If you have the TigerLine shapefile of the blocks you can bring that into AGOL and with the "perform analysis" toolbox you can use the "Data Enrichment" tool and Enrich the layer with population data - this will add population data into your blocks. Then use the analysis tools to do the buffers.

Like what Todd said above - it's not possible in Collector (as far as I know) but you can download an app like DocuSign (works both on Android and iOS) and it saves their signatures as an image which you can then add as an attachment in Collector. ~Alice

We have a bunch of points (water meters) and would like to see if there is a way to connect to the closest polyline (water lines) by building a script to have the points automatically connect to the nearest polyline (or a geoprocessing tool?) Thanks!

This way uses Leaflet calvinmetcalf/leaflet.shapefile · GitHub Or you can try using Simple DynamicMapLayer | Esri Leaflet --> with the last one, you don't need Portal.

Just wanting more information on the Extension - we are planning on upgrading from 10.2 to 10.3 and on all the release notes, blogs, websites all it pretty much says is that the GeoEvent Processor is now called GeoEvent Extension. So I have one main question (and haven't heard back from my ESRI Rep yet) How much extra, on average, does the extension cost? Any more advice or info on the Extension is welcomed Thanks!

That worked! Thanks Michael Miller for the path name suggestions - that's what was holding it up.

Doing a simple geocoding script from a SQL table to Feature Class. When I run it on my local machine everything runs fine- then when I try it on my server (virtual machine) I get this error: Traceback (most recent call last):

And since I had some money left over - I actually purchased bluetooth GPS Garmin receivers that worked with the Galaxy Tab's to give the field crew more accurate locations, even when they were using Collector offline (which was basically all the time) and some faux-otter cases from Amazon for when they dropped it. The only thing to watch out for would be storage space on the device -sometimes it was hard to upload the data over wi-fi from the tablet if there were pictures attached and a lot of points, but I'm sure this has gotten better with the upgrades to the Collector app since I used it last year-ish.

I used Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's that were 7 inch screens and they worked perfectly! I think the Tab 4 is out now, but I had no problem running Collector on them. I only bought the wi-fi enabled ones so they were less expensive, but never ran into major problems.

I know that ArcGIS online does this quite nicely when you add an excel table of the address to a web map, but I would like to find a way to just access my address table in SQL --> geocode it --> and (maybe) update a map service? The address table isn't updated daily, more like monthly, so it will be nice just to create a Python, JS, or some kind of script to just have this run automatically - so I don't have to worry about it. I would be using either a JS or Silverlight application to display the points. Thanks for any advice in advance!

Here are a few links that you can look at that might help you also- Leaflet Vector Layers | GeoJason Web map by ID | ArcGIS API for JavaScript Maybe a combination of these two JS scripts can get you closer to what you are looking for.

Within ArcCatalog or ArcMap there is a Python tool found here: Then all i do is copy the code from the link I gave above into the python box: # get a list of connected users.
userList = arcpy.ListUsers("Database Connections/admin.sde")
# get a list of usernames from the list of named tuples returned from ListUsers
userNames = [u.Name for u in userList] And we don't have very many people on our databases so from here I can usually just write a quick email to the few that are on. I just keep a draft of the generic email I send out, so i can pull it up and send it real quick and not have to retype it every time. The draft email pretty much looks like the one in the link -short and simple: Server maintenance will be performed in 15 minutes. Please log off And if they don't log off by the time I give them, then they will lose their edits.
