's been a pretty easy process and I've successfully created the required Facebook app. Then I've been able to log into the CS app using my FB account. Step 9 of the documentation that guided me through the process of setting up FB access says: Click App Review in the menu on the left side of the dashboard and enable public access under the Make Public heading. This will allow the public to use their Facebook accounts to sign in to your app. You can still control who can access your application using the ArcGIS sharing permissions. I cannot find the settings that will allow me to grant access to certain Facebook users. Is that possible? The wording in the above quote makes it sound like I should be able to do that. Or does that last sentence mean we can change certain access options, but only for accounts signed in via ArcGIS Online? Thanks!

We often export WAB apps and deploy them on our web server because we need access to ArcGIS map tiles that are on a separate server and behind a proxy. That requires us to download edit the JS code to configure the proxy settings. It looks like all of the widgets that are exported contain files for multiple languages. Here's a screenshot from the 'Directions Widget' folder When I downloaded our WAB app from ArcGIS Online, it contained 7365 files in 834 folders!. Even though many of those files are very small (each of the above files were 2-4kb), it takes a long time for us to upload all of these files to our webserver. I understand the need to support multiple languages and I'm glad that ESRI provides such flexibility. But I imagine that most (nearly all?) organizations only need to deploy apps in 1 language, maybe 2 tops. I'd like to see an option to specify which languages are needed for your app, such as "en", "es", "fr". Then WAB would only export the files that are needed for the specified language.

Thanks for the quick response, Allison. I changed the http to https in Chrome on my Android phone and the geolocation button showed up! Same for Firefox on my phone and Chrome and Edge on Windows 10. So it seems that our AGO admin has already enabled SSL. So far, this app is very useful and easy to tune

Andrew, how did you add the "geolocation button" to the map in the Crowdsource Reporter? We are planning to host the app within our ArcGIS Online account rather than hosting it on our web server. Can the button be added if we host it on AGOL? Thanks, Alex

We had to 'pause' updates in our office because of conflicts with our antivirus. So the fix didn't get rolled out to my computer when other Win7/10 users probably received updates.

Yep, that'd definitely be the fastest way to do it. But I need to review all of these polygons to make sure I'm merging them into the correct target polygon.

Frustrating, isn't it? Did you import any ArcMap layer files into your Pro project? Or import an MXD? I still think that the older layer files that point at our SDE database are the primary cause of the problems I was experiencing, but I've since had a couple of Pro projects slow down pretty severely. Hopefully this isn't a trend.

Thanks. I'm currently in the process of cleaning up some data and merging lots of polygons. Right now, the process is 1) select both polygons 2) hit the merge button on the Edit tab (if the merge 'tool' window isn't already open) 3) click the buttons in the 'feature to merge' box until the correct target polygon flashes 4) hit the merge button Granted, that's not a horrible workflow. But it would be nice get that done in one operation.

I vaguely remember a tool that would allow you to draw a line from one polygon to an adjacent polygon to merge them. Then the polygon at the end of the line would be merged with the polygon at the start of the line. The resulting merged polygon would receive the attribute of the polygon at the start of the drawn line. Does anyone else remember that tool? Was that an ArcView 3.2 tool? Is there an equivalent in Pro or ArcMap?
