Good day Ankur, Did you had Office 2010 also installed on this machine ? yes, my machine did have 2010 installed at one point, and it was changed to 2013 just over a year ago. Did you had any previous Maps for Office version (like 2.x or 3.x) installed on this machine ? 4.0 version is my first attempt using ArcGIS maps for office Do you have macros in your workbook that was crashing with ArcGIS Maps for Office 4.0 ? I do have macro in my personal workbook which was not enable at the time A workbook I worked on soon after installation has been emailed to Scott. At the time, I was simply using open, copy, paste and save. Each time I saved, my excel would crash. Hope this helps.

Update: After contacting esri support, the analyst was tremendously helpful in finding the cause after weeks of researching on their end. It turned out it was a bug. If an existing GDB has domain(s) in place, then the replication onto the same GDB would certainly fail in 10.2.2 & 10.3.1 environment since the incoming data also trying to dump the same domain(s) onto the GDB. The work around prior to 2nd replication to an existing GDB is to wipe out domain in the GDB.

Hi Jake, Have you ever setup replication in an ip-sec environment. we have been testing replication using GDS (geodata service) for quite some time and it remained in the testing phase. Our IT Director would like us to look into setting replication using ip-sec so GDS is not in play. So far our replication using GDS test scenario is very much similar to what Matthew described in scenario 1, yet, we continue running into 582 error code; therefore, the topic of ip-sec came up. I love to learn yours inputs on ip-sec setup for replication. Thank you

This morning I installed v4.0 of the ArcGIS maps for office for an internal request. It seemed rather easy to use. However, after installing the extension to my 32 bit version office, I found my excel became unstable when I attempt to save or open. Basically, excel kept on crashing when I try to save a workbook. Or, when I open a file, an error message of "an error has occurred" would show up even though my workbook would open just fine.. However, as soon as I uninstalled the extension, all the problem goes away. Is there something I should be aware of before installation? Please note I did follow the installation instruction. I would love to play with this extension more if possible pending my excel does not become unusable. Thank you. OS - window 7 Office - 2013 32bit

I had a replication with our consultant in a test environment for over a year now. This time we ran into a hurdle where we somehow were both turned into Data Receiver. We found this thread but we couldn't get it working, either. Our consultant was able to export the xml but soon after importing on my end, an error message showed up stating "version not found". At the end, we couldn't come up with any option but simply delete the data from my GDB and hoping that we can replicate onto the same GDB. We seemed to rely too much on hope. Replicating to an existing GDB failed using Create Replica from Server GP tool. This reminded us that we've probably been down this road before. So, I create a new GDB on the same server and employed the same GP tool, and voila, replication worked on a new GDB. Has anyone ran into this issue before was able to come up with rescue plans? Much appreciated. consultant server 10.3.1 my server 10.2.2 consultant sql server 2012 my sql server 2008 R2 GDS is from my consultant

Good day Diego, Were you able to figure the randomness of time slider on AGOL? I have the same issue as yours with the time slider on AGOL. In fact, my data consists of time, 12pm and 7 pm on various date; however, while trying to configure time interval in AGOL time slider bar, my options were week or month or year and no day option available unlike what was described in this article by Owen Evans I rearranged my data so that the earliest or oldest data would list on the top of the attribute table. It seemed to help slightly. For instance, my data was collected at 12 pm and 7 pm on Sept 12, 13, 19 in 2013 and Oct 23rd, 2015. The time slider was set from Sept 12 12pm thru Sept 19th 7 pm in 2013, for unknown reason, it would display Oct 23rd 2015 7pm data first before displaying Sept 12th 2013 12pm data. Any ideas? Thanks.

Jake, Your suggestion on increasing the pool time worked for my internal test - within the same server. Prior to increasing the max time number, regardless of using Create Replica Wizard or GP tool, the replication would failed. In fact, via the Wizard, I did not get any error number except an error window that said replication failed, a syntax error. Once I increase the max time from default of 600 to 1800, both methods worked. Will try on different and larger dataset that we are having trouble with. Will you say the definition of "large" dataset that you mentioned earlier is fairly arbitrary? It seems, for city of our size, our data is small in comparison to other major cities or companies. Also, we are testing and running full model replication, and thus far we are theorizing that a GDB cannot be replicated if it has a FDS that has both Geometric Network and M-N relationship. Any experience on this? Lastly, on your suggestion of using xml. Is there a check list or some sort to find out if the network isn't at fault? Thank you.

Jake, Your document helps. Likewise with Matthew's notes on Create Replica GP tool. Interestingly, when using Create Replica tool yesterday, received a general replicating failed error message 00582 but when examining the "child" GDB, the replicating data appears. Any input on this? Was able to reproduce the error and outcome twice.

Matthew, Completely agree with you on xml or FGDB matters. We are testing our replication over the net between 2 networks hence we have to use Create Replica from Server GP tool or else the outside party will need to provide the "parent" DB to me to restore in my SQL then we have to do the final hand shake using Register Existing Dataset. Thanks again for your info.

Matthew, Thank you for your detailed explanation. We, too, have been testing with lots of frustrations. We have not been successful in running sync without having another Geodata Service (GDS). Meaning, 1 replica with 2 GDS. We weren't able to get sync to work both direction until the "child" GDB users publish a 1 GDS for the "parent" GDB users to absorb. An esri support analyst was able to duplicate the problem and agreed with our fining and it was noted as a bug. However, base on your description, you are running just fine. BTW, your county to/from city model is very much similar to ours. What method did you use to bring your data over to the "child" GDB? We've been using Create Replica from Server GP tool rather than using the Distributed GDB toolbar in ArcMap. Do you publish a map service along side with your GDS? We don't since we create our service from ArcCatalog. As to my versioned question earlier, we've begun testing it recently and we found the if my Default GDB is set to protected and my versioned of the Default GDB is set to public, my outside entity would not be able to sync unless my Default GDB is reset to public. Your experience and outcome were what we originally anticipated but never realized in our environment.

Just found your posting and it seems you have no problem with your 2 way replication using 1 replica and 1 Geodata service (GDS). I am curious to know how has the sync been going thus far? Have been working on the same issue here with our outside entity and we found that we were unable to sync simply using 1 GDS. Any insight is helpful on this matter. Also, are you replicating as your earlier description going to/from a versioned of your default GDB to your outside entity's versioned of their default GDB? If so, are you Default GDB set to protected on both ends? Thank you.
