Thank you for this insight! It did help to reconfigure the web adaptor AND check my permission settings. This issue is still unclear why this happened, but the great people at ESRI Tech Support helped me find out that it for some reason our permissions/authentications changed (maybe back to default?) after the crash. All I needed to do was add esriEveryone back into the permissions in the admin rest point.

We recently had our GIS Server crash over the weekend and when it came back on board we noticed a difference in our Web Services. After some trial and error I found this pattern: When we use - gisvm04:6080/arcgis/rest/services Our map services don't need a Token and use the Web Tier authentication like it use to before the crash When we use - egis/arcgis_internal/rest/services Our map service needs a Token authentication. After some research it looks like it might have to do with our web adapter - but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks!

I was a GIS Intern for Ada County in Boise, Idaho. I'm now a GIS & Database Specialist for City of Auburn in Washington. I credit my internship with where I am at now and it paid like crap but I learned way more at that internship than I ever did in school.

If you want a simple way to just get the coordinates of the grocery stores- you can use Google maps >> right click on top of the grocery stores >> choose 'What's Here" >> in the upper left of the map the coordinates will appear.

Is there a way that a user can add a marker (or graphic) to the map and then type in a label for that marker?

I sure do love coding in JavaScript - but unfortunately this app is in Silverlight (wasn't my choice) but it's another hint on how to get that date to show up in the correct format.

When I do a point identification on the map within the app - it returns the correct date in the popup; however, when I do a query search on map service within the app - it returns the date in my local timezone (so its showing the wrong date). I store all the dates as UTC. I use Geocortex as the app builder and stores the site as an .xml but the API is Silverlight - so hopefully this is the correct place to put this question. Thanks

This is like the biggest 'holy crap - that makes so much sense' moment of the day. How would I go about changing the Time Zone issue? Or is that question for a different group?

When someone performs a query in my application - they get the wrong date showing in the popup; however the correct date is in the .mxd that has the service. When I did a query on the map service - I notice that both my date fields look a bit odd (and there are few other ones too highlighted in red) because its missing the double quotes when you look at the JSON result. I checked multiple places to see if I had the layer ID's right and made sure everything is pointed to the correct service and they are, so I'm not sure if this is where I'm getting that error. For the example below the correct "Installed" date should be 10/1/1967 but in the query its returning 9/30/1967.

I'm interested if there are some sweet open source software (or if ArcMap/ArcScene can magically do it) that can help me georeference point cloud data. I have been using Microsoft's Photosynth to get my point clouds- but have been hitting a wall to try to get it to a point I can do some measurements with it, or just at least add it to ArcScene/ArcGlobe. Thanks!

I was able to change the basemap names by changing them in the different AGOL web maps that I use in Collector. In AGOL click on the drop down arrow to the right of the basemap layer and choose 'Rename' and the new basemap name will appear in Collector. Hope this helps.
