Hello, I'm thinking on triyng to start and develop a "search" / filter bar extention to the LayerList widget. I couldn't find any post on such a request, which is pretty surprising to me. My clients, which are using the app I made, requested a respectfully long list of layers in their webmap and now it became extremely complicated to navigate and find information especially because it has of too many groups - without groups it might get even worse. Anyone have a good solution to suggest? never really opened widget's code before but it might happen soon.. The main problem is finding the layer but pretty soon it's going to lead to the next issue, which is marking all of the relevant checkbox squares to actually see the layer - that's also a pain when having too many groups and layers.in an app

Thanks to Steve's (Linford) comment in another similar thread I finally solved the problem ( Esri Maps for Sharepoint 4.0: Esri Maps App Configuration ) It was the wrong user assigned at the application pool user which was different from the one assigned to the portal. At the least, this should be documented as part of the installation process.

Hello, I've spent 2 full working days already on trying to understand what's the problem with the installation of ESRI Maps For SharePoint 2013 Version 4.1. I've found several conclusions with no real success of running it. A short summary on how it began and where i'm at today - 1- I installed it in our testing environment as a separate website and the installation and configuration passed smoothly. 2- Then we decided to install it on the existing SharePoint website (same testing environment) and once again, it went smooth and perfectly fine - including configuration and running the component as a webpart. 3- Today we installed it at our stage-integration environment and all the troubles came. The first issue I experienced was a missing library called 'scripts', which apparently its a huge important library that makes the component actually run. I discovered this when I tried loading the configuration page and saw nothing but a blank white page. I opened up Fiddler and then it showed that the page is trying to reach a missing resource (404) inside a missing library called 'scripts'. At this point already it's clear to see that there's a major problem with the installation itself which shows no errors! Apparently, the libraries structure design is defected, since the libraries structure is too deep for windows to handle the file names at some point inside the 'scripts' library. After many hours of attempts and investigations, I just copied the library from the dev' env' to the integration env'. Since there is a length limitation by Microsoft, I had to bypass this problem by copying the 'scripts' library to a local root drive, and then MOVE the library to its SharePoint destination path -- copying it there is impossible! It skips 30 files which are too long to handle. After I successfully copied the missing library, the pages started to show up, BUT with a new error! This time the error was about permissions to the resource even tho we used admin user (tried several different users as well). Again, spending many hours and attempts to reinstall or change permissions in the libraries, we eventually understood its something deeper beyond the file system, and then we found the permissions module which the installation suppose to create in the SharePoint administration site, inside a Secure Store Service module. We found that the first installation attempt, at the development env' was successful and it created values inside an existing Secure Store Service there, but at the integration env' it failed to create those values! which explains the permissions error. Creating them manually didn't worked. We tried to delete the service as well and recreated him and still it didn't helped. We reinstalled the component again several times, and still It fails on creating the needed values inside the Secure Store Service without showing any errors at the installation process! At this point we lost all hope with using this component and sadly, we managed to recreate the problem in the testing environment - we uninstalled it there, ran the installation again (where it worked perfectly fine) and the values in the service were not created. If anyone have a clue what might be missing here I'd be happy to try but basically it seems that ESRI should make some drastic changes in the installation process! Regards, Shay.

I'm not sure if I should be more happy than sad to see this post.. I'm having the exact same issue Above all that, I started with a perfectly fine installation on one environment, and just now, after seeing it functioning perfectly fine, I decided to install it on another domain (integration environment) and I get this weird buggy behaviour after installation! Same installation files! version 4.1 When loading the component at the correct environment, it doesn't even tries to find a folder named scripts. We have tried several times to clean all files completely and reinstall, even tried to install it on a single portal website to make it simple and fast and still, the behaviour when loading is different. So after a lot of different attempts, I navigated to the location of the installed files and I notice the script library doesn't exist! (tho I am SURE it was there a few hours ago). At the other environment the library does exist, so I copied the folder between the servers and things are starting to work again but now there's a new problem! which may indicate the origin of the problem. It seems that some files at the scripts folder are too long by name (with the complete path included) and then windows fails to copy them which results on missing files and errors. It's a system limitation that for some reason didn't showed up at the other server. I'm trying to copy the files locally and MOVE them (instead of copy) to the destination folder and this should bypass the length limitation. ***** UPDATE ****** Copying the scripts folder locally and them moving it to its required location manually solved the problem. Regards, Shay.

Thank you Robert!! Amazing! The option to add the serrch result as a layer solves it completely! Beautiful work I see it includes the option to buffer as well. Excellent widget! Thanks again

Update: I've just tried the lovely Identify widget by Robert Scheitlin, GISP which does almost exactly that, only that the widget window must stay opened, the selection is cleared when closed. When trying to continue working with other widgets it gets messy and clear results

Hello, I've tried to see if this was asked before and couldn't find anything related to te portal. I need to enable users to highlight a specific polygon or a point in a layer, like it does when the search widget finds results for example. The map stab option is not good enough since it disappears when you close the pop-up window. After opening the app with a query paramers, it pretty much does exactly what I need (marks the shape in black), only that it cannot be cleaned and the user doesn't get to change it. So I guess I'm asking if there's a "selection" widget out there Anyone knows a simple solution that might works? Thanks, Shay.

THANK YOU! It took me quite a while to understand what you mean but I finally did Apparently my problem was using a map service with a complex name that contains too many special characters. Those characters flunks the query. Solved by changing the name or using its special id name

It seems that the built-in query in parameters works only for feature layers but most if not all of my layers are published as dynamic map services. Any thoughts on that issue? As I see it, I need to develope my own query ability

Hello, I'm trying to realize how can I highlight a polygon or a point on a specific layer (just like the search widget does) as the application loads. I'm getting tangled with how it's best to do this. My first thought was to inject the code somewhere in the js files after the map was loaded. After a second thought I came up with the idea of adding a custom behavour inside a custom widget and just execute that widget on load.. So far I couldn't find the best spot where I know for certain the map and all of its content were fully loaded. Anyone ever done such thing before? Thanks, Shay.
