I'm using the Parcel Editing solution portion of the LGIM (10.2). Do I need to be monitoring LGIM release notes for changes to schema and running through the Schema Migration Wizard (Upgrade information model - Local Government Information Model | ArcGIS for Local Government )? Maybe there haven't been changes that require schema changes. I'm more curious about future release; 10.3, etc.

"You are entitled to one Portal Named User for every ArcGIS for Desktop license that you have current in maintenance. These entitlements can be used either for ArcGIS Online (1 User and 100 Credits per license) or ArcGIS for Portal (1 user per license)." - That's from ESRI. I can't find it now, but I read somewhere on ESRI's website where they compared ArcGIS for iOS/Android vs Collector. Said both can collect but something to the affect that "Collector was more streamlined for editing and has more features". My takeaway from this conversation is: Collector, the product built for the ArcGIS Online/Portal platform is better than ArcGIS for Android/iOS, the product that works directly with my $40k upfront purchase of Advanced Enterprise + $10k/year maintenance. That hurts. I understand that because of my licensing I can use ArcGIS Online/Portal, but I find it disappointing that I have to. I guess Desktop Advanced, ArcSDE Enterprise, and ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise isn't enough anymore...

If I interpreted that correctly, the two options are ArcGIS.com account with credits and additional licensing per subscription or purchase the license to run on-premise Portal for ArcGIS, correct? Simply, as if it is a small investment, having ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise isn't enough. Users must buy up to use the Collector App. Fair assessment?

Basic Question - Does Collector for ArcGIS work without using ArcGIS.com subscription? If not, does anyone know why? Are customers that choose not to use ArcGIS.com being left behind? Sure feels like it. The documentation says Collector is more streamlined for editing than ArcGIS for iOS or Android. Why don't I get to use Collector? I have ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise. I can publish MobileWeb Maps to my mobile content directory that can be consumed and edited by ArcGIS for Android/iOS. Feels like my organization is being "punished" because we have our own cloud infrastructure and don't need services hosted for us. Am I being forced into ArcGIS.com? Just want to know which direction I need to take my organization. Is ESRI replacing Enterprise GIS with ArcGIS.com? Hope not...

Here's the workaround. Add your fabric to the map; it's symbolized automatically. Add Data and browse to your fabric, go into the fabric, and add the ParcelFabric_Parcels feature class. Now open the symbology for your fabric layer that you need to modify. Choose import and then select your stand alone Parcels feature class. click apply and ok. Now, go back into the same fabric layer and you should see the Categories option return. Granted you have to set it all up manually now, but at least you can change symbols/add values.

Christine- Sorry for the delay. Your suggestion didn't work for me, but it did shed some light on the subject. Your solution works when the fabric source is a File GDB. My fabric is in SDE. When I view the Symbology tab from each type of source the module is different in the SDE version vs FGDB (see screenshot).

When I add the fabric via the Add Data button it comes into the table of contents exactly the same as if it were to drag it in from catalog. I can see the default classes, it's that I can't add a Value to the Lot or Unit Type. 10.1 sp1

When I drag my fabric into ArcMap, the symbology is set by default. My fabric model includes a custom Lot type, which was added to the domain simcondivtype. How can I add this value to the Lots and Units symbology? When I click the symbology tab, the Categories option isn't available to me to add the value. Thanks.

i keep throwing errors on it. ERROR 000732: Layer Name or Table View: Dataset ParcelFabric_Layer\Parcels does not exist or is not supported Failed to execute (SelectLayerByAttribute). Sorry to revive an old thread, but what did you do to resolve this part of your problem? I'm getting the same message.

Thank you for the responses. They have helped me formulate my solution. Here's my summary workflow for replatting an existing subdivision (confirmed and working quite well): 1. Use the New Subdivision Workflow (Creates new Subdivision Parcel, creates Tax Parcel Parcel Remainder(s), creates new Lots, & creates new Tax Parcels. Because the New Subdivision Workflow only creates Tax Parcel Parcel Remainders and doesn't do anything with the Subdivision Parcel or the original Lot Parcels, the next two steps are required: 2. Using the newly created Subdivision Parcel as the cutting polygon, create a Parcel Remainder of the original Subdivision Parcel (Remainder assigned same name/plan as original subdivision). Original Subdivision is now historic with the Remainder active. 3. Again, using the newly created subdivision as the cutting polygon, create Lot Parcel Parcel Remainder(s) from the original Lot(s) within the original Subdivision Parcel (Remainders assigned same name/plan as original). Original Lot(s) are now historic with the Remainder active.

I need some help understanding a concept: I have a replatting of an area within an existing subdivision. How should this be treated within the fabric? Do I use the "New Subdivision" workflow? This seems that it would make a new subdivision that would overlap the existing subdivision - is that correct? Or should replattings be treated more like a split where the original subdivision boundary is modified (doughnut holed) and the remainder is treated as the new replatting? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Thanks for your response. That was the path I was on, but got stuck. I open each parcel individually, open the Parcel Details, and click the Lines tab. I can interactively add new lines, but I am unable remove existing segements, "Delete Rows", as it is grayed out. I guess I'm struggling to reshape or delete existing line segments. Of note, I don't have survey measurements for most of these parcels with errors so I can't just enter the correct values.

Scenario: I have two adjacent rectangular parcels (imagine folding a piece of paper in half) in my parcel fabric. They share one common boundary line. Currently, both parcels have 5 boundary points - each parcel has it's four corner points (two of which are shared) and the 5th is a boundary point mid-way along on their shared boundary. How do I delete this point? I essentially want to modify the shared edge as to keep topology, but the fith point shouldn't be there. How do I reshape that edge to be one line instead of two? This answers my question. Thank you. It sounds as if "single-shot" is enhanced collection, but I'm not 100% sure because I couldn't find exact documentation on what exactly "single-shot" means from ESRI. This artcile describes it pretty well in regard to cellular phones (http://www.gpsworld.com/single-shot-position-11047/). Again, not sure that it is exactly the same, but it gives some insight.

There used to be some point averaging capability within ArcGIS Mobile, but I can't find any documentation or settings regarding averaging in 10.1.1 - is that not a feature anymore?
