Commenting because this has crossover with my idea. https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/allow-shape-field-to-be-used-in-definition-query/idi-p/973501

This is still not possible. Like others mentioned, this is for automation of portrait and landscape map series layouts. The index polygons change, so one week the map might be portrait, and the next landscape. Not so say there aren't other methods to manually do this, but this was possible in ArcMap. There are a lot of uses for shape definitions!

Is it possible that points are being orphaned during the post-processing step of "Delete Identical" via Shape field? After further testing, there are some points that are going away during this process, but some remain whether I edit or even make historic all the parcel types in that area. Just a hunch that they might belong to one of the lines that was deleted, but the points for it are still there. When I merge or build or mark historic, the current line's points are going away, but those from its original duplicate are not.

Hi Amir, Thank you for the reply. In my scenario, first I did Shrink to Seeds. Then I deleted all the original lines that were present from the original polygons (the densified arc situation). Next I made all new lines with just the correct amount of vertices. Finally I did a Build Active. That is seen in the first screenshot. So when I built active, I was expecting all those points to drop out on the newly built parcels, but they persisted despite the underlying lines that caused them being gone (second screenshot). The polygons (both lot and parcel polys) are fixed and the lines are too, but the original points remain.

I have followed the instructions for modifying parcels. Shrink to Seeds, edit, and build. This works great. I am able to clean up bad geometry. However, after building the polygons, the original parcel points associated with them remain. To clarify the images, this process was done in both lot and parcel polygons. See before and after photos. I assumed they would disappear during the re-build, but that does not seem to be the case. Any suggestions?

By default, when you purchase ArcGIS Desktop, the Creator User Type and your ArcGIS Pro license will be provisioned to your ArcGIS Online account. These were purchased long before ArcGIS Online, so lets just assume that my Creator User Types were provisioned to ArcGIS Online sometime around 2013ish. If the ArcGIS Desktop Creator User Type was provisioned to your ArcGIS Online subscription, you will need to call customer service to move your Creator User Type license from ArcGIS Online to ArcGIS Enterprise. If someone would have told me back in 2013 that I needed to save one of the Creator User Types and not assign it to an ArcGIS Online user because I will need it in 2020 for editing parcels, then maybe this would be feasible, but that is completely unrealistic expectation. However, Parcel Fabric User Type wasn't a thing then, and all of my Creator User Types have been assigned. This has never been a problem until right now with 10.8 Parcel Fabric User Type. Here is the solution: customers with concurrent-use licensing, who also have Enterprise Advanced, should provisioned 1 Parcel Fabric User Extension to their Portal for each concurrent use license seat.

I have been told that I will need to pay, including annual maintenance, for each Parcel Fabric User Type for every editor in my organization in order to use the Enterprise deployment for Pro Fabric. My organization has been using multi-user fabric editing from the beginning of the parcel fabric (2013). Now there is a new edition and a new fee along with it. As an organization who has endured, and the nicest word I can use, the original fabric, to have to pay to use it going forward is puzzling, unexpected, and not fair.

That does not help me, but I do thank you for the reply. I cannot move any users from AGOL to Enterprise because all of those users have been allocated already (and have been for years). After multi-user editing the parcel fabric since 2013, my licensing is no longer sufficient for that task.

How to I get the Parcel Fabric user type extension? I have advanced, concurrent use licensing for Pro, thus I do not have user types. I am a "Creator" user type in my Portal, but I am advanced licensee user of Pro. I have published my fabric, added it to my map, but cannot edit it. Customer service is trying to get me to convert my Concurrent Use to Enterprise. That does not seem right. I have been able to do multi-user editing for years with the ArcMap Fabric, but now I don't have enough licensing for a Pro Fabric? I have Enterprise Advanced, Pro Advanced, but now am being told I also need Parcel Fabric user type. Amir Bar-Maor Do you have any insights on my licensing issues? Esri Case #02623748

I would like to be able to use the SHAPE field of a feature class in the Definition Query dialog. Example: I have two layouts in ArcGIS Pro - one portrait and one landscape. I want to apply a definition query to my data driven pages index that includes only shapes that are taller than they are wide and vice versa (SHAPE.extent.YMax - SHAPE.extent.Ymin > SHAPE.extent.XMax - SHAPE.extent.XMin).

I would like to set a default for the Historic Parcel Reason Retired field. 99% of the tax parcels I retire get the same code, and it would be nice to set this property somewhere. Is that an option? I can't find it, so I'm reaching out.

I'm using the Parcel Editing solution portion of the LGIM (10.2). Do I need to be monitoring LGIM release notes for changes to schema and running through the Schema Migration Wizard (Upgrade information model - Local Government Information Model | ArcGIS for Local Government )? Maybe there haven't been changes that require schema changes. I'm more curious about future release; 10.3, etc.

"You are entitled to one Portal Named User for every ArcGIS for Desktop license that you have current in maintenance. These entitlements can be used either for ArcGIS Online (1 User and 100 Credits per license) or ArcGIS for Portal (1 user per license)." - That's from ESRI. I can't find it now, but I read somewhere on ESRI's website where they compared ArcGIS for iOS/Android vs Collector. Said both can collect but something to the affect that "Collector was more streamlined for editing and has more features". My takeaway from this conversation is: Collector, the product built for the ArcGIS Online/Portal platform is better than ArcGIS for Android/iOS, the product that works directly with my $40k upfront purchase of Advanced Enterprise + $10k/year maintenance. That hurts. I understand that because of my licensing I can use ArcGIS Online/Portal, but I find it disappointing that I have to. I guess Desktop Advanced, ArcSDE Enterprise, and ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise isn't enough anymore...
