I just downloaded and installed Pro 2.2.0. Unfortunately, this issue is still occurring.

It's almost a year later and we are experiencing the "phantom unit numbers" on a 10.5.1 locator service that hits our address points. More specifically, if you type "400 Main S" it'll return these suggestions: 400 MAIN ST 400 MAIN ST, APT 1001 400 MAIN ST, APT 1002 400 MAIN ST, APT 1003 There are no address points with unit numbers at 400 Main St... no 1001 or 1002, only 400 Main St. Additionally, there are no unit numbers of 1001 or 1002 at any house number on Main St (our Main St is only a few blocks).

Hopefully that will change because this problem will impede quite a number of my workflows. I'll post in ideas.arcgis.com

Thanks for the response, Dan. That is the exact help page that I landed on when I searched on the Pro help documents. Unless I'm misinterpreting it, that page explains how you adjust the settings on the locator. The locator that I use on our county's ArcGIS Server, which is good because it's pointed at our live address points, so recently added addresses will be found by the locator. But as I mentioned, I don't have the authorization to modify those settings on AGS. When somebody sends me a table of addresses to geocode, I sometimes need high minimum match scores. Other times we can tolerate lower quality matches and I can lower the minimum score. In ArcMap and ArcCatalog, you can right-click a table and choose "Geocode Addresses". You eventually get the option to set the scoring that is shown in my screenshot above. I can't find a way to do that in Pro. So it seems that I'm stuck with the settings that are on the locator served by ArcGIS Server. I often set the minimum match scores very low. Then I sort the geocoding results by the Score column, descending. Then I open the review/rematch dialog and attempt to find acceptable matches for the lower scoring addresses. Eventually, I'll find the score where the matches are so bad that I conclude that we should reject all of the scores below it; it's no longer worth using the review/rematch dialog at that point. However, I can't ask our AGS admins to lower the match score that low. That's why it's nice to have that option as an ArcMap/ArcCatalog/ArcPro client. Hopefully that's clearer than mud......

We have a classic county-level enterprise GIS set up: a central ArcGIS Server and many desktop and web clients. The central staff set up various AGS address locators against our county's address points and street centerline ranges. I then batch geocode various address lists against these locators. In ArcMap/ArcCatalog, you have the option to change the geocoding "Matching Options" when geocoding a table of addresses, as shown below Is there an equivalent in Pro? I searched for "spelling sensitivity" in the Pro help files, but it only led me to instructions on creating a locator or modifying a locator's settings. I am not authorized to make many changes to our AGS, including locators. Even if I was, it's probably not a good idea to change our enterprise locator properties every time I need to change the spelling sensitivity or minimum match score for a specific address list. That's why it's nice to have these options as a client (ArcMap or ArcCatalog). Can this be done in Pro?

Yes, please! Our on-premises ArcGIS Server has a number of internally-produced cached maps. But to prevent external abuse of our cached maps, our AGS admins set up a proxy. We can then configure apps to redirect to the proxy by editing their JavaScript code. But we can't do this with layers in web maps. So we can't make a simple AGO Web map that has some points from an AGO feature service and our cached base map. Our only solution (that I'm aware of) is to make an app

Yes, please. I'd also like to prevent people from panning to irrelevant areas. We're about to publish some proposed zoning changes in Knox County, TN via ArcGIS Online. There's no need for the map viewer to visit North Carolina, Washington State or even Japan.

The extra step seems unnecessary to me too. Also, you'd end up with fewer "feature services" cluttering your account and complicating data management.

Thanks for responding. I realize the documentation says "users", but I think it's really limiting the number of connections. It would be interesting to know what you find if you test it. I should mention that I'm still using ArcGIS Desktop 10.3.1 and I'm fairly certain that the "Personal ArcSDE" version that I'm using was installed via the 10.3.1 installation media. What version are you using? Here's how you can test the number of connections. Create a geodatabase on the "Database Servers" node in ArcCatalog and import some data into it. Leave the connection open in ArcCatalog. Launch ArcMap and add the data from the Personal SDE database. Save the MXD. Launch several more instances of ArcMap and open the MXD. Do you eventually see something all of the red exclamation points indicating broken links (because Personal SDE denied more connections)? This is the situation that led to the above screenshot. ArcCatalog is browsing the database. I opened 2 mxd's that point at the database and they can connect. When I open a 3rd MXD, I get the exclamation points. I wasn't editing any of the feature classes. Nobody else is connected to this "Database Server" that's installed on the same machine that I connecting from. Similar situations can happen if you're running a geoprocessing script - that counts as a connection. Over the years I've noticed that ArcMap doesn't always release connections to various databases (mdb, gdb, SDE) when a new MXD is opened that doesn't reference any geodatabases (like a blank MXD). In this situation, ArcCatalog sometimes complains about locks when you try to change something about a feature class or table. This situation sometimes causes me to hit my 3-ish connection limit even though the MXD isn't referencing anything. Frustrating.

Hello all. I'm wondering what you all think about my "idea" to allow more than just 2 or 3 connections when only 1 user is connected to a "Desktop Geodatabase". Thoughts?

Update, it looks like Personal ArcSDE databases are now called "Desktop Geodatabases". Even still, 1 user should be able to make more than just 2 or 3 connections.
